The elder John writes a letter to his beloved friend Gaius commending him for providing hospitality to traveling ministers. He urges Gaius to continue supporting them financially and sending them on their way in a manner worthy of God. John also criticizes a man named Diotrephes in the church who loves to be first, rejects John's authority, gossips about others, refuses hospitality to visitors, and excommunicates people. John holds up Demetrius as a good example to follow and hopes to visit Gaius in person soon.
“Faith Through The Fire” - (1 Peter; Guidance In Troubled Times) - Peter tells us that God keeps us “Through faith”, but persecution will effect our faith. The effect upon our faith however is determined by our attitude & response! The Second and Third Epistle of John are books of the New Testament attributed to John the Evangelist, traditionally thought to be the author of the Gospel of John (though this is disputed). Most modern scholars believe this is not John the Apostle, but in general there is no consensus as to the identity of this person or group.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in
truth. 2 Beloved, I pray that in all respects you
may prosper and be in good health, just as your
soul prospers. 3 For I was very glad when brethren
came and testified to your truth, that is, how you
are walking in truth. 4 I have no greater joy than
this, to hear of my children walking in the truth.

4. 5 Beloved, you are acting faithfully in whatever
you accomplish for the brethren, and especially
when they are strangers; 6 and they have testified
to your love before the church. You will do well to
send them on their way in a manner worthy of
God. 7 For they went out for the sake of the
Name, accepting nothing from the Gentiles. 8
Therefore we ought to support such men, so that
we may be fellow workers with the truth. 9 I
wrote something to the church; but Diotrephes,

accept what we say. 10 For this reason, if I come, I
will call attention to his deeds which he does,
unjustly accusing us with wicked words; and not
satisfied with this, he himself does not receive the
brethren, either, and he forbids those who desire
to do so and puts them out of the church. 11
