The document discusses accessibility in online content. It addresses different learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic) and user lifestyles (podcasts, reading speed, downloads vs streaming). It provides tips for objectives, content planning, storyboarding, diagrams, permissions, transcribing, captions, templates, and presentation of content. The overall message is that accessibility benefits people with visual/hearing impairments, motor difficulties, attention spans, portability needs, and language learning through improved production and inclusion of everyone.

Learn how to get runaway projects back on a leash!
Do you have trouble with your content contributors? Is your content out-of-date, inaccurate, or inaccessible? Are you tired of getting support calls to just “put this on the web for me”?
Since these contributors aren’t likely your direct reports, and contributing content may not even be their main duty, you have very few tools in your arsenal to coax them. You have no sticks. You might not even have carrots. But you can have an AX.
AX, or authoring experience, is the user-experience for people who author or contribute content. In this session you will learn about AX, the benefits of a good AX, what you can do to improve your CMS’s AX, and where we’re headed with HAX, an open source AX that works with multiple CMSs.
How do you make content that is inherently visual accessible? There are a multitude of ways you can help your wayfinding and other visual content be more accessible for all of your visitors. After all – they need to be able to find you too.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
