PROJECT OBJECTIVE :
To validate the existing functionality enhancements, functionality changes in Vantage One or
product migration from other legacy systems to Vantage one, assigned as a part of different
releases spread across the year.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION :
Cognizant has working as strategic vendor for this program where the entire variable annuities
business is maintained through Vantage One policy admin system. Vantage is a policy admin
system owned by Computer Sciences Corporation. It is a mainframe based application with IBM
DB2 2008 in back end. The line of business is Variable Annuities. The different projects that come
up are mainly functionality enhancements, Fund management, Fee correction, Rider changes and
product migration based projects. Apart from the end to end testing of the policy admin, Cognizant
is also involved in the testing of various downstream applications of Vantage One which
constitutes of different report validations like statement and confirm, transaction print letters,
electronic business application, new business applications etc.
The types of testing which are mainly performed in Vantage testing are:-

PROJECT OBJECTIVE :
Production BME tickets come up when some functional issue occurs in production region.
Some functionalities might need some fix, some may need some enhancements and
sometimes some features need to be modified which needs to be tested as a part of the tickets.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION :
Production tickets are assigned as a part of different releases. These mainly come when some
issues are identified in Production. Reasons for such issues might be due to data, environment,
functionality enhancements etc. Objective for production ticket validation is to check whether the
suggested changes have been implemented properly as a result of the production tickets and
respective regression testing also needs to be conducted to ensure the related modules are not
impacted. The different functional areas from where the production tickets are mainly assigned
are as follows:-

Project Type: Informatica Upgrade from Windows to Unix
Client : A leading Insurance provider in North America
Duration: August 2015- November 2015

PROJECT OBJECTIVE :
This was a migration project where the database servers of different applications residing in the
Windows server were migrated to updated Unix server to reduce the response time to load the
data to different databases.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION :
All the ESP jobs for the impacted applications were modified, the database pointers, server
pointers and location of all the input and the output files were changed. As a part of QA , all the
modified jobs needed to be executed and checked whether the application jobs were running
correctly. Post completion of the jobs whether the migrated databases were getting filled with
proper data or not from the target database or the input files.
A comparison testing was also done between the data in Windows server and the UNIX server.
Firstly the same job was run with the same set of input files in Windows server and the output files
and the updated database dump was taken as a backup. After that, the same job was run in UNIX
server with the same set of input files. The output files and the destination database dump were
compared with the ones that were taken from the windows server. The match of the data between
the two dumps ensured that the data were loaded correctly to the database UNIX jobs.

Project Type: Migration Testing on LifeAsia 7.6.

PROJECT OBJECTIVE :
A migration project where the Life Insurance policies were migrated from LifeAsia 5.0 to LifeAsia
7.6.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION :
This was a project where the testing was done on the LifeAsia 7.6 application developed by
Computer Sciences Corporation. The geography was APAC region. It was mainly a migration
project where one of the most renowned Insurance Company planned to migrate the existing
policies from LifeAsia 5.0 to LifeAsia 7.6. QA had to ensure that when these policies were
migrated to the new version of LifeAsia 7.6, the policies continued with their life cycle and also it
needed to ensure that both the new products implemented in LifeAsia 7.6 were also working
according to the product specifications. The total project was divided into 3 cycles where the first
two cycles mainly dealt with functional testing and cycle 3 mainly dealt with regression testing.
The testing solution included:-
• Functional Testing.
• Regression Testing.
