The vice president of operations at A&A Manufacturing wrote this letter to thank Jim and Larry for their support and assistance in helping develop and institutionalize a lean culture at the company. Some key accomplishments through lean implementation included reducing material flow in one product line from 4,400 feet of travel to less than 400 feet, improving on-time delivery to over 95%, and reducing lead times. Lean processes were also instrumental in reducing order acknowledgement times and freeing up customer service personnel. The vice president credits Jim and Larry's training and expertise in communication for generating understanding and buy-in for lean across all levels of the organization. Over 150 active lean improvement projects now involve employees company-wide.
