ACF Recruitment - ROUGH.
1. Army Cadet Force The ACF is one of the UK’s oldest, largest and most successful youth organisations. The ACF helps young people between the ages of 12 and 18 develop both personally and physically by providing a range of opportunities, challenges and activities. Consisting of more than 47,000 cadets in around 1,700 local detachments across the country,
3. What does the ACF do? The army cadet force develops young people physically and mentally, improving self-confidence, teamwork, friendship and leadership. They offers cadets the opportunity to explore the wider community, and to learn skills you would not usually learn. The cost?! The army cadet force is free to join. Some counties may require a deposit to be made for uniform, and boots must be paid for. There is a £50 + payment for annual camp, which is optional.
4. What will you do as a cadet? Drill and turnout – Cadets take place a military parade, where cadets are taught drill. Having learnt the positions of attention, saluting and turns at the halt. A cadet can use these skills learnt to march in parades, such as remembrance day. Fieldcraft - In field craft lessons, cadets learn infantryskills such as patrolling, battle drills, and how to survive in the field. Field exercises take place once every few months, and at annual camp. Shooting – Cadets are first taught to fire a .22 calibre rifle on a 25 m rifle range. Cadets are taught on how to the Cadet general purpose (GP) Rifle, which is fired typically on 100 m, 200 m and 300 m ranges during annual camps or weekends away.
5. Annual Camp. Once a year, for approximately two weeks, cadets will go on for a camp. In these camps, they would do activities, such as firing weapons, water activities, teamwork and miliary exercises. They are generally £50 to attend.
6. How do I join? You have to be 12 years of age, to join the ACF. And be in Year 8 of School. (sorry year 7s). Contact your local detachment. You are invited to join the cadets on parade nights, where you will be introduced and given at taster. REMEMBER! The ACF is not a recruitment organisation for the army! Thanks for listening!
