Children around the world, like those working in the Hussain Khan carpet factory, are denied their right to education and subjected to horrific working conditions as child slaves. While some children retain hope of freedom, like the girl Maria in the book Iqbal who dreams of flying a kite, many lose hope of ever escaping. The children work from dawn to dusk in unsafe, unhealthy environments, underfed and without access to food or clean water. They are essentially treated as objects without rights. This document aims to raise awareness of the estimated 218 million child slaves worldwide and encourage action to help protect children's rights and improve their living situations.
