Organic Food Saves Health
Organic food saves health?
Kip Pester, the author of the In Organic We Trust movie, suggests that people have to
use organic food, because it is healthier, and it has more nutrients. It is made in a
natural environment, and organic food is without pesticides. Organic food is
healthier food; this gives a better health, and gives better quality. Organic foods have
more nutrients. His interview and film is effective in convincing people that organic
food is better for them. His film information is very good and helpful, but in contrast,
he is not a researcher or a scientist.
Organic food is more expensive than regular food items. The farm machinery
needed to harvest organic food is more specialized, and therefore the food is more
expensive. They use the best tools and fertilization supplies. The farmers create
natural environments. Organic food is grown without pesticides. Nowadays,
people are using organic food broadly. The author gives lot information about
organic food, and how it works. Regular food is made with lot of pesticides, and it is
effect on humans. Nowadays people have cancer, more pesticides effect on IQ. 73%
people used organic food, and that is good.
The farmers of organic food have to certify, or evaluate by government organization,
USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). Organic certificationis a
certification process of producing organic food that must needed. The farmers can not
use any chemical solution, such as pesticides, and fertilizers.
Analysis Of The Novel Mister Pip
In my opinion a novel has to capture the reader s attention in the first two pages and
hold that same attention throughout the whole journey for it to be a novel that is
worthwhile reading. Lloyd Jones literary style throughout the novel Mister Pip is
captivating, compelling, grotesque and enlightening all at once. Through the various
personalities and explorations of each characterand through back stories that unfold
through flashbacks and story telling, Lloyd Jones lures the reader into the story.
When readers express their fondness for a novel it is generally because the first few
pages reel them in and intrigues them to learn more about the story to come. Lloyd
Jones opens the novel with a detailed description of one of the main characters Mr
Watts. By starting the book with Everyone called him Pop Eye. (page 1) creates a
mystery about who Mr Pop Eye and Mrs Pop Eye could be and why they are so
important to be the introduction to the novel, this gives the impression that he is a
major key character to the plot of this novel. It is also the introduction to
Bougainville and the time of place that the reader is taken to. We learn that Papua
New Guinea is rich with copper and that most of the men on the island have moved
away from the villages to work at the mine and the women and children are left to
look after the village with the exception of a couple of older men that would be able
to do the more difficult jobs that women couldn t do such as, Gilbert s father
The Giver Personal Freedoms
In the novel The Giver the people of the community have given up many personal
freedoms. Many of the citizens find it frightening to have these freedoms. As Jonas
receives more memories, he starts to want some personal freedoms. One freedom
that this community has given up is the freedom of expression. The committee has
done this to keep control. The committee wants to have total control and in order to
do this they can t have anyone acting or looking different. In the The Giver the
people must wear the same cloths. The cloths are the same, when Jonas discovers
colors he thinks that it would be nice to choose what you wear going to wear that
day. The freedom of expression is one that we are lucky to have. As Jonas is

Consistently, a large amount of young boys and girls sign up to play in

League Baseball, numerous youth long for one day playing under the lights, in a
jam packed stadium, before many shouting fans. This is what many tykes would
consider living the dream . Tragically, for most youngsters, that dream will never
turn into an actuality. This leaves us to ponder in thought, what is the genuine part
of youth games in the public eye? Is it accurate to say that it is just to distinguish the
chosen few bound for sports significance and to remove the rest? Then again is there

Taking an interest in sports is not a magical equation to keep youth out of
inconvenience. A grieved kid doesn t just put on football pads and all of a sudden
turn into a flawless child. Nonetheless, when he or she participates in a sorted out
game, rehearses consistently and figures out how to turn into an essential piece of
a group, they are less likely to fall into inconvenience. A kid with a lot of free time
on his or her hands might be a formula for catastrophe. At the point when playing an
intense game you are obligated to practice. Generally these practices happen 3 5
times each week for 2 hours for every day. This leaves less time accessible for a kid
to get into evil. Youth who are completely included in their game, are less intrigued
by drinking, medications as well as hazardous sexual practices. Female players are
65% less like to end up being a teenage parent, when they are heavily involved in
sports. Sports can give youngsters a feeling of self esteem and achievement.
Numerous youth players light up at the prospect of doing something that profits
themselves, their companions and their groups. Pushing for a hearty and dynamic
lifestyle through wellness and physical activity is a clear advantage to playing games
at a youthful age. With youth obesity on the rise, creating
How Does Gawain Show Heroes In Society
Heroes in Society The hero is in fear thinking about the next challenge he faces.
The triumphant one knows what is expected of him and how knows he must not let

Three to One Doctor Sharing
Coronation, Castor and Consort are small towns in rural Alberta. All three lie
along highway 12, approximately half an hour from each other. These small
towns, although quite distant from each other share one very important thing a
doctor on call. This is becoming a more common trend in rural areas with a decline
in health care physicians willing to work in such a secluded area far from
amenities. This means that some days a physician is available in one town for as
little as an hour or simply not present in the hospital at all. Health care is poor to
limited for these ruralareas, since there are far more people seeking medical
attention than can be properly assisted in a reasonable amount of time. The
availability of medical staff is crucial to the quality of health care provided in a
hospital (NRHA). There is generally a lack of medical staff including physicians
and nurses in rural hospitals. Even the shortage of a single physician is extremely
likely to have widespread impacts in a rural community (NAC 2008).
In order for these rural communities to maintain a positive, functioning health care
system, more physicians and nurses need to be recruited to work in the rural setting.
This means encouraging more health care physicians and staff to choose rural
settings to work (NRHA 2003). With all of the definite downfalls of a rural
community, there are many reasons rural communities are struggling to maintain
adequate staff at hospitals. Students in the medical
Analysis Of John Knowles A Separate Peace
A Separate Peace written by John Knowles is arguably his most well known work.
The book starts off in Gene Forrester s POVERTY in the late 1950 s. Gene returns
to Devon, a boys boarding school in New England where 15 years earlier he
attended. Gene remembers the school being alive and vibrant when he attended
the school opposed to the present day where it is cold and bleak. Early on we can
grasp the feeling and tone of the setting by looking at the words he uses to describe
the setting. On page one the narrator says I walked along Gilman Street, the best
street in town. The houses were as handsome and as unusual as I remembered. From
this section we can tell that the author is deliberately trying to set a specific tone. If

This proves how even though Jensen should be mourning the death of his friend;
his first thought was that Strunk would ve ended up dead either way. This, in
Dave Jensen s eyes, verifies that he did not make the wrong choice. O Brien

together with different people is expected. Surely, what I wanted is to make a
positive impression on my leaders and co worker as I make my way to the career
that I want. I had a chance to meet a lot of new faces with different personality.
Through this, I have learned that professionalism is a uniform behavior, Act as

The word professionalism started my journey toward a certain goal. How will I fit
in to this new organization? Followed by the question, how will I exhibit
Professionalism? I start by learning and understanding what it means. The Merriam

Societal Roles In Jane Eyre
Class is a social construct that society employs to compel individuals to follow
conventional roles. These societal roles are also dependent on gender as it can be
seen in the two novels. In Jane Eyre and Northanger Abbey, the authors both use the
bildungsroman of two young women to illustrate the confinements and conflicts that
the protagonists face as they strive to find their own identity within societal
expectations. In Northanger Abbey, Austen writes Catherine s story in a third person
perspective. By writing in this lens, the story has a tendency to be along the lines of
a fairy tale as Austen writes Catherine s struggle to fit into societal expectations and
her own expectations. In contrast, Jane Eyre is written in a first person narrative...

