Overview of managing a classroom
“Studies show that teachers who are good classroom managers are able to maximize student time or
academic learning.” ( Stratton p. 1) Often times, when I walk into a classroom the first thing I notice is
how the children are behaving. When students are listening and focused on what the teacher is talking
about you know that she has a good hold on her management skills and that her students are
learning to their full potential. I have walked into a classroom where it was very chaotic, with kids were
everywhere and the noise level beyond acceptable, this is when you know that the teacher is lacking in
management which in turn, keeps the children from being successful learners. To be a successful
teacher you must have good time management, a discipline plan that’s effective and ways to help
motivate your students so they are excited to learn.

According to Stratton ( 2013), “A well managed classroom
is a task oriented environment.”
“A well managed classroom is also a predictable
environment.”
“It is the responsibility of the teacher to establish these
characteristics.”
In other words if you as a teacher show the students what
is expected of them in your classroom right away they will
always know how to behave.

“Students have clear and firm guidelines on which behaviors are allowed in the classroom and which are not,
which allows students to remain disciplined and encourage an efficient workflow,” ( Gauthier 2017 p.1)
When your students are made aware of classroom expectations right away, your class will have fewer
disciplinary issues and a better learning atmosphere.

their classrooms have twice the impact on student
achievement as do school policies regarding
curriculum, assessment, staff collegiality, and
community involvement.” (Marzano, 2003a)
By being a good leader and somebody
your students can trust and respect,
you are setting up a strong foundation
for a great learning environment.

Analysis of Information
Though the general senses among all the sources were similar, they had
different emphasis on what was the most important part of the strategy of
managing a classroom. While the first found that it was important to make an
environment that was easy for the students to navigate. The second found that
laying the ground rules of expectations right away, and the last focused on the
actions of the teacher being key to successful classroom management. All of these
things have a way of working together to help your students learn in the most
effective ways.
Connection
 The connection that I found between this strategy and a theory was that of
Charlotte Danielson and her idea for framework teaching. Her idea about having
prepared and planned teaching, classroom environment, instruction and
Professional responsibility are a good way to help keep your class maintained in an
effective way.
Conclusion
The way that a classroom is run can have a great impact on the success and/or
failure of your students educational experience. By setting your standards for what
you expect from the students right away and having a well organized lesson plan and
classroom, you will be setting your students up for success.

as the parents, as for as student
expectations, I would be sure to
communicated to them as well,
to what my expectations are.

Overview of managing a classroom “Studies show that teachers who are good classroom managers are able to maximize student time or academic learning.” ( Stratton p. 1) Often times, when I walk into a classroom the first thing I notice is how the children are behaving. When students are listening and focused on what the teacher is talking about you know that she has a good hold on her management skills and that her students are learning to their full potential. I have walked into a classroom where it was very chaotic, with kids were everywhere and the noise level beyond acceptable, this is when you know that the teacher is lacking in management which in turn, keeps the children from being successful learners. To be a successful teacher you must have good time management, a discipline plan that’s effective and ways to help motivate your students so they are excited to learn.

Credible Source #1 According to Stratton ( 2013), “A well managed classroom is a task oriented environment.” “A well managed classroom is also a predictable environment.” “It is the responsibility of the teacher to establish these characteristics.” In other words if you as a teacher show the students what is expected of them in your classroom right away they will always know how to behave.
  • 4. Credible source #2 “Students have clear and firm guidelines on which behaviors are allowed in the classroom and which are not, which allows students to remain disciplined and encourage an efficient workflow,” ( Gauthier 2017 p.1) When your students are made aware of classroom expectations right away, your class will have fewer disciplinary issues and a better learning atmosphere.
  • 5. Credible source #3 “Research has shown us that teachers' actions in their classrooms have twice the impact on student achievement as do school policies regarding curriculum, assessment, staff collegiality, and community involvement.” (Marzano, 2003a) By being a good leader and somebody your students can trust and respect, you are setting up a strong foundation for a great learning environment.   • 6. Analysis of Information Though the general senses among all the sources were similar, they had different emphasis on what was the most important part of the strategy of managing a classroom. While the first found that it was important to make an environment that was easy for the students to navigate. The second found that laying the ground rules of expectations right away, and the last focused on the actions of the teacher being key to successful classroom management. All of these things have a way of working together to help your students learn in the most effective ways.
  • 7. Connection  The connection that I found between this strategy and a theory was that of Charlotte Danielson and her idea for framework teaching. Her idea about having prepared and planned teaching, classroom environment, instruction and Professional responsibility are a good way to help keep your class maintained in an effective way.
  • 8. Conclusion The way that a classroom is run can have a great impact on the success and/or failure of your students educational experience. By setting your standards for what you expect from the students right away and having a well organized lesson plan and classroom, you will be setting your students up for success.
  • 9. Communication with Families In our to be on the same page as the parents, as for as student expectations, I would be sure to communicated to them as well, to what my expectations are.
