Macbeth murders King Duncan with help from his wife to fulfill the witches' prophecy of him becoming king. However, he grows paranoid of Banquo's children inheriting the throne as the witches also prophesied. Macbeth hires men to kill Banquo and his son Fleance, but Fleance escapes. At a banquet, Macbeth sees Banquo's ghost and grows more fearful and unstable as his actions catch up with him. Meanwhile, Macduff flees to England for safety after discovering Duncan's murder.