The narration in the novel generally makes the most contemptible characters as
those who place undue emphasis on social station; and they come from all levels
of the social ladder. (McMaster 129) This can be seen when Austen presents
Catherine and Isabella s friendship as a lesson for Catherine to not trust people too
easily. Catherine realizes that Isabella is not who she thought she was as Isabella
abandons her brother for a wealthier man; through this scene, Austen illustrates the
inextricable connection between class and wealth and that wealth is the driving
force in people s actions. The author insinuates that Isabella becomes a villain in
Catherine s eyes because she chose a wealthier man over Catherine s brother. The
Thorpe siblings are portrayed in a distasteful tone as Isabella is continually acting
out a script that makes her ridiculous. At the same time, her brother, as trapped in the
stereotypes of masculinity as she is in femininity... (Gilbert and Gubar 130). This
again brings forth the idea that social class is determined by wealth and from
Catherine s perspective are not worth associating with. Other examples include

Decades have passed and the debate continues. This discussion is not limited to fast
bowling but applies to general skill acquisition as a whole.
Most of the research related to fast bowling has focused on biomechanics and back
injury prevention and very limited work has been done with factors contributing to
bowling speeds. This limited amount mainly consists of theoretical papers, which
provide a synthesis of arguments from different papers rather than using a dataset to
deduce empirical evidence. The difficultly associated with conducting experiments
with a small sample size (limited number of bowlers) and a small number of
observations (few deliveries per bowler) may be the reason for the lack of research in
this area.
A fast bowler s training involves a lot more strength and conditioning than a batsman
or any other type of bowler. This highlights the fact that anthropometric factors are of
great significance to generating high bowling speeds. This research will attempt to
identify the most important anthropometric factors and how well those possibly
explain the difference(s) in bowling speeds. To date, little or no attempt has been
made to classify anthropometric factors vis Г vis fast bowlers as either genetic or
environmental. Furthermore, research has drawn a line between genetic and
environmental factors and has not considered the two as interdependent.

proclivity to take on the position of a renegade in dealing with many of the status

Empowerment is a process that is ignited internally and sustained autonomously. It
is imperative that blacks get the gold, if we ever expect to impact the rules of the

They control the rules of engagement, and that leaves us as pawns in a game of

Soy Sauces In East Asian And Southeast Asian Cultures
Soy sauce is widely used as an important flavouring and has been integrated into the
traditional cuisines of many East Asian and Southeast Asian cultures. Despite their
rather similar appearance, soy sauces made in different cultures and regions are
different in taste, consistency, fragrance and saltiness.
Soy sauce is a salty, brown liquid made from fermented soy beans mixed with some
type of roasted grain such as wheat, barley and rice, injected with a special yeast
mold, Aspergillus oryzae and liberally flavoured with salt. The sauce s consistency
can range from very thin to very thick. Flavours too, vary by type and have very

Dark or old Chinese soy sauce is a dark, thick soy sauce, aged longer and added with
molasses to give it its distinctive look. This variety is mainly used as a table top
seasoning, but is also used in cooking. It has a richer flavour than light soy sauce, but
is less salty.
Chinese soy sauce is made with a lower proportion of wheat than the lighter
Japanese soy sauce. Besides, Japanese style soy sauces tend to be clearer and
thinner than Chinese soy sauces. Light soy sauce from Japan has a thinner
consistency and a saltier flavour than the darker varieties. It is preferred when a
darker sauce will ruin the appearance of a dish, or when a lighter flavour is sought,
especially when serving seafood.
Tamari is a deeply coloured Japanese soy sauce which has a rich texture and intense
flavour. It contains little or no wheat. Wheat free tamari can be used by people with
gluten intolerance. It is the original Japanese soy sauce, as its recipe is closest to
the soy sauce originally introduced to Japan from China. With a higher soybean

Paul A.M Dirac s Work in Physics
Paul.A.M. Dirac started the quantum theory of magnetic charge in a paper
published in 1931. In addition, Dirac also showed that if any magnetic monopoles
did exist in the universe, then all the electric charge in the universe had to be
quantized. Dirac, in his hypothesis, also explains that an enormous amount of
energy is required to produce a (magnetic) monopole particle, hence the reason they
have not been observed in nature so far. Dirac was the first to explicitly develop a
hypothesis to predict the existence of monopoles and the consequences their
existence would have in physics. Dirac s hypothesis remained the only theoretical
solution to the (electric) charge quantisation problem until unified gauge theories
showed that electric charge was naturally quantised. However, the existence of
magnetic monopoles followed from the idea of gauge theory as well, thus
increasing the likelihood of their existence. Another interesting point to note is
that it is not so difficult to modify and symmetrise Maxwell s equations if
monopoles are ever observed to exist. The zero on the right hand side of Maxwell s
second equation (div B = 0) is simply replaced with the density of the magnetic
charge, a term similar to that of the density of electric charge that occurs on the right
hand side of the first of Maxwell s equations (relating the divergence of the electric
field to the density of the electric charge). In addition to this, an extra term is added

Descriptions And Differences Of The Alpine And Desert...
The world has many ecosystems which has some similarities and some differences to
each other. In my essay I am going to contrast and compare the Alpine and Desert
Ecosystems describing climates, soils, plant adaptations and interactions between
plants and animals.
First I would like to give an overview of each ecosystem and then compare their
attributes.
Alpine Ecosystems can be found all around the world on great mountain ranges at an
altitude of 10000 feet or more just below the snow line of the mountains for example
in the Andes, Alps or Rocky Mountains. Around 16% percent of the Earth s surface is
part of this ecosystem.
The climate here is generally very cold which leads to the ground being mostly
frozen. Due to this dead plants cannot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also want to preserve the water they gained so they are mostly slower growing
which takes less energy therefore less food which means they do not use as much
water.
They also developed a range of methods to scare animals away, but on the other hand
they need pollinators who in these areas are more active in the night so their flowers
open at this time.
The main similarity between the plant adaptations in these ecosystems is that they
grow small because of the lack of nutrients in the soil, the wind and the extreme
weather.
They also develop hairy leaves but for different reasons. In the Alpine Ecosystem
they are doing it to help them keep the warmth they gained during the day and also
to break the wind and provide a fairly warmer temperature around the plant. However
in the Desert Ecosystem they do it to reduce water loss.
Another similarity is that their leaves or flowers are turning during the day. But
again it has different causes. While in Alpine regions they want to absorb more sun
this was, in Desert regions they want to avoid losing water.
They have similarities in growing spine or needles instead of leaves because these
are more efficient in absorbing sunlight which is crucial for
How Did Scarlet Fever Occur In The 18th Century
In the late 18th century a new disease appeared called Scarlet Fever. Scarlet fever
is an infection caused by streptococcus. This caused a sore throat, fever, and a very
red rough rash that started in the torso area and would soon spread over the entire
body. Scarlet fever mainly targeted children from the age of four to the age of eight.
But anyone can get Scarlet fever. It would almost look like the person infected had
been badly sunburnt. The tongue and lymph nodes would also become very swollen
after the person had caught Scarlet fever.
Scarlet fever was deadly until the mid 19th century when antibiotics were made to
treat this disease. These antibiotics have reduced the deaths to very little. With the
antibiotics recovery takes from around seven to ten days at most. While recovery you
should be resting almost the entire day while drinking plenty of liquids. Also the
patient should not come in contact with anyone until after 48 hours of taking the
medicine because it will still be contagious. A couple days after you start the
antibiotics your body temperature will return to normal and ... Show more content on

you will probably have lasting effects with your skin. But if you get treatment the

