Communications leaders understand the existence of differences among their clients’ customer bases, however the talent creating messages is often not reflective of the customer base or potential customers. Although the concept of diversity among our talent is not new to the industry, a transformation of behavior and attitude resulting in the practice of inclusion is being actively pursued.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

As we celebrate our ve-year anniversary I want to extend my sincerest appreciation to
HPGM volunteers, members, employees and supporters. HPGM now reaches more than 750
individuals—all who are committed to the diversity of the Milwaukee community. Each one of you
has contributed to and will continue to contribute to this organization’s success. Congratulations!
Thank you for your time and thank you for your dedication to advancing our mission of creating
a dynamic environment for Hispanic professionals to thrive. We’re denitely moving in the right
direction--can you feel the momentum?
In early 2008 we made concentrated efforts to become the resource for Hispanic professionals.
We began by conducting extensive, primary research among leading Milwaukee businesses
to identify opportunities for HPGM to further engage with and support the business community.
Our efforts proved successful! We uncovered several key needs, all of which HPGM can be the
driving force behind. We found that:
• Corporations are unaware of all HPGM has to offer—we need to keep telling
our story.
• There is a need for an ambassador program that would help a company’s Human
Resources department make new recruits feel welcome within the respective
organization and in the community.
• HPGM is the only organization that can be the resource that provides corporations
with consultative services related to Hispanic culture, career development and
employee benets for Hispanic Professionals.
• These organizations want to continue to work together to develop our future
leaders though professional development.
Looking ahead, we will build on this momentum by putting these ndings into action. Doing so,
will strengthen our position as the premier Hispanic resource for the community.
During the coming year we will also continue to foster leadership, mentor, educate, provide
networking opportunities and develop new initiatives that support Hispanics and Hispanic
businesses. In addition, we will continue to recruit more corporate members and diverse board
members to grow our network, even more.
We have so much to be proud of and so much more to look forward to! Here’s to another
successful year with HPGM.

Congratulations HPGM on ve successful years. As we celebrate our anniversary, I would like to take this
moment to say thank you. Gracias for your support, time and resources for making HPGM what it is today.
A special thanks to the dedicated founding members, board members, and energetic volunteers who have
helped us to deliver our mission: To create a dynamic environment for Hispanic professionals to thrive
by fostering leadership, mentoring, education, networking, and new initiatives that support Hispanics and
Hispanic businesses.
To me, our mission means that HPGM is a connector, a HUB. We connect our members with career and
board opportunities, businesses and community partners, resources, and development workshops. We
connect emerging leaders to current leaders.
As we celebrate ve years, I believe we have been successful in being the resource that we set out to be. I
believe this because I have seen it. More importantly, I believe it because I have felt it.
In ve years, we have grown our membership to more than 400 Hispanic Professionals, more than 50
corporate nonprot/small business members, a board of 17, and an advisory board of four. Additionally, we
have given 21 or $52,500 in post-graduate scholarships to Hispanic professionals. We are one voice with
many cultures representing more than 30 countries.
Looking back on our success, I’m extremely proud and even more excited for the years to come. I’m
determined more than ever to continue to grow and develop HPGM, to continue to understand our
members’ needs and how we can be a resource for them.

There’s a question that I’ve been asking
myself a lot since I moved here in 2006.
And it’s why Milwaukee County, with
about 100,000 Hispanics, is home to
such a dynamic, well-organized Latino
community — much more organized than
larger Hispanic populations living in cities
like Chicago and Houston. There are many
theories as to why. Close geographic
quarters is one. Having the perfect mix of
Hispanics from various nationalities and
backgrounds is another. But there’s no
doubt that Hispanic Professionals of Greater
Milwaukee is just another feather in the cap
of the local Latino community. It’s incredibly
useful as a networking organization for
professional Latinos. But it does so without
losing sight of the prize: helping younger
Latinos to succeed by providing university
scholarships and mentorship opportunities.
Often in other places, when Latinos reach
a certain level of success, they begin to
lose touch with their Hispanic culture and
roots. HPGM’s networking events help us
to reinforce not only our culture, but also a
general culture of success; a can-do attitude
that is a big part of what makes Milwaukee’s
Latino community so unique.
