This document summarizes a hybrid approach for anaphora resolution in Hindi. It presents an annotation scheme for anaphora in a Hindi/Urdu treebank dataset. A hybrid approach is used that combines rule-based resolution of reflexive and locative pronouns with a learning-based approach using decision trees and SVMs informed by features like number, named entity, distance, and animacy. The approach is evaluated on the dataset and applications like machine translation, information extraction, and summarization are discussed.
