4. Design is nothing but problem solving. So, as a designer I want to share an idea that solves one of the problems faced by
INDIA. This idea will try to solve the following,
• Identifies misdiagnosis
• Wrong medicine intake
• Fake bill identification
• Medicine expiry date
• Duplicate medicine
• Wrong prescription to a patient, due to lack of medical record maintaining by the patient
Note: all the idea and concepts provided here is in initial stage – Phase 1
How to use Aadhaar Card for Medical Purpose (concept)
5. How to solve the problem?
• There might be various solutions to the problem, but I want to solve this problem using Aadhaar card
• Create a software that syncs Indian citizen 's medical details with their Aadhaar card
• Since Aadhaar card is now most widely used by almost all citizens in INDIA, data collecting and identification of the
individual is minimized.
Requirement: Only Aaadhar card number

6. • Patient name – Sibi, Male, 56 Yr old
• He resides in Chennai
• He travels frequently to Bangalore & he never maintains any medical bill
Consider the following usecase
7. Using this methodology for patient first visit
Clinic
In chennai
Sibi
Doctor
Comes out with a prescription
Pharmacist ask for
Aadhaar card number
instead of patient name
to enter the particulars.
Medical bill will be synched
with patient’s Aadhar card
Pharmacist verifies the bill,
medicines and uploads the
patient's medicine details in the
software
(by providing
** “upload” option in software)
** Pharmacist can upload on each bill basis.
Note: Requires internet connection for uploading
it to the server
Sibi visits nearby hospital to consult his chronic cough problem
8. Medical bill will be synched
with Aadhar card
Pharmacist verifies the bill,
medicines and uploads the
patient's medicine details in
the software
(by providing
** “upload” option in
software)
Using this methodology for patient second visit
Clinic in
bangaloreSibi
Doctor
Patient provides Aadhaar
card number to the doctor
When doctor enters the patient’s
Aadhaar card number in the
software, he/she can check
patient’s past prescription details.
(doctor should only have view
access)
Doctor issues the
prescription,
accordingly
If in case Sibi moves to Bangalore
Pharmacist ask for
Aadhaar card number
instead of patient name
to enter the particulars.
.
9. Use case review
By both the cases,
• If in case, Sibi moves to other location say Bangalore, it wont be necessary for him to carry/remember the medication he
took earlier from his family doctor in Chennai.
• It would be just sufficient to provide the Aadhaar number to the doctor in Bangalore.
• Doctor in Bangalore will check the Sibi’s prescription history and provide the medicines accordingly.
10. For each time, following criteria will be default in
software
• Pharmacy shop number
• Pharmacist certificate number
Error case
• If pharmacist mistakenly types wrong medicine details, they
should, update the correct medicine with the options “request for
change”(in software )
• Both, corrected and wrong details entered by pharmacist should
be noted in software logs
Following details needs to be added by the Pharmacist
when the patient hands out the prescription.
• Patient’s Aadhaar card number
• Medicine / diagnose details
• Amount particulars
• Doctor’s name / clinic (from prescription)

11. • If doctor mentioned the patient as ”unknown disease affected”, medical inspector will identify the patient immediately through default alert system
• If the patient visits the new doctor instead of family doctor, the new doctor has access to view the list of medicines he/she was prescribed earlier.
(Based on this, new doctor can treat the patient accordingly)
• It helps in providing correct medicine to the correct patient
• Black medicine market can be avoided (because all the medicine entry is noted in the server)
• Health inspector / Govt can review if free vaccines are issued to the patients (Example: when government runs free eye check up or operation,
citizens can use their Aadhaar card number to enroll and the health care inspector can review how many people have been benefitted )
• Most importantly, every citizen will have their own medical records
• Wrong medicine/prescription can be identified easily
Pros
Cons
• Internet should be available in pharmacy for synching the bill details
• Huge data server is required for synching up
• Data entry must be precise
