1. QUESTION 2:
HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE
COMBINATION OF YOUR MAIN
PRODUCT AND ANCILLARY
A2 MEDIA.SYNTYCHE
SONZI.
2. Me and my pair Corine aimed to make all 3 media texts produced
correspond with each other as promotional tools of a piece of music
in the AFROBEATS genre.
3. LOCATIONS
So that we can effectively correlate all 3, we used the same location in
the music video and the CD and Advert package. This was the TV
studio and the black backdrop. Through this we succeeded in
creating direct visual codes to the target audience making them
realise the similarity of locations used creating a link between the
music video and the digipack. Which therefore acts as promotional
tools for each media texts.
4. HOUSE STYLE/COLOUR SCHEME
With these 3 media artefacts we aimed to make them all colourful,
bright and eye catching to the target audience this was highlighted in
both of the initial idea pitches in Task 4 and Task 8. And based on
the feedback received me and my pair were able to do this effectively.
The different bright colours used relates to the Afrobeat genre and
the diversity of the African traditions. Additionally by keeping the
same house style/colour scheme I was able to create more realistic
media products and increasing the quality of my work.
5. CLOTHING
Although we developed the common convention of costume and
modernised the costume pf the actors and dancers to be able to
create a clear representation of the target audience age range and
create authorage. We included some traditional African materials
/clothing. We wanted the African print materials to be present in al 3
media products so for the music video we got the dancers to wear it
and for the CD and Advert the female actor wore a African printed
top. This was so that we don’t steer away from the common basics
associated in this genre.
6. MY MEDIA PRODUCTS AND THE
REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS
My 3 media texts link with the real media products already available
in the market, as my media products have a consistent flow of
connection between all 3 which effectively combines the products.
For example Yemi Alade Kings of Queens album featuring the song
Johnny which were both my case studies. This case study worked well
together as a whole made media package as it all portrayed the same
themes and representations to their target audience thereby being
successful promotional tools for each other.
7. As a whole, I believe that the 3 media products that I had created
correlate very well together to not only act as promotional tools for
each other but to also effectively represent the Afrobeat genre in
general through the colours, house style and clothing. This was also
immediately recognised by the audience through the feedback that
was received. The case studies played a big role in helping me and
my pair understand the common forms and conventions of the
afrobeat genre that we may have wanted to use, develop or challenge
in the media artefacts.
Additionally the case studies gave me visual implications to what is
already on the market and what I would need to do so that I can make
my work reach that particular standard of quality.
