  • I’ve personally never heard of companies who can produce a paper for you until word got around among my college groupmates. My professor asked me to write a research paper based on a field I have no idea about. My research skills are also very poor. So, I thought I’d give it a try. I chose a writer who matched my writing style and fulfilled every requirement I proposed. I turned my paper in and I actually got a good grade. I highly recommend ⇒ www.WritePaper.info ⇐

  6. 6. With the recent announcement by Prime Minister Modi, that there could be a law mandating doctors to prescribe medicines with their generic names instead of brand names, there have been multiple news articles that have presented varying points of view. Through a nationwide survey of more than 5673 doctors, we attempt to break the myths and give a voice to the doctors across India, whom this decision will affect the most. The Background2
  7. 7. Survey 73% Doctors are AGAINST this decision Conducted among 5673 doctors across all specialties and geographies in India. Results A large pool of healthcare professionals do not support the government’s decision and believe it could affect patient health severely. There are some interesting trends that came out across states, cities and specialties. See next page..
  8. 8. Uniform results in cities across various tiers Across all tier-1, tier-2 and tier-3 cities, doctors uniformly expressed disagreement with the government’s recommendation to prescribe generics. They express a wide array of concerns ranging from the quality of the generics and the education/qualification of the chemist that is now being made the decision maker. % age Doctors AGAINST this decision 2

  11. 11. There were about 1000 doctors who commented on the poll. Some of the comments and the qualitative opinions have been curated in the following pages. Qualitative Poll Results4
  12. 12. Yes, but only if there is a cap on the price of a specific molecule and liberty should be given to the doctor to decide No, the quality of medicine given will then depend on pharmacist ...what he wants to sell without knowing its effect on patient. This will severely affect patients health Yes, It’s a very good idea as to provide cheap medicine, but we still don't have standardization of generic drugs No, because purity and efficacy and palatability of generic medicine over branded drugs is not as good and to the mark No, It's questioning doctors ability to prescribe rationale formulation and quality and is not in favor of patients at all No, It's like buying cheap chinese products compared to good quality one No, because the govt.rule applied only to allopathy qualified doctors, but not to the quacks, ayush people who constitute the bulk allopathic prescribers without being qualified for the same 1 2 3 4 5 6 No, It will be difficult to write combination medicines. Three or more drug combinations are common7 8 4 Qualitative Poll Results
  13. 13. I would support the move if before the move, government ensures few things 1. If only generic drugs are to be written, why should be there any brands in the market. Why don't the government move towards it. 2. Can the government guarantee that all the drugs available in the market are up to the mark in quality and the quality. Government never seems to be in a state to ensure that. 3. How a drug combination is to be prescribed?. And if such combinations are not to prescribed, they should be withdrawn from the market. 4. If only quality generic drugs are available in the market, the there never rises a question of generic verses brand. Because, there are no brands available. Why no move like this? 5. Will the government, medical shop or the pharmacist take the responsibility of providing quality generic drugs? Never heard anyone mentioning a word about it. Will the patient stop coming back to doctor to say that the drug didn't work for him, and instead go to the pharmacist. No. What is the definition of generic?According to international practice all the brands other than inovater are generic. So all Indian brands are already generic. If you right only pharmacological name, than chemist will give whichever brand gives him maximum profit at the cost of quality. Ultimately patients will get poorest quality drugs and unqualified chemist will be king 10 9 4 Qualitative Poll Results
  14. 14. The announcement made by the Prime Minister, seems to lack a well thought-out plan yet. While the details about this generics-only mandate are sorted out, it would be important that the government consider the quality of the generics and the qualification of the decision maker. In the meanwhile, we hope that the survey results in this document can help you bring confidence back to your stakeholders and help the government of India realize that this generics-only mandate needs a well thought of health policy that can address Indian public health concerns in a holistic manner.
