Some common reasons for academic dishonesty include competition among students to be the best, pressure from parents to get good grades, and the availability of advanced technologies that enable cheating. Corruption can also be passed down from parents to children. Academic dishonesty is a widespread problem at all levels of education according to various studies, with 20% of elementary students, 56% of middle schoolers, and 70% of high schoolers admitting to cheating. Some teachers have also been found to engage in dishonest practices like inflating student test results.