The field of psychology has made great advancement in the way of treating

The Most Famous Philosophies Of Socrates, Aristotle, And...
Some of the most famous philosophies came from the ancient times. These popular
philosophies include, the unexamined life is not worth living, or I think therefore I
am. What is most common between these ancient phrases is the people who wrote
them. In fact, some of the most famous philosophers lived in the same city around the
same time, and even interacted with each other. The main three philosophers of these
times were Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato. While they are all prominent in their own
right, one of the three stuck out from the others, and that one was Plato.
Plato was born from 423 B.C.E. to 424 B.C.E.. When he was born, there weren t
written records of specific births in ancient Rome. So we only have estimated
speculation as to only the year he was born, which makes it a range. His was
supposedly named for his grandfather, whose name was Aristocles. Back in that
time, it was extremely popular to name the first born son after the grandfather.
There is however no evidence of his parents following in that tradition, and
Historians have no evidence that Plato was the eldest son. He was born to parents
Ariston and Messenia, and had many siblings. However, while he was still young,
Plato s father died, and His mom then married her own uncle, Pyrilampes.
Pyrilampes was a Greek politician and a powerful ambassador to Persia. After the
marriage, his family is thought to have consisted of two full brother, a half brother,
and one sister. Plato s birth parents came
Mary Rowlandson s Demise Of The Settlers By Mary
Rowlandson
Thesis Statement: Mary Rowlandson persuaded the settlers that the Indians were
savages by talking about the brutality they showed during the pillage, the cruelty
towards the settlers when walking to the camp, and the inhumanness of slaughtering
children and babies.
After reading the piece by Mary Rowlandson, one can see why the settlers were
persuaded that the Indians were savage and barbaric. One may think this because of
the many mentionings of how they shot children and neglected people making them
seem like animals. She also speaks about how the Indians destroyed and burned their
village. The Indians killed people inhumanely and took many prisoners which they
later neglected. This was expressed by explaining how a man met his demise, He
begged of them his life, promising them money (as they told me) but they would not
hearken to him but knocked him in the head, and stripped him naked, and split open
his bowels. All of these statements of what happened may now persuade someone to
think that the Indians were savage and brutal. ... Show more content on

Rowlandson writes, Now away we must go with those barbarous creatures, with our
bodies wounded and bleeding and our hearts no less than our bodies. This shows that
the Indians did not care about the physical condition of the settlers. Also, the Indians
treated the settlers poorly by not feeding or treating to their needs. This is shown
through the quote, There remained nothing to me but one poor wounded babe, and it
seemed at present worse than death. This shows that the settler had lost all hope in
surviving and thought it would be better to die than go on living. The cruelty towards
the settlers was only one of many example showing how the Indians were

Essay on Communism
In the beginning Communism seemed to the people of Russia as a utopian ideal.
The promise of the elimination of classes, of guaranteed employment, quot; The
creation of a comprehensive social security and welfare system for all citizens that
would end the misery of workers once and for all. quot; Lenin s own interpretation
of the Marxian critique was that to achieve Communism there would first have to
be a socialist dictatorship to first suppress any dissent or protest. Through coercive
tactics this new government seized power and in 1917 Lenin came to power. Under

Lenin believed that Trotsky was the best suitable to take the Communist party to
the next level. Trotsky was not all that popular among party members though and
Stalin was in a position as Gen Sek, or General Secretary, to place his people in
powerful positions throughout the party. Also, Stalin worked extremely hard at
achieving power whereas Trotsky was rather lazy. Because of these reasons along
with Stalin s quot;zero tolerance quot; attitude towards everyone, he was able to
seize control. Once in control, Stalin s first major achievements were the Five
Year Plans for industry. Russia had not yet had their industrial revolution and were
far behind the other powers of the world. The first Five Year Plan worked as far as
industrial output was concerned, but it was at much cost to the people of Russia.
Once the Five Year Plans started to roll, Stalin decided to make some agricultural
changes to support the industrialization. In April, 1928, Stalin presented the draft of
a new land law. Although the draft failed to become a law, it showed a couple of
Stalin s objectives. One was the rapid and forcible collectivization of the peasants in
order to industrialize the country quickly. The other was the liquidation of the kulaks
as a class. Kulaks were seen as industrious or prosperous peasants who were not
enthusiastic about the policies of the communist party. Collectivization was the
forcible consolidation of individual peasant farms into

Mesopotamia Disadvantages
The first river valley civilization is Mesopotamia. Southwest Asia is predominantly
desert, but there is an exception. The Fertile Crescent is the name given to land in
this area. The Fertile Crescent is known for having great soil for farming. It is the
area near the Mediterranean Sea. This area was soon called Mesopotamia, which
means land between the rivers. The Tigrisand Euphrates River both run through
Mesopotamia. There were advantages and disadvantages that came with these two
rivers. The land around the rivers is wonderful for farming. The soil is very fertile,
hence the name The Fertile Crescent. Although the rivers are good for the farmers,
they flooded every year. This caused problems for the people of Mesopotamia.
Some other disadvantages for the Sumerians included the fact that they did not have
many natural barriers. This made it easier for other countries to invade. Also, there
was not an ideal number of natural resources. This was a struggle for the people of
Mesopotamia. It made developing cities... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Reasons For Huckleberry Finn Essay
The Reasons for Huck
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is a remarkable original written by the great
American author, Mark Twain. Though this book is banned throughout schools in
America due to its racist language, it has a lot of meaning about society back then,
which can relate to today. This novel navigates through an adventure in which a
boy, Huckleberry, runs away from a civilized lifestyle and an abusive father to live
free on the Mississippi River. During his escape, he bumps into a runaway slave
named Jim. Miss Watson, one of Huck s guardians, owns Jim. Jim and Huck make
their way through the deep south, into the free land. Here, Huck will be able to abide

In addition, while living with Miss Watson, Huck stopped cussing, because the
widow didn t like it (Twain 24). However, since he was living with Pap, he took it
up again because pap hadn t no objections (Twain 24). Here, Twain demonstrates
Huck s mind shifts as he leaves one place, and is now in the care of a new person.
By reforming Huck s mind, the conflict arises, leaving the audience wondering if
Huck will turn back to turn Jim in or continue to escape with him. However, since
Huck does not want to be with Pap or Miss Watson, he decides to help Jim. We see
his mind maturing as he begins to make decisions for himself. Furthermore, Twain
uses Huck to depict the wrongs of slavery at the time, thus showing the similarities
of being symbolically enslaved by society and being enslaved. Huck, who is
enslaved by society, can be compared to Jim. As stated by the Louisiana Civil
Code, a slave is ...One who is in the power of a master to whom he belongs. The
master may sell him, dispose of his person, his industry and his labor. He can do
nothing, possess nothing, nor acquire anything but what must belong to his master
(shacklesofyesterday.org). With this definition, Twain exposes Jim and Huck s
similar situations through their amenability to white men, who are always the master
of a slave. Jim s
The Outbreak Of Acute Gastroenteritis
Introduction
An outbreak of infection or foodborne illness may be defined either as two or more
linked cases of the same illness, or as the situation when the observed number of
cases unaccountably exceeds the expected number (Food standard Agency, 2006).
However, the World Health Organisation (WHO) defines it as, any disease of an
infectious or toxic nature caused by or thought to be caused by the consumption of
food or water Norovirus is the most common known cause of infectious intestinal
disease in Western Europe and North America [1 3] and one of the leading causes of
foodborne outbreaks of acute gastroenteritis [4 9]. It has been estimated that there are
over 600,000 cases of norovirus infection in England each year [10], with infection
rates peaking during the winter months that lend the disease the initial description
winter vomiting disease (Mounts et al., 2000 EFSA).
Background
Noroviruses were first recognized in the year 1968 following an outbreak of
gastroenteritis at an elementary school in Norwalk, Ohio in the USA (Adler and
Zickl,1969). For many years they were known as Norwalk like viruses (NLV), or
as small round structured viruses (SRSVs), because of their appearance when
viewed under an electron microscopy. Norovirus belongs to the family Caliciviridae
and is a non enveloped, single stranded positive RNA virus with a genome tail and a
single capsid polypeptide molecular mass (Greenberg,1981). Norovirus have a

