What is the  Australian Air Force Cadets? A national youth organisation Part of the Australian Defence Force Cadets Administered by the Royal Australian Air Force  Under the authority of the RAAF
AAFC HISTORY Established as part of the RAAF in 1941 to ready young men for aircrew training  By end of WWII, almost 12,000 ATC members had been in the RAAF Post-war, the AAFC  became an air activities-based youth movement
What Cadets do Develop leadership, self reliance, self discipline, initiative and citizenship skills Develop their interest in the Royal Australian Air Force and general aviation  Build a knowledge of aviation history Enjoy aviation activities in a military environment
Eligibility Australian Air Force Cadets is open to males and females who are: Aged 13–16 years  (can stay until 20) Australian permanent residents In good health Able to attend parades and camps Have parental permission
During school holidays, Cadets can attend annual camps with other Squadrons at RAAF Base Pearce where they see how the RAAF lives and works Annual Camps
Other Camps   Flying, fieldcraft, and leadership camps are held throughout the year
Learn to glide like an eagle in the Australian Air Force Cadets
Flying Training Cadets  (minimum age 15)  who have completed their first year of basic training and are medically fit, can learn to fly a glider aircraft solo
Cadets  (minimum age 16)  who have completed their first year of basic training and are medically fit, can learn to fly a powered aircraft solo Powered  Pilot Training
Completing your first solo flight  is the best feeling in the world
Training in canoeing is great fun at an adventure camp
Field  Training All Cadets get  fieldcraft and  survival training
Training on Fieldcraft and Survival Camps Developing skills and abilities that will last a lifetime
Firearms Safety Training Firearms safety training is strictly supervised by qualified instructors
Australian Air Force Cadets are trained to shoot safely with 0.22 rifles and military Steyr rifles
Ceremonial Duties Cadets learn how to ceremonially parade with swords, weapons, banners and flags
Marching Competitions Compete against the best in Australia
Australian Air Force Cadets Drum Corps on Parade
Social activities include  the Annual Cadet Ball
Cadets can rise through the ranks by attending Corporal, Sergeant, Warrant Officer and Under Officer courses

ANZAC Day march on St Georges Terrace
Duxes of the Cadet Sergeant, Warrant Officer and Under Officer promotion courses, conducted at RAAF Base Pearce each year, get rewarded with a flight in a military aircraft, courtesy of the Commanding Officer, No. 2 Flying Training School
