The Mystery Reveals

“ Islam is a mystery linked with the blessing obtained by Abraham from God for
his son Ishmael and Ishmael’s progeny. This line of thought, derived from the
Bible, is the one to take in order to grasp the significance of Islam… Islam might
well be the Abrahamic mystery of Ishmael.” (by: Giulio Basetti-Sani, The Koran in
the Light of Christ p. 25; Nihil Obstat by Mark Hegener OFM and Imprimatur of
Msgr Richard A. Rosemayer;

“ According to Scripture the Arabs descended from Abraham through Ishmael.
God granted a special blessing to Ishmael because of Abraham.” (Richrad Wolff
p. 81, Israel Act III)

Qur’anic and Hadith References

The Qur’an says: “And who can be better in religion than one who submits himself to Allah; and he
is a righteous man, and follows the religion of Abraham in worshipping none but Allah alone. And
Allah did take Abraham as an intimate friend.” (4:125).

In the Bible Abraham was chosen by God as a father of many nations, the Qur’an clarify
this covenant and promise, Allah says: “Verily, I am going to make you Abraham AN IMAM
that is a leader for mankind. In addition, Abraham said,‘ and of my offspring. Allah said
to Abraham, “COVENANT OF PROPHETHOOD includes not the polytheists and wrong doers…
And this religion of Islam was enjoined by Abraham upon his sons and by Jacob, saying” O my sons!
Allah has chosen for you the religion, then die not except in the Faith of Islam…and indeed, We sent
NOAH AND ABRAHAM, AND PLACED IN THEIR OFFSPRING PROPHETHOOD AND
SCRIPTURE. Moreover, among them, there are some who guided; but many of them are rebellious or
disobedient to Allah. ” (2:125, 132; 57:26).

The Qur’an says: “Say O Muhammad: We believe in Allah and in what has been sent down to us,
and what was sent down to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob and Al- Asbat ( 12 tribes of the sons of
Jacob) and what was given to Moses, Jesus and the Prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction
between one another among them and to Him we have submitted (in Islam). [3:84]

It is clear that Islam has the most continuous and universal message of any religion,
because all Prophets and Messengers were Muslim.

The Prophet said: " I am the (result of the) invocation made to Allah from my father Ibrahim and
the good news Jesus delivered. When my mother was pregnant with me, she had a dream in which she saw
a light emanating from her that radiated the places of Busra in Ash-Sham." (Fath Al Bari 8:509) and
in another Hadith, he says:" I was written with Allah as the Last and the Final of the Prophet, even
when Adam was still clay. I will tell of the first good news announcing my advent, the (result of the)
invocation to Allah made from my father Ibrahim, the good news Isa (Jesus) conveyed, and the dream
that my mother saw. The mothers of all Prophets see similar dreams." (Ahmad 4:127)

The Covenant with Abraham

Genesis 17: 19-20 (KJV)
“And God said Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name
Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant and with his
seed after him.

And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and I will make him
fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make
him a great nation.

New Testament Fulfillment
Matthew 21:42-44 (RSV)

“Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders
rejected, the same is become the head of the corners: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is
marvelous in our eyes? Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken
from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”