The narrator of The Necklace shows that Mathilde is a shallow person due to her

Essay On Alexander II And The Failure Of The Serfs
Intentions of Alexander II and the Failure of the Emancipation of the Serfs
In the 19th century it was estimated that about 50 per cent of the 40,000,000
peasants in Russia were serfs, who worked on the land and were owned by the
Russian nobility, the Tsar and religious foundations. This had been true for
centuries; in 1861, however, this was all changed when Tsar Alexander II
emancipated the serfs and gave them freedom from ownership. Alexander s
decision was based on many reasons, and did not have the desired consequences,
for the serfs at least. Therefore, it is possible to question Alexander s motives for
such large reform, which this essay will do and will also look at why the
emancipation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A large part of the problem was serfdom Russia needed millions of industrial
workers, to free up land and to force the nobility to relinquish power to a certain
extent. The Tsar was also aware that much of western Europe looked on serfdom as
being akin to slavery, and looked down on Russia as a result. As one historian has
remarked:
The strip system, involving the use of antiquated farming implements and techniques,
had long ago been abandoned on the agriculturally advanced nations. Its continued
use in Russia was a major reason why the nation could not meet it s food needs. [1]
Alexander was also acutely aware of the threat of a serf uprising. Despite the
general contentedness of the majority of serfs, there were a significant number who
were not happy, and many groups of political activists, such as the Narodniks, had
begun stirring up discontentment. In a population of 67 million, Russia had 23
million serfs belonging to 103,000 landlords. Serfs therefore outnumbered their
landlords by over 200 to one, and so Alexander was right to be concerned about what
might happen should a large uprising occur. His worries were plainly stated when he
addressed the State Council in January 1861:

The Law Of The Corn Laws
Another way in which a comparison of the two thinkers can be given with respect
to the Corn Laws is through their positioning on the issue of Say s Law. To
introduce this concept, Jean Baptiste Say developed the Law of Markets, which is
commonly referred to as Say s Law, in his A Treatise on Political Economy. He
maintains that in order to consume, one must provide supplies for another s demand
in order to earn a unit of account to consume goods, meaning a consumer must also
be a producer (Say, I.XV.133). Therefore, the economy is a constant cycle of
production, proving that supply creates its own demand. Because of this implication,
Say s Law can be viewed in relation to the Corn Lawsas the law implies both that an
economy will equilibrate without a need for government intervention and that free
tradeis non distortionary. Knowing this, it becomes evident that the law was
supported by Ricardo, albeit implicitly, and explicitly rejected by Malthus. This
section will therefore more indepthly move through the two thinker s opinions on the
law to prove their stance on the greater issue of the Corn Laws.
Malthus disagrees with Say s Law, as it oversimplifies the nuance of the economy
through its failure to account for the insufficiency of demand coupled with
overproduction. The main argument about the insufficiency of demand is brought
about by the expenditure of the different social classes. The insufficiency of demand
he notes makes up his glut theory. For Malthus,

line states, Futile the winds , futile meaning pointless. The narrator is stating that no
matter how hard the winds blow, or how rough the seas get, her love is strong and she
is not going anywhere. When the narrator says, To a Heart in port , it kind of creates
a setting of a lovers embrace. Every woman desires to be sought after and longed for.
The narrator is no longer searching for love, because she has found love, therefore
her heart is in port or it is docked. The narrator talks about how she is done with the
compass and with the chart in the last two lines. She is giving up all control for
this person, she is free to love and to be loved. She does not need a compass or a
chart because she is not looking for anything anymore. She has found her love and
her voyage is now over. She has found her Wild Night .
ID #4they don t fit into little petty places, these hips are free hips. Lucille Clifton s
homage to my hips, is all about women s empowerment. Throughout the poem, we
see this reoccurring symbol of hips. Clifton is talking about women s hips in
general, not just hers. The hips in this poem symbolize how strong and powerful
women are. How women can accomplish anything if they set their mind to it. These
three lines talk about how not every woman has a perfect body and how each of
them are different. These hips do not fit into society s standards for women. These
hips are different, not perfect, but they are beautiful in their own way, they don t fit
into little petty places. In the poem it says, these hips are free hips which explains
how women are free to make their own decisions. They are free to have whatever
kind of body type they want, without being shamed for being different. Clifton uses
the imagery of the hips to show how women are huge role models for
Adderall Synthesis Essay
Adderall is most commonly administered orally for absorption in the gut, aided by
taking the drug combined with lipids; food does not affect absorption as it does
with most drugs, including Ritalin, the other drug often prescribed for ADHD.
Onset occurs after three hours. After absorption, it is metabolized in the kidneys,
with acidic diet speeding up the rate of metabolism. In general, the half life is
approximately 10 hours. Depot binding lowers bioavailability. I would have liked
to see a little more information on why Adderall works as described. For instance, I
was left wondering why Adderall is not affected by food in the gut, why it seems to
take so long for onset, and how acidic diet can speed up metabolism. Adderall acts on
the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine via metabotropic receptors, on
which it is a full agonist, blocking binding of the neurotransmitters to the receptors. A
little more detail on this area would be ideal, because it was unclear to me whether
there is a norepinephrine system that has the effects, or if Adderall is simply affected
norepinephrine in various different areas.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like other amphetamine drugs, Adderall decreases appetite. Irritability, anxiety, and
trouble sleeping also can result from Adderall stimulant properties. Tolerance and
physical dependency are produced in this drug by downregulation of the receptors for
norepinephrine and dopamine that occurs over time. Therefore, ceasing use may
produce withdrawal symptoms of fatigue, depression, and increased irritability. As
with the rest of the infographic, more details would be great. However, I found the
aesthetic refreshingly unique. In my opinion, it looks as if this person put thought
into making their project stand out and present the information more
Thank You for Smoking
Intro: The essay Thank You for Smoking, written by Peter Brimelow, is far from an
influential essay on why people should smoke. Through this essay, Brimelow makes
an effort to convince the audience smoking is actually beneficial to your health. I
find it hard for people to write about what they think are the benefits of smoking
when there are so many obvious reasons why you should not smoke. The main
audience being targeted in this article is those who already smoke and those who are
thinking about smoking. One thing mentioned in the article is the fact that smokers
are usually lighter in weight. In my personal opinion, I would rather eat a balanced
diet and walk daily rather than walk around with a cigarette in my mouth and risk...

As stated by Brimelow, Lost in this lynching frenzy: the fact that smoking might
be, in some small ways, good for you (141). This is a great example of a qualifier
because the use of the words might and some small sense. Brimelow s use of these
words in his major claim, however, shows he is not truly confident in his views.
Counterclaim: A counterclaim is argument, which rebuts a claim, or tries to refute
the claim being made by the author (McFadden). Hold on now! Let s be clear: The
Surgeon General has indeed determined that smoking is dangerous to your health
(Brimelow 141). He clearly points out here that yes, smoking is not good for you,
and can cause serious health problems. However, this sentence contradicts his main
claim in this article, which is to try to convince the audience there are enough pros to
possibly outweigh the cons of smoking. After reading this article, I struggle to find
myself agreeing with any points being made by Brimelow. Work Cited: Brimelow,

