About
Hermandad de
Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc.
Since 1990, Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. (SIA) has
organized an annual convention to unite young, emerging female
leaders within the multi-cultural community.
This year’s convention will be hosted in Tampa, Florida from July
21-22, 2017 by SIA’s National Executive Board and the Gamma
Delta Florida Graduate Alumni Chapter.
By promoting the acquisition of knowledge and collaborative
action, SIA strives to empower today’s emerging generation of
women and leaders to better serve the communities in which
they live. Our organization hosts a national meeting and banquet
annually for all undergraduate and alumnae members from across
the country to attend.
We are writing in the hopes that your organization will consider
sponsoring or donating to help support the diverse programs
slated for SIA’s 2017 Convention Weekend. We anticipate
approximately one hundred and fifty women of primarily Latina
descent, ages 18-45 years old to be in attendance. A portion of
the proceeds received from our banquet will be donated to our
National Scholarship Fund.

SIA is a 501(c)7 tax exempt organization and
works in conjunction with the Solidaridad
Inspiración Amistad Community Foundation,
Inc., a 501(c)3 community foundation
committed to scholarship, service, and
professional development within Latino
communities nationally.
History
Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. is a
Latina-based sorority devoted to serving our
community while fostering a sense of pride
and respect in our heritage. The sorority was
founded on September 29, 1990, by thirteen
inspiring young women who came together
with the goal of creating an organization that
would help their communities, unite women
and promote scholarship.
Since its inception in 1990, our organization
has expanded outside of the State of New York
and has chartered over 60 chapters across all
50 states. We continue to dedicate ourselves to
service, academic excellence and professional
development.

S
ince our founding, Hermandad de Sigma Iota
Alpha, Inc. (SIA) has found immense value in
providingour1,100plusmembershipinvaluable
opportunities to learn from the experience of
women in leadership roles and help encourage
women to use their lives to make a difference.
One of these opportunities is our Annual Convention
and Founders Banquet, which is hosted by the
National Executive Board in collaboration with
varying undergraduate and/or graduate chapters at
a different location each year.
In 2016, our national convention was hosted in San
Juan, Puerto Rico with undergraduate, alumni, and
professional members, as well as family, colleagues,
and fellow Greek members flying in from across the
nation.
Each year, Convention Weekend begins with an
honored guest speaker, who kicks off a series of
special workshops that motivate success, and
provide exposure to positive and productive life
choices. From forum-style discussions on the role of
diversity and inclusion to professional development,
these workshops serve as a platform to encourage
the development of our nation’s female leaders.
This national convention also offers an opportunity
to recognize and celebrate the professional,
philanthropic and educational achievements of our
diverse membership. In the month leading up to
the convention and banquet, Hermanas (sisters) are
encouraged to nominate individuals and chapters
who embody SIA’s three core principles:
Solidaridad (Solidarity), Inspiración (Inspiration),
and Amistad (Friendship).
The weekend then ends with our Founder’s Banquet,
where a keynote speaker continues to promote
the weekend’s underlying theme of solidarity,
inspiration, and friendship, and individuals and
chapters within the organization are recognized
for their contributions both professionally and
philanthropically.
In much the same manner, the 27th Annual Convention
set to take place in Tampa, Florida will:
• Celebrate the 2017 SIA leaders with awards
earned by exemplifying the goals of the
organization;
• Provide networking opportunities with student
and alumni members on a Local, State and
Regional level;
• Strategically connect young women,
professionals, and entrepreneurs from multiple
industries; and
• Recognize key initiatives championed by young
professional women

ermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. provides an
outstanding opportunity for women to share
and expand on their leadership knowledge
and experience. For organizations seeking to position
themselves in close proximity to a young, diverse and
rapidly growing women’s market, sponsoring a SIA event
provides an excellent marketing vehicle.
Our events could not succeed without the financial
support of individuals, companies and business leaders
who have the vision to recognize the emerging strength
and power that exist in women.
A sponsorship with SIA is more than just a donation
to the organization. It is an investment in both our
members and your organization.
We are excited for the opportunity to invite you in
joining us on our mission to empower women to expand
their capacity to become influential leaders within our
community.
Women who join our organization are actively seeking
growth and mentorship in their personal lives, in their
family relationships, and in their business relationships.
These women are student leaders, community leaders,
entrepreneurs, and corporate professionals.
By sponsoring our National Convention, your company
will receive:
• Public Relations: A Convention sponsorship includes
shared benefits from any media attention generated by
the event.
• Recruitment: Our National Convention is attended by
young professional women. In this competitive market,
a top-notch work force is necessary. A qualified and
stellar candidate your company seeks is sure to be in
attendance!
• Marketing Opportunities: A sponsorship provides
marketing opportunities electronically (through
our e-Newsletter Noti-SIA), in print, and during the
reception (including logo placement and formal
acknowledgement during the program).
• Community Involvement: As a 501 (c)7, a sponsorship
of our event is a great way to help you achieve
community service goals by providing support to our
national and philanthropic initiatives.
• Access: As a sponsor, you have the opportunity to
make connections with businesses owned and operated
by professional women, which can provide investment
and expansion opportunities for your organization.
Please take the opportunity to support us in our goal
to make this and many more one-of-a-kind events a
success by becoming a sponsor!
