The Make in India campaign was launched in 2014 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to transform India into a global manufacturing hub. The campaign aims to create jobs and enhance skills in 25 sectors like automobiles, aviation, biotechnology, chemicals, defense manufacturing, electronics, food processing, IT, mining, pharmaceuticals, and textiles. 100% FDI is allowed in most sectors except space, defense, and media. Major achievements of the campaign include investments from companies like Samsung, Foxconn, Boeing, and Micromax in sectors like automobiles, electronics, and defense manufacturing. A Make in India Week was held in 2016 in Mumbai where investment commitments of USD 220 billion were received.

This document discusses recruitment priorities for the aircraft engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector. It provides an overview of the commercial aircraft engine industry and fleet data by region. By 2022, the total commercial aircraft engine fleet is projected to grow 38% to 62,544 engines. It also outlines the market share of major engine manufacturers and discusses opportunities for MRO providers to service different engine families. The International Aircraft Engine Association aims to promote collaboration and professional development across the aircraft engine industry through initiatives like a global career site, proposed aircraft engine engineering programs, and webinars.
The automobile industry in India has grown significantly since the first car ran on an Indian road in 1897. India is now the second largest manufacturer of two-wheelers in the world. The auto industry contributes 18% of India's total excise revenue and 25% of manufacturing GDP. However, the industry turnover is expected to be $110 billion by 2016, falling short of the $145 billion target set by the Automotive Mission Plan 2006-2016. The industry is facing opportunities such as introducing more fuel-efficient vehicles to cater to changing lifestyles, but also threats like intense competition and volatility in fuel prices.
- India represents a major growth opportunity for airlines, as domestic airline passenger numbers in India are expected to almost triple over the next decade, reaching 294 million by 2022. However, aviation penetration remains quite low in India relative to other countries.
- The growing Indian middle class of over 300 million, along with initiatives like "Make in India" and increased visa access, are driving more Indian outbound travel and foreign visitor arrivals to India. Several non-metro cities in India also have strong growth potential for air travel.
- ASEAN open skies policies allowing more flights from ASEAN countries to 18 non-metro Indian airports have shown success and benefits both airports and airlines, demonstrating the opportunities that further liberalization could
The Future of Vehicle SafetyVehicle Safety - upThe Future of the vehicle safety appears to be one of the biggest concerns for both consumers and the automotive industry. In today’s technological world, the best advancement coming down the line is that the automotive industry is constantly developing new technologies for safety. These technologies offer many of benefits such as saving lives, reducing crashes, decreasing congestion, minimizing fuel consumption, and to prevent multitasking for the unpredictable and unreliable human driver.
Ian Dawkins - Contextual Engagments At 30,000 FeetSITA
Ian Dawkins of SITA OnAir presented at the 2015 SITA IT Summit on providing connectivity solutions for passengers and airlines. He discussed how passenger expectations for connectivity have evolved with new technologies and nearly all passengers now carry personal electronic devices onboard. SITA OnAir aims to match these rising expectations by providing solutions like inflight Wi-Fi, personalized in-flight entertainment, and digital tools to enhance customer service and flight operations from nose-to-tail. Connectivity links passengers, crew, and aircraft systems to improve safety, efficiency and the overall passenger experience.
This document summarizes an autonomous vehicle project conducted by students at Bahria University in Islamabad. It discusses the technology behind autonomous vehicles and some of the ethical issues they present. Autonomous vehicles use computer vision and 3D imaging to navigate without human input, which provides benefits like increased accessibility and safety but also challenges like how to program responses in emergency situations that require choosing whether to harm the passenger or others. The conclusion calls for an override option and leaving life-and-death decisions to nature rather than programming autonomous vehicles to make those choices.

Jim Peters - Delivering The 'Always-On' Travel ExperienceSITA
SITA's Chief Technology Officer Jim Peters discusses delivering an "always-on" travel experience through cooperation and standards. To improve flight information accuracy, various data providers must share information through APIs and follow common industry standards. This will help address challenges around inconsistent data. Peters also discusses using indoor location sensing, APIs, cloud applications and business intelligence to better connect passengers, staff and developers throughout the travel experience.
Self-driving cars have been envisioned for decades but technological challenges prevented fully autonomous vehicles. In 2007, DARPA held the Urban Challenge to promote development of self-driving cars that could navigate traffic. The Carnegie Mellon University team won with its entry named BOSS, which used lasers, radar, GPS and other sensors along with advanced software to safely drive itself without human input at speeds up to 30 mph through an urban environment, interacting with other vehicles. However, challenges remain around interactions with traffic lights, pedestrians and live traffic before self-driving cars can be made widely available to consumers.

Some of the major players mentioned are Air India, Jet Airways, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Go Air. It also analyzes the macro environment factors like growing economy, middle class and potential for future growth. Low cost carriers have been gaining popularity in India and the business models of these carriers are also summarized. The document concludes with future trends of increasing passenger traffic and challenges around infrastructure constraints.
Strategic Mistakes That Led To The Failure Of Kingfisher AirlinesSourav Giri
Kingfisher Airlines made several strategic mistakes that led to its failure, including unrealistic market analysis, unrelated diversification into the airline industry, an ill-advised merger with Air Deccan, and maintaining a diversified fleet of aircraft with varying capacities. These strategic decisions demonstrated a lack of understanding of the market and industry. Additionally, high operating costs, delays in salary payments, and growing debt from unpaid fuel, airport, and service taxes exacerbated the company's financial troubles and ultimately caused its operations to be shut down in 2012.
Kingfisher Airlines was founded in 2005 and grew rapidly to become one of India's largest airlines. It aimed to target the growing middle class segment with affordable pricing and high quality service. However, Kingfisher struggled with high costs and debt, facing stiff competition from low-cost carriers. While it had a strong brand and reputation early on, Kingfisher's long-term viability depended on its ability to control costs and deliver an on-time, affordable service to customers.
The document discusses the history and development of the aviation industry in India. It covers key events from the first commercial flight in 1911 to the industry's growth period in 2007. Challenges faced in recent years are also summarized, including rising costs, a decline in demand, and miscalculations by some airlines.