Abstract
Selling high end electronics is big business and being a commissioned employee
in that field if your sales are up means big money. Prices for electronics range from
the low hundreds into the thousands. It really depends on the person style,
specifications they are looking for, trust in the brand, and the depth of their pockets,
how much a person is willing to spend for example on a that high definition led
plasma television that is 52 inches. No matter the cost, businesses want to keep a
track of the sales of their employees and how much they are getting paid. In this case
a high end electronics store wants to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The coding that was used to find information on commissions paid to employees was:
SELECT Employee.*
FROM Employee, Invoice
WHERE (DepartmentID =2);
The asterisk next to employees indicates that all the information under the employee
table was used to generate the search. In this query information was pulled from the
employee and invoice tables. The WHERE function more specifically states the
department which can be changed and it would generate new information. The query
currently only shows employee commission information for employees who work in
department two (see attachment).
If the finance department wanted to find the total compensation paid to each
employee in the same month as the first query a slightly different query would be run
to generate that information. The first code simply pulled the information and did not
include and computation because the finance department only requested to be able to
determine as in pull up the record for employee s commission paid. The second code
will include computation which will divide the yearly salary by twelve months then
multiples the commission rate by the total amount of product sold and lastly add
those two numbers together to get the total compensation for that month.
Unfortunately the coding that I am using is not generating a proper result. However,
it should look something like this:
SELECT Employee.EmpNumber, Employee.EmpFirstName,
Death Of A Salesman Compare And Contrast Essay
Death of a Salesman is a play written by Arthur Miller in 1949. In 1966 CBS
created a film adaptation of the play. The plot is centered on Willy Loman, an
aging salesman who starts to lose his sanity at the end of his career. Willy starts
having hallucinations of people and events that have happened in his life. After
losing his job, Willy ends up taking his own life to leave behind a pecuniary life
insurancepayout of $20,000 to his family. The characters dialogue is nearly the same
in both the Miller and CBS versionof the play. However, the actors speak their lines
with certain emotions that cannot be properly expressed in writing alone. The
appearance of the performers communicated even more information that is not
mentioned in the written... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of act two, Willy wakes up to a promising day for him and his
sons. He is dressed in a neat black suit and tie. However, Willy suffers several
failures and disappointments throughout the day. By the time he is contemplating
suicide at the end of the act, Willy s suit is ruffled, wrinkled, or removed. His
slovenly appearance reflects the bedlam occurring in his mind. On the other hand,
Charley and Howard are both wearing tidy brown suits. The difference in their
appearances highlights the contrasts of mental states between Willy and the two
men. Charley and Howard are both sane, accomplished men with successful
families. The actors facial expressions portray additional information about
characters not explicitly stated in the written version of the play. Willy constantly
looks disoriented or distracted, and he can never seem to focus on anybody. This
gives the impression of a disarrayed mind in a deteriorating state. During the
requiem, Linda has a terrible look of grief on her face when she is kneeling over
Willy s grave. The vivid look of misery on her face is more impactful than simply
reading about her sorrow. These seemingly small details create a big difference
between the written and video versions of the
Short Story Of The Marigolds
The story starts with an older woman late in her life, named Ms. Lottie planting
some lovely Marigolds in her front yard. She made them look nice, neat. She didn t
live in the nicest place. She wasn t a millionaire but those simple flowers were
special. Like a glimpse of sunshine in her yard. She didn t have much energy but
she always found perseverance to tend to them and take good care of them. But
sadly, those Marigolds are wrecked by some bad children in her neighborhood.
Those rotten kids strongly hated the Marigolds. The group of kids was led by
Lizabeth, a young girl in the neighborhood. Miss Lottie sees Lizabeth destroying the
marigolds, and Lizabeth realizes what she has just done. When she looks at Miss
Lottie while wrecking the

The Impact of Motivation on Student s Academic Achievement and Learning
Outcomes in Mathematics among Secondary School Students in Nigeria

Received 10 January 2007; accepted 19 April 2007
In our match towards scientific and technological advancement, we need nothing
short of good performance in mathematics at all levels of schooling. In an effort to
achieve this, this study investigated the impact of motivation on students school
academic achievement in mathematics in secondary schools using motivation for

Of all the personal and psychological variables that have attracted researchers in this
area of educational achievement, motivation seems to be gaining more popularity
and leading other variables (Tella, 2003). All the above stated reasons, for
persistent failure in mathematics, which have been proffered, bear relevant in one
way or the other to the poor performance of pupils in mathematics. This has lead to
a cycle of events that could be illustrated thus: When explaining the illustration
above (Aremu, 1998) explained that; when pupils express lack of interest in the
subject, it affects the way they react or listen to the teacher. And when many of the
pupils believe that they cannot pass, the teacher is also affected. This is because
aside of this negative response from the pupils, he/she as well is already being
confronted by a lot of other factors (e.g., low income, low status in society, large
teacher pupils ratio) and so on. These may cause him or her to resorts to the easiest
way of disseminating knowledge that is chalk and talk without the use of
instructional materials. He may not also bother to vary his teaching styles to suit
individuals; therefore the cycle goes on (Aremu 1998). One unfortunate outcome of
this is that,
Essay on The Battle of Crete
| The Battle of Crete: Important or Insignificant? | The Battle of Crete began May
20th, 1941. Nazi Germany launched an airborne attack called Operation Merkur or
Operation Mercury on the island of Crete. This battle will be important because it
will hold great influence over the course of the war in the means of power. The
Greek, Allied forces and even civilians attempted to defend the island and after day
one the Germans suffered heavy casualties. The next day, the Allies were confident
they could gain control back but they would have miscommunications that would lead
to Germany gaining Maleme Airfield and flying in reinforcements to overwhelm the
defenders of the island. This research is being used to answer the question why the...

Alan Clarke said that the Germans felt it was forcing them to take over Mussolini
s responsibilities in the Balkans in order to secure their southern flank against the
Soviets. Knowing this, it begs to question why Hitler had to secure his flank
against a country that he was not at war with. Another historian, Graham Ross,
also states that Hitler would have to rescue Mussolini from the results of his
military incompetence. Mussolini s failure to simply secure the Balkans for Axis
power caused a setback in Hitler s plans and therefore caused the Germans to take
control. The Italians were much more humane and civilized when it came to
fighting compared to that of the Germans, who were cruel and barbaric. This could
be the reason why the Italians were unsuccessful in securing the Balkans. The
Italians did not have the fighting mentality like the Germans did. Of course there
are those such as Murray that beg to differ in opinions about the course of the war.
After the Germans had eliminated Greece and Yugoslavia, they decided to make
one last objective and that was attacking Crete. Hitler ordered an airborne attack to
finish the campaign and secure the Romanian oil fields from threats of bombing.
Hitler stated, Crete was the correct choice but such an attack would rely heavily on
airborne forces. The Germans had hoped that by taking control of the airfields they
could create a bridgehead
The Most Successful Treatment Today For Depression
Suicide is a growing problem around the world and is the third leading cause of
death. Statistics show the seriousness of the situation. According to W.H.O. (World
Health Organization) and C.D.C. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), over
800,000 people die by suicide every year with 42,773 being Americans. The National
Alliance on Mental Illness says the leading cause of people committing suicideis
untreated depression, but only half of all Americans experiencing an episode of
major depression receive treatment ( Causes ). The most successful treatment today
for depression is therapy and/or prescript ed medication. The other common causes of
suicide are other mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, postpartum
depression, PTSD, or others similar. Today, it is a constant battle to find ways to
prevent suicide more efficiently. To break down why people commit suicide, in a
social aspect, sociologist David Emile Durkheim, broke it into four different terms
of situations that are called: egoistic, altruistic, anomic, and fatalistic. Durkheim
says, Egoistic suicide occurs in a society where there is excessive individualism, that
is, low social interaction ( Altruistic ). This means there is little interaction between
the individual and a cohesive social group that could give the individual a feel of
purpose in their life. People with more interaction create goals, values, and bonds
with people around them in a social group that increases their
Military Vs Small Military
I have served in the United States Army for 18 years during which time I have seen
the Army grow in numbers exponentially due to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Unfortunately, in the past few years, those numbers have begun to fall. Our
government is supplying reasons such as our country s deficit is too high, a small
militaryis one that can strike harder and faster, and our military has proven time and
time again they are able to do more with less. All of these may be valid points but, is
the time right for our country to do this considering the threats that we face around
the world every day? With having service members fighting, providing security and
humanitarian aid in places such as South Korea, Africa, Honduras, Japan, the Middle

