In 2009, there were an estimated 1.48 million new cancer cases and 562,340 cancer related deaths in the US. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for 15-20 year olds, and 11,773 people died in alcohol related crashes in 2008 representing 32% of all traffic fatalities. A worker with a master's degree will on average make double the income of a worker with only a high school diploma.
