A Farewell To Arms Revision Presentation
Frederic Henry begins his relationship with Catherine Barkley in the winter at the start of the novel. They experience a summer of love while Henry recovers from his injuries. In the autumn, Henry returns to the retreating army and eventually deserts. He and Catherine flee to Switzerland for the winter but Catherine dies in childbirth, ending their relationship. The novel depicts the doomed love between Henry and Catherine set against the backdrop of a meaningless war.