This time I decided to try a search using downsizing of the military as a starting
point. I immediately came across an article in The Washington Times that gave me
some insight about issues with having a smaller military and handling a global
/world war. The article pointed out that we as a military would have no problem
supporting small strike forces, but, if there were to be more than one major global
conflict happening at the same time, we as a military would not have the personnel
needed to support both conflicts. I knew I could trust where this information was
coming from seeing as it was coming from the Army Chief of Staff General Mark
Milley. If anyone is to know what the capabilities of the Army is presently and will
be in the future, it would be him since he oversees all operations in the Army.
In conclusion, it does seem that there are positives to this issue. I did find many
more sources that discussed both the positives and negatives to this subject. Some
were credible articles and some were not but, when looking at the information over
all, there seemed to be more articles supporting the negative. I still am leaning
towards the negative side of this topic just not as much now as before. I just don t
know if the positives outweigh the negatives. I will need to do more research on this
to come to a more defined
The Theory Of Adaptation Of The Bronfenbrenner s Bio...
Throughout this essay, I will examine two of my own personal experiences which
were significant to my development as a learner. In order to exemplify links to
experience one, I will firstly draw on the work of Urie Bronfenbrenner s bio
ecological model of development and the key concepts of the microsystem and the
chronosystem. To highlight my second experience I will reference Jean Piaget s
theory of Adaptation, focusing on the key concepts of assimilation and
accommodation.
My first experience took place seventeen years ago when I became an older sister. I
was five years of age, and I was not only an only child, but I was also an only
grandchild. I was the first child to be born into the family and was used to having
everybody fuss ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The microsystem is the most influential system and holds the closest relationship to a
person. This system describes the relationship between an individual and the
interactions/activities in their direct environment, for example, the relationship a
child holds with their mother/father/caregiver or their day to day routine/practice.
The chronosystem is the final level/layer to Bronfenbrenner s bioecological system.
This system consists of the changes to environment, activities, relationships, and
practice over time. Including examples such as a change in life circumstances,
societal changes, and changes in contexts and their relationships over time.
Examples of Bronfenbrenner s model of development were made evident in my
first experience when I became an older sister and life no longer revolved around
me. This experience heavily reflected a change in my microsystem, whereby I
experienced an immediate change in the relationship I held with my parents, my
mother in particular. I also experienced a major change to my usual day to day
routine, whereby I wasn t the only one who was being cared for and looked after. My
sister, being a newborn baby, required the utmost attention and care. The changes to
my routine included small transitions such as needing to catch the bus to school
rather than being dropped off, and instead of having my mother collect me from
school, my grandmother took over this job. The change in my microsystem
The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire Essay examples
The City state of Rome became a republic in 509 BC. Rome fought numerous battles
to become what it was at its height. It all started with the Punic wars. After they won,
there was no stopping them. By the first century BC, Rome controlled most of the
known world. (Mahoney, 2001) With Augustus Caesar began the two centuries of the
Pax Romana. During this time all of Rome became a collection of states rather than
conquered provinces. The only threats that ever came were from the unorganized
barbarian tribes who s conquest brought nothing to the Empire. (Mahoney, 2001) The
rise of the Roman Empirehad many contributors. These factors would include
strength in the military, society, leadership, religious, and architectural aspects of the

Emperor Hadrian concentrated more on how the Empire was run verses making it
larger. He also helped start the Pax Romana (Roman Peace). (Mahoney, 2001) The
fourth factor was the amazing engineers, inventors, and architects in the Empire.
By 200 AD the Romans had built 53,000 miles of roads throughout the Empire. The
very first was built in 312 BC. They also invented sewers, central heating systems,
and the first types of concrete. (Mahoney, 2001) The last of all the factors was
religion. The Romans worshiped around 30,000 gods in all. These included the
major gods and goddesses such as Jupiter, the chief god, Neptune, god of the sea,
Venus, goddess of love and beauty, and Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war.
Each household also worshipped their own protective spirits. After Caesar s death,
the emperors were considered gods too. People all over the empire were allowed
to worship their own local gods as long as they paid homage to the Roman gods.
The people built large temples for worship of their different gods. They looked to
the gods to help protect their families and lives. This also helped when going into
battle. How could you not win with so many gods on your side? (Mahoney, 2001)
As you have read, many things attributed to the rise of the Empire. Many things also
attributed to its fall as well. These included poor leadership, economic trouble, as
well as growth aspects. (Mahoney, 2001) The Empire began with great leaders, but
they

  • 3. Analysis Of The Novel Mister Pip In my opinion a novel has to capture the reader s attention in the first two pages and hold that same attention throughout the whole journey for it to be a novel that is worthwhile reading. Lloyd Jones literary style throughout the novel Mister Pip is captivating, compelling, grotesque and enlightening all at once. Through the various personalities and explorations of each characterand through back stories that unfold through flashbacks and story telling, Lloyd Jones lures the reader into the story. When readers express their fondness for a novel it is generally because the first few pages reel them in and intrigues them to learn more about the story to come. Lloyd Jones opens the novel with a detailed description of one of the main characters Mr Watts. By starting the book with Everyone called him Pop Eye. (page 1) creates a mystery about who Mr Pop Eye and Mrs Pop Eye could be and why they are so important to be the introduction to the novel, this gives the impression that he is a major key character to the plot of this novel. It is also the introduction to Bougainville and the time of place that the reader is taken to. We learn that Papua New Guinea is rich with copper and that most of the men on the island have moved away from the villages to work at the mine and the women and children are left to look after the village with the exception of a couple of older men that would be able to do the more difficult jobs that women couldn t do such as, Gilbert s father

  • 7. Three to One Doctor Sharing Coronation, Castor and Consort are small towns in rural Alberta. All three lie along highway 12, approximately half an hour from each other. These small towns, although quite distant from each other share one very important thing a doctor on call. This is becoming a more common trend in rural areas with a decline in health care physicians willing to work in such a secluded area far from amenities. This means that some days a physician is available in one town for as little as an hour or simply not present in the hospital at all. Health care is poor to limited for these ruralareas, since there are far more people seeking medical attention than can be properly assisted in a reasonable amount of time. The availability of medical staff is crucial to the quality of health care provided in a hospital (NRHA). There is generally a lack of medical staff including physicians and nurses in rural hospitals. Even the shortage of a single physician is extremely likely to have widespread impacts in a rural community (NAC 2008). In order for these rural communities to maintain a positive, functioning health care system, more physicians and nurses need to be recruited to work in the rural setting. This means encouraging more health care physicians and staff to choose rural settings to work (NRHA 2003). With all of the definite downfalls of a rural community, there are many reasons rural communities are struggling to maintain adequate staff at hospitals. Students in the medical

Gene returns to Devon, a boys boarding school in New England where 15 years earlier he attended. Gene remembers the school being alive and vibrant when he attended the school opposed to the present day where it is cold and bleak. Early on we can grasp the feeling and tone of the setting by looking at the words he uses to describe the setting. On page one the narrator says I walked along Gilman Street, the best street in town. The houses were as handsome and as unusual as I remembered. From this section we can tell that the author is deliberately trying to set a specific tone. If we look

