This study used a qualitative design in order to define, understand and
interpret the different literatures of the Manuvos in Siagao, San Miguel, Surigao
del Sur by virtue of the narratology with the use of literary approaches in
formalism and mimesis. Furthermore, this study identifies the prevalent oratures
of the Manuvos in Siagoa, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur with respect to themes,
symbols, metaphorical language, values and issues which were found in their
oral literatures. Subsequently, this study helped us identify how these oratures
affected their way of living, reflected their language and culture and values in the
Manuvo lives as one of the indigenous communities in Surigao del Sur.
In this study, there were oral literatures found in Siagoa, San Miguel,
Surigao del Sur which included folk songs, ritual songs (Tud-oms) and stories of

(formalism and mimesis), metaphorical language, prevalent themes and symbols
in understanding cultures and traditions have reflected in their ways of living of
the manuvo community. Meanwhile, this study is an opportunity of the manuvos
in preserving their oral literatures (oratures) so that future generations will
remember their traditions and culture which are naturally rich, unique and
dynamic in terms of structure, analysis, meaning, symbols and significance.
Moreover, the oral literatures also would be very beneficial in the section of
pedagogy.
