Presenteeism among nurses is the decision to attend work while sick. It is a vital issue for nurse administrators and managers. The unusual circumstances of the health work atmosphere leads to the creation of job stress that further results in negative consequences- such as decreased productivity and poor quality care services to patients for organizations. This research explores the levels of job stress and presenteeism and the relationship between overall job stress and overall presenteeism perceived by nurses in tertiary level hospitals in Pakistan.
We are witnessing very demanding and stressful times in which we live, and an occupation that is particularly exposed to stress and different working conditions is the job of a nurse. Exposing themselves to everyday challenges and stressful situations, nurses reach a stage of great emotional and physical exhaustion, lethargy, dissatisfaction, and poorer work achievements, which we know as burnout. The aim of this paper was to determine whether there is and to what extent professional burnout is present in nurses and technicians working in nursing homes across Slovenia and Croatia. The paper is answering the questions of the extent of the burnout influenced by individual characteristics (age, education, years of service and work experience at the current workplace). The study involved a validated questionnaire “The Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI)” to measure professional burnout. Surveying of the nurses was conducted online at their home institutions. The results show that all respondents have a medium or high level of professional burnout, while no one has a low level or shows no signs of burnout. In terms of age, the group from 55-65 years of age had the highest relative level of burnout in the age group category. With regard to education, the highest burnout was measured in registered nurses.

The purpose of this project is to identify causes of nurse burnout in our organization and to implement strategies that will alleviate the issues. This literature review will focus on the topic of burnout and its implication in healthcare facilities. The literature review's purpose is to highlight what has already been researched in terms of active intervention that can be applied in addressing burnout and improving the quality of care provided.
In identifying the literature that will be used in the study, the search involved an inclusion and exclusion criteria. In the inclusion criteria, all the studies had to be not older than five years, written in English, peer-reviewed, and addressing burnout in healthcare facilities. The databases that were used are BMC, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Science Direct. The search utilized keywords that include “burnout,” “healthcare quality,” “patient satisfaction,” “patient safety,” “Compassion Fatigue,” and “COVID-19.” The literature review addressed the conceptual framework of the study, intervention strategies, compassion fatigue (CF) and burnout, COVID-19 and burnout, burnout and patient safety, and burnout and patient satisfaction.
Theoretical Framework
The theoretical framework that will be applied in the research is the Quality Health Outcomes Model (QHOM). QHOM touches on several aspects that show the association between the context or system, client characteristics, healthcare interventions, and patient outcomes. The model posits that the quality of the provider's services is essential in ensuring excellent outcomes and patient satisfaction.
DesHarnais (2011) provides a conceptual framework and definitions of quality. The author states that Donabedian provided definitions of quality that reflect the goals and values of the current medical care system and those that encompass the broader society it serves. DesHarnais (2011) writes that Donabedian used three aspects of care, namely, structure, process, and outcomes. Rebar (2019) defines
quality, as well as its implications in the provision of care. The author provides the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine definition of healthcare quality. Healthcare quality is defined as the degree to which healthcare services for populations and individuals increase the likelihood of desired health outcomes consistent with current professional knowledge. Rebar writes that quality entails timeliness, patient-centeredness, equity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Patient satisfaction that is connected to the perceived quality of care drives market competition and reimbursement.Burnout Survey
There are several burnout surveys available to use for assessing the level of burnout with staff. According to Halbesleben and Demerouti (2005), Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is most commonly used, however, researchers have criticisms. According to WHO latest by April 2nd 2020, it has now become a global threat and also it has become a serious issue in Pakistan with increasing number of active cases every day. Physicians, consultants, paramedics and other staff working in hospitals are at risk due to the emergence of COVID-19 which also is responsible for severe burnout which effects job performance, job satisfaction, interpersonal relationships, and vulnerability to illnesses. This research aims at finding the burnout in healthcare professionals of Karachi, Pakistan due to the current situation of COV-19 pandemic. We carried out a cross-sectional study in the tertiary care hospitals of Karachi, Pakistan from Feb’2020 – Apr’ 2020 in which the questionnaire based on Malsch burnout inventory were distributed amongst the healthcare professionals including doctors and paramedics, working in the departments of emergency, COVID special units and others. A scoring system of 1-4 was applied (strongly disagree-strongly agree). The results showed that highest burnout was faced by healthcare professionals in the category of depersonalization and personal accomplishment amid Covid-19 while the association between the burnout and the demographic factors mentioned was also found to be significant. The challenges faced by the healthcare professionals because this pandemic showed lack of presence of personal protective equipment and fear to spread infection to be as the biggest challenges. The study concluded that the current pandemic situation of COVID-19 has particularly associated with the burnout and stress amongst our health care professionals who are working on the frontline.

