2. LEADING LINES
This photograph was taken by landscape photographer, Adam
Burton. This photograph was taken on the way to Exmoor
National Park, Somerset. This photograph has prominent
leading lines located in the middle third of the photograph which
leads the viewers eye through the photograph. In my opinion
this photograph is three dimensional because I feel like there’s
more to the photograph as we look into the end of the path in
the photograph. I think that this photograph may have been
taken in the early morning, I think this because of the skies
golden color. I think that the ISO may be low because the
photograph was taken in daylight. Most likely, the aperture was
small while taking this photograph because there is a lot of light
that needs to be taken in before the photograph is taken.
This photograph was taken by Raluca Mateescu, he/she has
named this photograph ‘Downtown Bridge’. This picture has two
apparent leading lines (the bridges rails) which are located in
the first third of the photograph. The leading lines in this
photograph lead the viewers eyes through the photograph. Also
the overhead lights that are above the main focal point assist
the viewers eyes through the photograph. I think that this
photograph may have been taken with a high ISO as this
photograph was taken at night. Most likely, the aperture is small
and the shutter speed was kept at about a few seconds so that
the camera can take in the right amount of light before the
photograph is taken.
3. NIGHT TIME
This photograph was taken by Jason Hawkes, a landscape
photographer. The photograph was taken at the W Hotel in
Leicester Square in London, this picture was taken at 980ft. The
photographer was most likely stood on a building or on a crane
when taking this picture as it is so far up. I think this photograph
may have been taken with a small aperture and a slow shutter
speed so that it can capture all the light. I also think this is may
have been taken with a high ISO as it is taken at night so the other
buildings are showing. I’ve also noticed that the main focus point
of the photograph is the brightest object and the viewers eyes
would be drawn to it, also because it is located in between the first
and second third of the photograph.
This photograph was taken in Trafalgar Square, London by
photographer/blogger Elle-Rose. The main focal point of the
photograph is the fountain which is located in the middle third of
the photograph. I think that the photograph may have been
taken with a slow shutter speed (a couple seconds) as the water
coming from the fountain has a misty look to it which may have
came from the shutter speed being left on for a long time. I think
that the aperture may have been small because of it having to
take in so much light (from the fountain and other buildings and
street lights) for such long time before the photograph is taken.
The ISO may have been high because this photo was clearly
taken at night time.
4. REFLECTIONS AND SYMMETRY
This photograph was taken by photographer, Galen Rowell. The
photograph was taken at John Muir Trail, High Sierra, California.
This photograph is a clear representation of reflections and
symmetry in landscape photography as the mountains and warm
pink and purple skies are reflected amongst the water and grass
below it. As you can see, the horizon line is also the symmetry line
of the photograph – which would be the edge of where the grass
and water starts. This photograph may have been taken in the
early morning as it seems that the sun maybe coming up and the
water is still. I think that this photograph may have been taken with
a small aperture and a slow shutter speed because of the some
blades of grass near the bottom of the photograph are slightly
blurred. The ISO may have been low because of the time of day
(daylight).
This photograph was taken by photographer, Adam Burton. The
location of this photograph is Alnwick Castle in Northumberland.
The main reflections in the photograph are of the castle, trees
and other buildings adjacent to the castle as well as the
reflections of grass in the water. I think that the photographer
may have changed the white balance to get the blue filter effect
on the photograph. In my opinion, I think that this photo may
have been taken in the early morning as frost is present on the
grass and the castle appears to have a golden color to it which
may be a reflection of the sun. As the photograph was taken in
sunlight, the ISO maybe quite low so there isn’t a grainy effect on
the photograph.
5. URBAN AND RURAL
This photograph was taken by Andreas Gursky. The title of this
photograph is ‘The Rhine II’. The simplicity of this photograph is
very apparent. This photograph is split up into sections of straight
lines of grass, water, path and sky. This photograph may have been
taken in the day so the ISO will be quite low to avoid a grainy effect
on the photograph. The green lines of grass leads the viewers eye
towards the waves of water near the middle of the photograph. I
would say that this photograph comes under the category of rural
landscape photography because there is simply water and grass in
the photograph rather than city buildings, cars, etc. I think that this
photograph may have been taken with a fast shutter speed
because the ripples in the water are very apparent and that the
aperture maybe quite small as there is a lot of light in this
photograph.
This photograph was taken by architecture photographer,
Matthias Heiderich. This photograph was taken in Berlin,
Germany. I would say that this photograph was taken at an angle
and handheld because of how the composition of the
photograph. I think that this photograph was taken in sunlight
because of the warm tones of colors as well as the lack of clouds
in the sky. In my opinion, the line of the roof leads the viewers
eye towards the object on the corner. I think that this photograph
may have been taken with a low ISO because of the fact that it
was taken in daylight. This photograph was taken with a fast
shutter speed and small aperture. I think this is because of the
fact that this photo may have been taken handheld and to avoid
blur.
6. LONG EXPOSURE
This photograph was taken by Mike Curry. I think that this
photograph may have been taken handheld because of the
way that the shake has been produced in the photo. The
photo was probably taken from a high vantage point from a
near by building. In my opinion, this photograph has been
taken with a low shutter speed. I think this because of the
level of shake, also I think that this may have been taken with
a small aperture. What makes this photograph unique
because of the lines of shake within the picture. I think that
this photograph was taken with a high ISO because it seems
as if it was taken in the evening.
This photograph was taken by Japanese photographer,
Shinichi Higashi. As you can see, it is clear that a long
exposure time was used to take this photograph because of
the lines of light which have come from cars going past. This
photograph was taken from a high vantage point, probably
from a bridge or a near by building. I think that this photograph
may have been taken with a high ISO as it seems that this
photograph has been taken at night. The lines of light are also
leading lines which lead the viewers eyes to each corner of the
photo. I think that this photo may have been made into a
symmetric photograph using editing software such as
Photoshop. More than likely I think that this photo may have
been taken with a small aperture and with a slow shutter
speed so that the camera can pick up all of the light from the
cars which makes the lines.
