Supported departmental initiatives also focus on using technology to address discipline-specific challenges and encourage collaboration between faculty members on experimental learning projects. Both programs ultimately seek to empower university departments and units to improve teaching, learning, and research through the use of information and communication technologies.
Exercising creativity to implement an institutional repository with limited r...
The College of New Jersey Library had intended to implement an institutional repository since 2008. Many options were approached to secure resources for the new digital repository initiative but to no avail. It was not until early 2011 that we had a long awaited breakthrough when a team of three faculty librarians received a MUSE (Mentored Undergraduate Summer Experience) grant to implement a pilot IR for the open access initiative to take off. The College MUSE program is established to promote and support campus-wide faculty-student scholarly and creative collaborative activity. This was the first library MUSE project. Two students majoring in Computer Science were recruited to help install IR + (recently developed and released as open source by University of Rochester) and customize the codes to enhance local access and data entry. This presentation will describe the implementation process, how our students collaboratively working with the IR+ software developer to add new features for data migration as well as lesson learned. Planning and actions taken to sustain the initiative including digital rights management and outreach within and outside the campus academic community will also be described.

This meta-analysis examined 15 studies on collaborative online learning. The studies were selected based on their relevance to the theme and analyzed to synthesize their findings. The analysis found that collaborative online learning is most effective when students establish relationships, receive timely feedback, and have responsibility in their learning. For collaborative learning to succeed, participants must support each other and there needs to be structure, accountability, and continued research in the field.

Higher education institutions in Kenya face increasing competition. The researcher examines whether social media could be integrated into eLearning.
The study collected data from faculty and students at Multimedia University of Kenya on their social media usage, eLearning experience, and readiness for social media integration. Faculty responses were too few for analysis but showed high social media usage.
Student responses indicated they see benefits of sharing ideas with peers and prefer eLearning for its flexibility, though opinions were diverse on replacing traditional classes. The results provide insight but not conclusions on integrating social media due to the small faculty sample size.Recommended

Construction and validation of e-learning resources access scale (ELRAS)
The purpose of the present study is to develop and validate a Scale to measures student E-Learning Resources Access. The author undertook the following steps to build the scale: Developing a preliminary draft, Tryout, reliability and validity, Item analysis and Final draft of the scale. The Scale was administered to 110 Arts and Science College students enrolled in Under Graduate courses from Thiruvallur and Vellore Districts of Tamilnadu. The results of the study revealed that the E-Learning Resources Access Scale (ELRAS) has high level of reliability and validity.

The library offers various activities for primary students, such as drawing, storytelling, and educational videos. It also has a special reading corner for students with learning difficulties.

The National Library and Archives professionally dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic by transferring all services online, washing books to sterilize them, and providing electronic books. It is working on launching a digital repository platform and aims to have as many collections as possible online to spread knowledge among society and keep up with technological developments. The library also trains new employees on using the electronic index and search functions to help researchers.

School Libraries - Culture of making readers, leaders, talented and creatives
Aya Saoudy is a school librarian at Umm Al-Quwain school for Cycle 1 in the United Arab Emirates. She has 15 years of experience working in public and school libraries in Egypt and the UAE. She has a master's degree related to religious information seeking among Egyptian women and is pursuing a PhD in library and information science. Her goals are to develop school library services and activities to engage students and make the library a unique place for children. The library offers various activities for primary students, such as drawing, storytelling, and educational videos. It also has a special reading corner for students with learning difficulties.
The Nationa Library and Archives
The National Library and Archives professionally dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic by transferring all services online, washing books to sterilize them, and providing electronic books. It is working on launching a digital repository platform and aims to have as many collections as possible online to spread knowledge among society and keep up with technological developments. The library also trains new employees on using the electronic index and search functions to help researchers.
LIBRARIANSHIP – IS NOT JUST ABOUT BOOKS
Librarianship as a profession in Jamaica, Kenya, and Tajikistan. In Jamaica, librarianship has grown in public and private libraries, and the government focuses on librarianship and its role in sustainable development goals. There is also a librarians association. In Kenya, librarianship is widely embraced with the Kenya National Library Services having 64 branches, and professional bodies supporting librarians. The East African University in Kenya has a large library providing electronic resources, information literacy instruction, and a comfortable study space.

Embracing or adapting: Post COVID libraries, challenges and opportunities
Libraries around the world faced significant challenges with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Services had to move online, with libraries offering e-books, online resources, and even home delivery of physical materials. Reopening plans varied by location. Libraries increased their focus on digital services and resources to continue supporting patrons remotely. Staff demonstrated flexibility in adopting new technologies and formats to maintain customer service during an uncertain time. The pandemic exposed issues of digital access and equity that libraries will continue addressing going forward.
ALA’S INTERNATIONAL LIBRARIANS NETWORKING PROGRAM POSTER
Annierra is a research librarian at a private college in Georgia who helps students and faculty with research. She enjoyed learning about Farhana's library in Bangladesh, noting they do similar work like creating events and helping patrons, but Farhana's library has less technology. Farhana is an assistant librarian at an international school in Dhaka, Bangladesh, who serves students and faculty with resources. They both attended school to become librarians and work with students, though Farhana's are younger. While they both use technology, Annierra aims to help older students adapt while Farhana wants more Internet access in Bangladesh, where librarianship is less respected than in the U.S.

Combined Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) Vessel List.
The best available, up-to-date information on all fishing and related vessels that appear on the illegal, unregulated, and unreported (IUU) fishing vessel lists published by Regional Fisheries Management Organisations (RFMOs) and related organisations. The aim of the site is to improve the effectiveness of the original IUU lists as a tool for a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand and combat illegal fishing and broader fisheries crime.
To date, the following regional organisations maintain or share lists of vessels that have been found to carry out or support IUU fishing within their own or adjacent convention areas and/or species of competence:
Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR)
Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT)
General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM)
Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission (IATTC)
International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT)
Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC)
Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO)
North East Atlantic Fisheries Commission (NEAFC)
North Pacific Fisheries Commission (NPFC)
South East Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (SEAFO)
South Pacific Regional Fisheries Management Organisation (SPRFMO)
Southern Indian Ocean Fisheries Agreement (SIOFA)
Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission (WCPFC)
The Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List merges all these sources into one list that provides a single reference point to identify whether a vessel is currently IUU listed. Vessels that have been IUU listed in the past and subsequently delisted (for example because of a change in ownership, or because the vessel is no longer in service) are also retained on the site, so that the site contains a full historic record of IUU listed fishing vessels.
Unlike the IUU lists published on individual RFMO websites, which may update vessel details infrequently or not at all, the Combined IUU Fishing Vessel List is kept up to date with the best available information regarding changes to vessel identity, flag state, ownership, location, and operations.
