Acceleration is the rate at which an object's velocity changes over time. According to Newton's Second Law, acceleration is caused by net force acting on an object's mass. Average acceleration can be calculated by dividing the change in velocity by the time taken.

force, as a vector, is equal to the product of
the mass of the object being accelerated
(scalar) and the acceleration (vector).