Abstract: Nurses have been found to experience higher levels of stress-related burnout
compared to other health care professionals. Despite studies showing that both job
satisfaction and burnout are effects of exposure to stressful working environments, leading
to poor health among nurses, little is known about the causal nature and direction of these
relationships. The aim of this systematic review is to identify published research that has
formally investigated relationships between these variables. Six databases (including
CINAHL, COCHRANE, EMBASE, MEDLINE, PROQUEST and PsyINFO) were
searched for combinations of keywords, a manual search was conducted and an
independent reviewer was asked to cross validate all the electronically identified articles.
Of the eighty five articles that were identified from these databases, twenty one articles
were excluded based on exclusion criteria; hence, a total of seventy articles were included
in the study sample. The majority of identified studies exploring two and three way
relationships (n = 63) were conducted in developed countries. Existing research includes

Work–related Musculoskeletal Disorders Among Healthcare Workers in a General ...CSCJournals
Background. Musculoskeletal disorders is the most common disease among healthcare workers. Which affects not only the quality of life but also the income, the health, the economy. In Vietnam, there are some research about the MSDs among healthcare workers and the factors affect this problem, especially, the ergonomic factors. Objective. To assess the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among healthcare workers in Cao Bang General Provincial Hospital, Vietnam and determine risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders. Material and methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 85 healthcare workers in a general provincial hospital in Vietnam using the Nordic questionnaire and questionnaire. Results. High prevalence of musculoskeletal among healthcare workers during the past 12 months (62.4%) and last 7 days (45.9%), with the two most common sites being low back pain (48.2%) and neck (40%). Gender, work experience, total working hours, night shift work, and stress level showed the association with the MSDs in the past 12 months. Conclusion. Due to the high prevalence of MSDs among healthcare workers in a general provincial hospital, preventive actions are needed to improve the working conditions and to raise the awareness of healthcare workers about MSDs prevention.
The Exploration of Emotional Exhaustion in Developing Patient Safety Culture ...AI Publications
Providing patient safety in healthcare organizations has become an important and urgent issue globally. Understanding medical staff’s perceptions toward patient safety enable hospital managers to monitor safety situations for patients. The current study aims to further identify the role of emotional exhaustion plays in establishing patient safety culture by conducting the Chinese version of Safety Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ). A total of 256 valid questionnaires were collected. Regression analyses were conducted to demonstrate the relationships between emotional exhaustion and six patient safety culture dimensions. The results illustrated that stress recognition and job satisfaction had positive and negative effects on emotional exhaustion, respectively. Hospital managers should pay more efforts to these two important elements to reduce the occurrence of preventable medical accidents and ensure the safety of patients.

conditions. Referring to this, the formulation of the problem in this study is whether work motivation,
compensation and perceptions about the Covid-19 pandemic have a significant effect on employee performance
at BhayangkaraBondowoso Hospital. This study aims to examine and analyze the effect of work motivation,
compensation and perceptions about the Covid-19 pandemic on employee performance, either simultaneously or
partially. The results of the preliminary study indicate an indication of an increase in employee performance
which is influenced by motivation, compensation and perception. This research was conducted in RS.
BhayangkaraBondowoso, associative, sampling technique Multistage sampling (Proportianate Stratified and
Purposive Sampling) as many as 60 respondents consisting of various types of professions, data collection
instruments in the form of questionnaires. This study uses quantitative analysis with instrument testing, classical
assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis, coefficient of determination test, hypothesis testing with the
help of the IBM SPSS Version 26 program. The results show that (1) Work Motivation, Compensation and
Perceptions about the Covid-19 Pandemic simultaneously has a significant effect on employee performance. (2)
Work Motivation, Compensation and Perceptions of the Covid-19 Pandemic partially have a significant effect
on employee performance. Employees with good work motivation, satisfied with the compensation received and
positive perceptions about the covid-19 pandemic, have a better level of performance.

