The lighting in the cave scenes is very dark, adding to the atmosphere, though in key scenes the girls are lit with different colors like red, green, and yellow to distinguish them. Most of the film takes place in the cave, where the main attack occurs, isolating the characters. The costumes are outdoor clothing suitable for the adventure film genre. Props used in the cave include torches, lighters, and blades, which help with caving but are also used against the attackers. All sounds in the cave are diegetic natural sounds or those of the events.

2. Lighting in the cave scene is very dark and
poorly lit throughout. This of curse adds to
the atmosphere of the cave scenes, although
in the scenes leading up to when the
crawlers are attacking the girls, the scenes
are lit with different colors (red, night vision
green and yellow) the lighting splits the girls
up and makes it apparent to the viewer who
is who by color coding them.

3. The location for most of the duration
of the film in the cave where the most
key part of the film happens (the
attack of the crawlers and the killing of
Sarah’s friends). The idea of the film
being set in the cave just adds to the
feeling of the characters being alone,
and trapped away.

4. The costumes worn through most of
the duration of the film are outdoor
and extreme sports clothing which is
suitable to the type of film of which
The Descent is with it somewhat
being a adventure film. All main
characters in the film wear basic
protective helmets and harnesses for
when they are climbing in the cave.

5. Props used in the film whilst in the cave are
torches, lighters and blades which are there
to assist them with the caving but are also
used to attack the crawlers and when certain
members are killed.

6. SOUND
A lot, if not all sounds in the cave are diegetic and are all sounds that
would’ve of been heard in the cave, such as the sounds of the water
dripping into the cave, the screams, the sounds of knives and other
weapons being used and screams.
