This document provides a literature review of mathematical models for supply chain network design. It reviews 75 references from 2002-2016 on forward, reverse, and closed-loop supply chain network models. The review finds that forward supply chain network design is the most studied, with models considering objectives like cost minimization and including stages like suppliers, production centers, distribution centers, and customers. However, the analysis reveals that reversible supply chain network design and closed loop supply chain network design still require further attention from researchers to understand gaps in the literature.