Lily Cooke AP Lang Summer Dialectical Journal The Things They Carried Tim O Brien 1) They carried the soldier s greatest fear, which was the fear of blushing. Men killed, and died, because they were embarrassed not to. It was what had brought them to the war in the first place, nothing positive, no dreams of glory or honor, just to avoid the blush of dishonor. They died so as not to die of embarrassment (O Brien 20). This quote in the first chapter of the book sets the overall tone. Either choice that Jensen could ve made he takes all the blame. This proves how even though Jensen should be mourning the death of his friend; his first thought was that Strunk would ve ended up dead either way. This, in Dave Jensen s eyes, verifies that he did not make the wrong choice. O Brien quickly jumps to Strunk s death in this paragraph. At first, he describes Strunk being taken away by the helicopter and then straight after, this quote was written. Throughout this novel, O Brien s usage of language and his own style are concise and clear. He quickly jumps to Strunk s death because there was nothing else left to be said. The most important message to get across to the reader is the sense of guilt that 4) He was a slim, dead, almost dainty young man of about twenty. He lay one leg bent beneath him, his jaw in his throat, his face neither expressive nor inexpressive. One eye was shut. The other was a star shaped hole (O Brien 124). blinds the rest of the events and occurrences when at war. O Brien clearly shows the reader this when Dave Jensen was blinded by his own guilt and felt better when his friend passed away. • 16. Societal Roles In Jane Eyre Class is a social construct that society employs to compel individuals to follow conventional roles. These societal roles are also dependent on gender as it can be seen in the two novels. In Jane Eyre and Northanger Abbey, the authors both use the bildungsroman of two young women to illustrate the confinements and conflicts that the protagonists face as they strive to find their own identity within societal expectations. In Northanger Abbey, Austen writes Catherine s story in a third person perspective. By writing in this lens, the story has a tendency to be along the lines of a fairy tale as Austen writes Catherine s struggle to fit into societal expectations and her own expectations. In contrast, Jane Eyre is written in a first person narrative... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The narration in the novel generally makes the most contemptible characters as those who place undue emphasis on social station; and they come from all levels of the social ladder. (McMaster 129) This can be seen when Austen presents Catherine and Isabella s friendship as a lesson for Catherine to not trust people too easily. Catherine realizes that Isabella is not who she thought she was as Isabella abandons her brother for a wealthier man; through this scene, Austen illustrates the inextricable connection between class and wealth and that wealth is the driving force in people s actions. The author insinuates that Isabella becomes a villain in Catherine s eyes because she chose a wealthier man over Catherine s brother. The Thorpe siblings are portrayed in a distasteful tone as Isabella is continually acting out a script that makes her ridiculous. At the same time, her brother, as trapped in the stereotypes of masculinity as she is in femininity... (Gilbert and Gubar 130). This again brings forth the idea that social class is determined by wealth and from Catherine s perspective are not worth associating with. This discussion is not limited to fast bowling but applies to general skill acquisition as a whole. Most of the research related to fast bowling has focused on biomechanics and back injury prevention and very limited work has been done with factors contributing to bowling speeds. This limited amount mainly consists of theoretical papers, which provide a synthesis of arguments from different papers rather than using a dataset to deduce empirical evidence. The difficultly associated with conducting experiments with a small sample size (limited number of bowlers) and a small number of observations (few deliveries per bowler) may be the reason for the lack of research in this area. A fast bowler s training involves a lot more strength and conditioning than a batsman or any other type of bowler. This highlights the fact that anthropometric factors are of great significance to generating high bowling speeds. This research will attempt to identify the most important anthropometric factors and how well those possibly explain the difference(s) in bowling speeds. To date, little or no attempt has been made to classify anthropometric factors vis Г vis fast bowlers as either genetic or

  • 23. Paul A.M Dirac s Work in Physics Paul.A.M. Dirac started the quantum theory of magnetic charge in a paper published in 1931. In addition, Dirac also showed that if any magnetic monopoles did exist in the universe, then all the electric charge in the universe had to be quantized. Dirac, in his hypothesis, also explains that an enormous amount of energy is required to produce a (magnetic) monopole particle, hence the reason they have not been observed in nature so far. Dirac was the first to explicitly develop a hypothesis to predict the existence of monopoles and the consequences their existence would have in physics. Dirac s hypothesis remained the only theoretical solution to the (electric) charge quantisation problem until unified gauge theories showed that electric charge was naturally quantised. However, the existence of magnetic monopoles followed from the idea of gauge theory as well, thus increasing the likelihood of their existence. Another interesting point to note is that it is not so difficult to modify and symmetrise Maxwell s equations if monopoles are ever observed to exist. The zero on the right hand side of Maxwell s second equation (div B = 0) is simply replaced with the density of the magnetic charge, a term similar to that of the density of electric charge that occurs on the right hand side of the first of Maxwell s equations (relating the divergence of the electric field to the density of the electric charge). In addition to this, an extra term is added to the right hand side of the

Alpine Ecosystems can be found all around the world on great mountain ranges at an altitude of 10000 feet or more just below the snow line of the mountains for example in the Andes, Alps or Rocky Mountains. They also developed a range of methods to scare animals away, but on the other hand they need pollinators who in these areas are more active in the night so their flowers open at this time. The main similarity between the plant adaptations in these ecosystems is that they grow small because of the lack of nutrients in the soil, the wind and the extreme weather. They also develop hairy leaves but for different reasons. In the Alpine Ecosystem they are doing it to help them keep the warmth they gained during the day and also to break the wind and provide a fairly warmer temperature around the plant. However in the Desert Ecosystem they do it to reduce water loss. Another similarity is that their leaves or flowers are turning during the day. But again it has different causes. While in Alpine regions they want to absorb more sun this was, in Desert regions they want to avoid losing water. They have similarities in growing spine or needles instead of leaves because these are more efficient in absorbing sunlight which is crucial for

In fact, some of the most famous philosophers lived in the same city around the same time, and even interacted with each other. The main three philosophers of these times were Socrates, Aristotle, and Plato. While they are all prominent in their own right, one of the three stuck out from the others, and that one was Plato. Back in that time, it was extremely popular to name the first born son after the grandfather. After reading the piece by Mary Rowlandson, one can see why the settlers were persuaded that the Indians were savage and barbaric. One may think this because of the many mentionings of how they shot children and neglected people making them seem like animals. She also speaks about how the Indians destroyed and burned their village. The Indians killed people inhumanely and took many prisoners which they later neglected. This was expressed by explaining how a man met his demise, He begged of them his life, promising them money (as they told me) but they would not hearken to him but knocked him in the head, and stripped him naked, and split open his bowels. This is shown through the quote, There remained nothing to me but one poor wounded babe, and it seemed at present worse than death. In The Necklace, the narrator s unsympathetic feelings toward Mathilde are made evident in the first paragraph when he states, she had no dowry, no expectations, no means of being known, understood, loved, wedded by an rich and distinguished man; and she let herself be married to a little clerk at the Ministry of Public ... In fact, Vanka tells his grandfather that he can thrash [him] like Sidor s goat if he misbehaves or does something wrong (48). The narrator of The Necklace shows that Mathilde is a shallow person due to her insistence that she would not go to the ball without a new dress, and that she would only wear jewels, never flowers, although they were in fashion (67 68). Mathilde appears to be more concerned with how everybody thinks she looks, than how they actually think of her as a person. Mathilde furthers this impression when she and Loisle are leaving the dance and she would rather be in the cold than have the other ladies see them in their modest wraps of common life (69). However, the narrator of Vanka further portrays Vanka as a sympathetic, but naive, character. In his letter, Vanka writes about how he is beaten several times a day and frequently goes hungry because as for tea, or soup, the master and mistress gobble it all up themselves (48). He would even run away to the village, but [he has] no boots even though he works for a shoemaker (48). The fact that Vanka writes to his grandfather in secret with an old pen he had salvaged further shows how scared of his master he is in that he hides his actions for fear of receiving

