This document compares the costs of traditional and online learning for polytechnic colleges in Kerala post-COVID. It finds that while online learning saves on travel costs, it requires additional expenses for devices, internet, and electricity. A survey found most students are from middle-class families who have incurred these extra costs. While online learning provides flexibility, practical elements and live doubt clarification are more difficult compared to traditional offline classes. Overall, the conclusion is that online learning is less expensive for students due to savings on travel and accommodation, but offline learning is more effective and enjoyable, especially for practical components of polytechnic education.