Few organisations can say they have thrived during the nationwide lockdown but Rotorua Library is one of them, reporting huge spikes in e-material being issued daily.
Rotorua Library's e-collection includes more than 22,000 eBooks and nearly 2500 eAudiobooks as well as hundreds of magazine and newspaper titles.
In the past four weeks, the average number of loans from the eLibrary has more than doubled to 249 loans per day compared with April 2019, which saw an average of 114 loans per day.
The Saturday prior to lockdown also saw a nearly 50 per cent increase in loans, with locals borrowing 1706 physical items.
In the eight days prior to closing, library staff saw an increase of almost 25 per cent in issues over the same period last year.
There are currently 19,422 items in people's homes, that's almost a third of the library's borrowable collections.
Library director Laura Marshall said the eLibrary collection had enabled the library to continue meeting the community's needs.
"The elevated usage of these eResources has been exciting to see."
Marshall is also excited about plans to launch new library services as the country moves down the alert levels.
"A delivery service is being planned in which librarians will select and deliver books to customers based on customer reading preferences. This will be available to customers who have been advised to stay home based on their age or pre-existing health conditions."
Other customers will be able to apply to use a new click and collect service. More information about both of these services will be available in coming weeks.
Meanwhile, library staff have also made sure locals don't miss out on the programmes it offers with online sessions of popular preschool programme He Pi Ka Rere as well as easy craft ideas to keep house-bound children entertained, virtual origami and New Zealand Sign Language lessons.
The physical library will remain closed when the country moves to alert level 3.
Due dates on all items issued before the lockdown have been extended to June 1.