Essay On Alexander II And The Failure Of The Serfs Intentions of Alexander II and the Failure of the Emancipation of the Serfs In the 19th century it was estimated that about 50 per cent of the 40,000,000 peasants in Russia were serfs, who worked on the land and were owned by the Russian nobility, the Tsar and religious foundations. This had been true for centuries; in 1861, however, this was all changed when Tsar Alexander II emancipated the serfs and gave them freedom from ownership. Alexander s decision was based on many reasons, and did not have the desired consequences, for the serfs at least. Therefore, it is possible to question Alexander s motives for such large reform, which this essay will do and will also look at why the emancipation, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A large part of the problem was serfdom Russia needed millions of industrial workers, to free up land and to force the nobility to relinquish power to a certain extent. The Tsar was also aware that much of western Europe looked on serfdom as being akin to slavery, and looked down on Russia as a result. As one historian has remarked: The strip system, involving the use of antiquated farming implements and techniques, had long ago been abandoned on the agriculturally advanced nations. Its continued use in Russia was a major reason why the nation could not meet it s food needs. [1] Alexander was also acutely aware of the threat of a serf uprising. Despite the general contentedness of the majority of serfs, there were a significant number who were not happy, and many groups of political activists, such as the Narodniks, had begun stirring up discontentment. In a population of 67 million, Russia had 23 million serfs belonging to 103,000 landlords. Serfs therefore outnumbered their landlords by over 200 to one, and so Alexander was right to be concerned about what might happen should a large uprising occur. His worries were plainly stated when he addressed the State Council in January 1861: It is
  • 43. The Law Of The Corn Laws Another way in which a comparison of the two thinkers can be given with respect to the Corn Laws is through their positioning on the issue of Say s Law. To introduce this concept, Jean Baptiste Say developed the Law of Markets, which is commonly referred to as Say s Law, in his A Treatise on Political Economy. He maintains that in order to consume, one must provide supplies for another s demand in order to earn a unit of account to consume goods, meaning a consumer must also be a producer (Say, I.XV.133). Therefore, the economy is a constant cycle of production, proving that supply creates its own demand. Because of this implication, Say s Law can be viewed in relation to the Corn Lawsas the law implies both that an economy will equilibrate without a need for government intervention and that free tradeis non distortionary. Knowing this, it becomes evident that the law was supported by Ricardo, albeit implicitly, and explicitly rejected by Malthus. This section will therefore more indepthly move through the two thinker s opinions on the law to prove their stance on the greater issue of the Corn Laws. Malthus disagrees with Say s Law, as it oversimplifies the nuance of the economy through its failure to account for the insufficiency of demand coupled with overproduction. The main argument about the insufficiency of demand is brought about by the expenditure of the different social classes. The insufficiency of demand he notes makes up his glut theory. For Malthus,

The second stanza of Emily Dickinson s Wild Nights Wild Nights! , portrays a sense of romantic longing between the two lovers. In this poem, there is a nautical type of scenery being displayed, especially in the last two stanzas. This is true because, the second stanza references: compasses, charts, seas and ports. The first line states, Futile the winds , futile meaning pointless. The narrator is stating that no matter how hard the winds blow, or how rough the seas get, her love is strong and she is not going anywhere. When the narrator says, To a Heart in port , it kind of creates a setting of a lovers embrace. Every woman desires to be sought after and longed for. The narrator is no longer searching for love, because she has found love, therefore her heart is in port or it is docked. The narrator talks about how she is done with the compass and with the chart in the last two lines. She is giving up all control for this person, she is free to love and to be loved. She does not need a compass or a chart because she is not looking for anything anymore. She has found her love and her voyage is now over. She has found her Wild Night . How women can accomplish anything if they set their mind to it. These three lines talk about how not every woman has a perfect body and how each of them are different. These hips do not fit into society s standards for women. These hips are different, not perfect, but they are beautiful in their own way, they don t fit into little petty places. In the poem it says, these hips are free hips which explains how women are free to make their own decisions. They are free to have whatever kind of body type they want, without being shamed for being different. Clifton uses the imagery of the hips to show how women are huge role models for

Depot binding lowers bioavailability. I would have liked to see a little more information on why Adderall works as described. For instance, I was left wondering why Adderall is not affected by food in the gut, why it seems to take so long for onset, and how acidic diet can speed up metabolism. Adderall acts on the neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine via metabotropic receptors, on which it is a full agonist, blocking binding of the neurotransmitters to the receptors. Through this essay, Brimelow makes an effort to convince the audience smoking is actually beneficial to your health. I find it hard for people to write about what they think are the benefits of smoking when there are so many obvious reasons why you should not smoke. The main audience being targeted in this article is those who already smoke and those who are thinking about smoking. And when many of the pupils believe that they cannot pass, the teacher is also affected. This is because aside of this negative response from the pupils, he/she as well is already being confronted by a lot of other factors (e.g., low income, low status in society, large teacher pupils ratio) and so on. These may cause him or her to resorts to the easiest way of disseminating knowledge that is chalk and talk without the use of instructional materials. Alan Clarke said that the Germans felt it was forcing them to take over Mussolini s responsibilities in the Balkans in order to secure their southern flank against the Soviets. Knowing this, it begs to question why Hitler had to secure his flank against a country that he was not at war with. Another historian, Graham Ross, also states that Hitler would have to rescue Mussolini from the results of his military incompetence. Mussolini s failure to simply secure the Balkans for Axis power caused a setback in Hitler s plans and therefore caused the Germans to take control. The Italians were much more humane and civilized when it came to fighting compared to that of the Germans, who were cruel and barbaric. This could be the reason why the Italians were unsuccessful in securing the Balkans. The Italians did not have the fighting mentality like the Germans did. Of course there are those such as Murray that beg to differ in opinions about the course of the war. According to W.H.O. (World Health Organization) and C.D.C. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), over 800,000 people die by suicide every year with 42,773 being Americans. The National Alliance on Mental Illness says the leading cause of people committing suicideis untreated depression, but only half of all Americans experiencing an episode of major depression receive treatment ( Causes ). The most successful treatment today for depression is therapy and/or prescript ed medication. The other common causes of suicide are other mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, postpartum depression, PTSD, or others similar. Today, it is a constant battle to find ways to prevent suicide more efficiently. To break down why people commit suicide, in a social aspect, sociologist David Emile Durkheim, broke it into four different terms of situations that are called: egoistic, altruistic, anomic, and fatalistic. Durkheim says, Egoistic suicide occurs in a society where there is excessive individualism, that is, low social interaction ( Altruistic ). This means there is little interaction between the individual and a cohesive social group that could give the individual a feel of purpose in their life. It all started with the Punic wars. After they won, there was no stopping them. By the first century BC, Rome controlled most of the known world. (Mahoney, 2001) With Augustus Caesar began the two centuries of the Pax Romana. During this time all of Rome became a collection of states rather than conquered provinces. The only threats that ever came were from the unorganized barbarian tribes who s conquest brought nothing to the Empire. (Mahoney, 2001) The rise of the Roman Empirehad many contributors. The very first was built in 312 BC. They also invented sewers, central heating systems, and the first types of concrete. (Mahoney, 2001) The last of all the factors was religion. The Romans worshiped around 30,000 gods in all. These included the major gods and goddesses such as Jupiter, the chief god, Neptune, god of the sea, Venus, goddess of love and beauty, and Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war. Each household also worshipped their own protective spirits. After Caesar s death, the emperors were considered gods too. People all over the empire were allowed to worship their own local gods as long as they paid homage to the Roman gods. The people built large temples for worship of their different gods. They looked to the gods to help protect their families and lives. This also helped when going into battle. How could you not win with so many gods on your side? (Mahoney, 2001) As you have read, many things attributed to the rise of the Empire. Many things also attributed to its fall as well. These included poor leadership, economic trouble, as well as growth aspects. (Mahoney, 2001) The Empire began with great leaders, but they
