Narrative Report
By virtue of Presidential Proclamation No. 115-A, the month of March was
declared as Fire Prevention Month because of the alarming increase of fire incidents
happening across the country during this particular period.
The Bureau of Fire Protection, as the government agency mandated to prevent
and suppress all kinds of destructive fires, investigate its causes, enforce fire-related
laws and provide emergency medical and rescue services, shall anchor all the activities
for the Fire Prevention Month towards fire safety at home by introducing innovative
programs and activities leading towards motivating the public to take fire safety as
everyone’s concern.
In lieu with the celebration of Fire Prevention Month with this year’s theme is
“Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog, Hindi Ka Nag-iisa,” highlights the significance of unity and
cooperation in ensuring fire-safe and disaster – resilient communities. We at Bagong
Silang Elementary School organized a Fire Safety Awareness and Seminar and Drill last
March 13, 2024 at 1:00pm on our premises with our pupils, teaching and non-teaching
personnel.

As part of our school’s annual safety program, we want to test the effectiveness
of our learners’ emergency preparedness and response in case of fire. We wish to train
all of our learners as well as our teachers, parents and other stakeholders in your fire
safety procedures. We would also like to raise awareness of fire hazards in our workplace
and houses and how to act safely in the event of an emergency fire situation, including
selecting and using a fire extinguisher.
The School DRRM Coordinator, Mr. Ariel D. Punzalan led the Fire prevention
Month campaign by coordinating to the Bureau of Fire Protection of City of Balanga
headed by FCINSP. Rene Fesetan to formally invite BFP to cascade lecture in our school.
He also initiate campaign to teaching and non-teaching staff of BSES as well as the
leaners of all grade levels to join, be aware and practice safety precautions in order to
avoid fire.
The discussion is all about the possible causes of fire, how a school and pupil
can prevent fire and also the safety precautions before, during and after a fire. The focus
and highlights of the symposium was the actual demonstration in operating fire
extinguisher. The team of BFP gave opportunities to some teachers, non-teaching staff
and some learners of BSES to use and operate fire extinguishers with their supervision.
There are also few learners who experienced to use the fire hose of the BFR truck.
The symposium on fire safety and prevention in Bagong Silang Elementary
School was successfully conducted. It was participated by10 teachers and leaners from
grades 4 to 6 and 2 non-teaching personnel. No untoward incident happened during the
conduct of the fire demonstration.
“Prevention is better than cure” preventing the fire is better than surviving one.
So check everything before the worst happen.