The nursing industry is expected to increase 7% by 2029, with an estimated 175,900 RN openings each year through 2029 (AACN, 2021). Nursing shortages are multifactual. Nursing shortage factors include: nursing school enrolment is not growing with the demand, a significant portion of nurses are nearing retirement age, and insufficient staffing driving nurses to leave the profession (AACN, 2021). One area, in particular, that is sensitive to nursing shortages, and retention is correctional nursing. "Retention of nursing staff is more complex in a correctional facility" (Chafin & Biddle, 2013). One study noted only 20% of the nurses remained employed after three-years at this particular facility (Chafin & Biddle, 2013).
In a correctional facility, the primary focus is given to security, with healthcare being second. Providing care within a correctional setting is very different than a hospital setting. Facility security is always the focus and drive. How a nurse interacts with patients (inmates) within a facility is vastly different from a non-correctional environment. Being overly friendly or nice can wreak havoc and be deemed "over familiarizing" with inmates or been seen as a weakness by inmates creating a safety concern (Walsh, 2009). The correctional setting comes with its inherent dangers and stressors, leading to nurses' high turnover.
The prison I was formerly employed with has significantly reduced nurses due to terminations and resignments. As an employee with the Michigan Department of Corrections, a nurse can be pulled from any facility to fill the needs of another facility at any given time of which has recently happened. Marquette Branch Prison is to have nine registered nurses in total, and right now, they only have four RNs employed there. The facility has tried to offer signing bonuses to retain RNs. They have changed some procedures to make it safer for the nursing staff, such as correctional escorts when going to the cells, and have reached out to contract agencies to secure nurses. However, none of these measures have led to success. As the shortage increases, the remaining nurses are forced to work more overtime in an already demanding and stressful environment leading to an even faster turnover and increased safety concerns.
Living in a rural area already stresses the number of nurses available, and trying to recruit and retain nurses within the correctional system proves to be an even harder strain. Emergency service providers and agencies alike participate in life-saving activities every day. Workers in these agencies provide assistance in daily emergency situations, transporting and treating patients in various situations. Their input in the medical process is incontrovertible as they ensure the welfare of the patient.
The healthcare sector is exposed to varying infections despite the availability of multiple disinfection procedures. Contamination remains a significant issue to the EMS responders as ambulances become a constant source of various pathogenic bacteria as a result of transporting patients from emergency scenes to the medical facilities. The transportation procedure creates a situation where the paramedics as well as the patient are exposed to the pathogens, a majority of which may be infectious (Reed, et al., 1993). Although there are various safeguards and disposable equipment which reduce the risk to the medical staff, the transportation process remains susceptible to contamination from blood and infectious substance. The result of these infections on the EMS in Saudi Arabia specifically is significant, as estimated 35 to 45 medical providers have been infected .
The ambulance service managed by the Red Crescent is the source of focus for this project for its lack of policy and guidelines on the pre-hospital process. Work–related Musculoskeletal Disorders Among Healthcare Workers in a General ...CSCJournals
Background. Musculoskeletal disorders is the most common disease among healthcare workers. Which affects not only the quality of life but also the income, the health, the economy. In Vietnam, there are some research about the MSDs among healthcare workers and the factors affect this problem, especially, the ergonomic factors. Objective. To assess the prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders among healthcare workers in Cao Bang General Provincial Hospital, Vietnam and determine risk factors associated with musculoskeletal disorders. Material and methods. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 85 healthcare workers in a general provincial hospital in Vietnam using the Nordic questionnaire and questionnaire. Results. High prevalence of musculoskeletal among healthcare workers during the past 12 months (62.4%) and last 7 days (45.9%), with the two most common sites being low back pain (48.2%) and neck (40%). Gender, work experience, total working hours, night shift work, and stress level showed the association with the MSDs in the past 12 months. Conclusion. Due to the high prevalence of MSDs among healthcare workers in a general provincial hospital, preventive actions are needed to improve the working conditions and to raise the awareness of healthcare workers about MSDs prevention.
The Exploration of Emotional Exhaustion in Developing Patient Safety Culture ...AI Publications
Providing patient safety in healthcare organizations has become an important and urgent issue globally. Understanding medical staff’s perceptions toward patient safety enable hospital managers to monitor safety situations for patients. The current study aims to further identify the role of emotional exhaustion plays in establishing patient safety culture by conducting the Chinese version of Safety Attitude Questionnaire (SAQ). A total of 256 valid questionnaires were collected. Regression analyses were conducted to demonstrate the relationships between emotional exhaustion and six patient safety culture dimensions. The results illustrated that stress recognition and job satisfaction had positive and negative effects on emotional exhaustion, respectively. Hospital managers should pay more efforts to these two important elements to reduce the occurrence of preventable medical accidents and ensure the safety of patients.

compensation and perceptions about the Covid-19 pandemic on employee performance, either simultaneously or
partially. The results of the preliminary study indicate an indication of an increase in employee performance
which is influenced by motivation, compensation and perception. This research was conducted in RS.
BhayangkaraBondowoso, associative, sampling technique Multistage sampling (Proportianate Stratified and
Purposive Sampling) as many as 60 respondents consisting of various types of professions, data collection
instruments in the form of questionnaires. This study uses quantitative analysis with instrument testing, classical

Few organisations can say they have thrived during the nationwide lockdown but Rotorua Library is one of them, reporting huge spikes in e-material being issued daily.
Rotorua Library's e-collection includes more than 22,000 eBooks and nearly 2500 eAudiobooks as well as hundreds of magazine and newspaper titles.
In the past four weeks, the average number of loans from the eLibrary has more than doubled to 249 loans per day compared with April 2019, which saw an average of 114 loans per day.
The Saturday prior to lockdown also saw a nearly 50 per cent increase in loans, with locals borrowing 1706 physical items.
In the eight days prior to closing, library staff saw an increase of almost 25 per cent in issues over the same period last year.
There are currently 19,422 items in people's homes, that's almost a third of the library's borrowable collections.
Library director Laura Marshall said the eLibrary collection had enabled the library to continue meeting the community's needs.
"The elevated usage of these eResources has been exciting to see."
Marshall is also excited about plans to launch new library services as the country moves down the alert levels.
"A delivery service is being planned in which librarians will select and deliver books to customers based on customer reading preferences. This will be available to customers who have been advised to stay home based on their age or pre-existing health conditions."

Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
