The document summarizes discussions at a student open forum regarding gender equity and sexual violence at Penn State University. Several students spoke in support of releasing campus climate survey data on sexual assault and making the university safer and more supportive for minority students and survivors of sexual violence. They encouraged collaboration between student groups to address these issues. The UPUA president then provided updates on initiatives relating to COVID safety, counseling services, and working with other student governments to prevent sexual assault.

Russian anarchist and anti-war movement in the third year of full-scale warAntti Rautiainen
Anarchist group ANA Regensburg hosted my online-presentation on 16th of May 2024, in which I discussed tactics of anti-war activism in Russia, and reasons why the anti-war movement has not been able to make an impact to change the course of events yet. Cases of anarchists repressed for anti-war activities are presented, as well as strategies of support for political prisoners, and modest successes in supporting their struggles.

9.15.21 assembly minutes
1. Student Open Forum:
College of engineering: gender equity coalition, here to support the resolution in the campus
climate surveys on sexual violence. There is an environment where sexual violence is enabled,
the culture here at Penn state needs to eb changed. The data needs to be recorded and shared,
so we can get rid of this culture. There is no reason for organizations to be at odds with one
another, rather we need to work together. I want the UPUA to do their part to empower the
diverse experts so they can help us, sign, and share our open letter, help make Penn state safer
for all its students.
Nora Van- college of liberal art: I’m here to comment on the legislation being brough today.
Last year I was asked to conduct data on sexual violence. With this a position was made to
direct this and release the survey to the public, several months later, no data was released, thus
leading us to the letter written. I believe you should be in support of this is because it is
important to keep this school safe and provide students with the information they need. We
have been left out of the loop for a while, and believe we deserve to be in the know.
Caroline- college of communications: UPUA and Schreyer gender equity coalition have the same
mission, tonight I am pleased to form a relationship between the two groups so we can end the
epidemic of sexual misconduct. I understand that you as members of the UPUA hold much
influence over this and can provide the help we need. I encourage you all to share the letter
that we have written to inform people of all that is going on and prevent these situations from
happening in the future.
Sasha smith-smeal college of business: I am here to echo what my peers have said, I am here to
talk about togetherness so we can work to create a safer community. This issue affects all of us.
In sharing the letter and graphics of it, I have been approached by many, we are business
students and sometimes things like this get overlooked. People have thanked me, but I do not
need to be thanked, as I am working to do something that should not have to be done.
Health and human development college- the experiences hold no bias in the ways in which they
manifest, it is important to address them. When there is no safe place for people to go for
minorities and others. The counseling services do not have a diverse environment. It is
apparent that we push ourselves away from the gender and race division when discussing this. I
face my abuser on a regular basis because the university has failed me. while the work to
change the narrative will work to provide those a sense of safety, my focus is to find a place for
people do the work for me and other advocates. We all deserve to have a sat at the table.
Law professor: my purpose in speaking to you all today is to encourage all of you to get
involved. Not always are the voices heard by the local government, so my purpose here is to
start a conversation that can continue on and begin the process of greater collaboration in
student populations.
Minutes:
2. Erin Boas: I volunteered the professional closet, there are volunteer slots so please volunteer,
it’s great to be able to stand there and see a student walk away in a full suit or outfit they feel
confident in, so utilize the sign-up sheet. I met with the director of student life, to discuss our
collaboration with the emergency center, which is a homeless and general resource center. On
Tuesday I went to faculty senate, I am excited to take out initiatives there and work with the
other chairs. I met with the leadership of CCSG to see what we can do there, and how we can
work with everyone. VP Rodriguez and I will be at the board of trustee meetings this week, I am
excited to meet with them and work with them. I have been working with the student body
presidents of pitt and temple to work on its on us campaign and collaborate with them. Please
utilize the headshot opportunity. Thank you for coming to the UPUA UHS wellness fund
reception. Moving further into this, thank you for all the members of the gender equity
coalition for coming out tonight, I hope to further our collaboration together. With the timely
warnings, there are far too many and we need to do something about it. I want to expand our
relationship and partnership together. One of the things I mentioned before is its on us
campaign, this was started in 2017, it gives 37 universities grant money to expand programs
against sexual misconduct and make the schools a safer place. We are looking to increase the
grant funding for the next cycle. Other than that, since the summer VP Rodriguez and I have
been working on trying to get the 2018 sexual misconduct results released, we are happy to
hear that the survey data is set to be released for early next week. The next survey will be going
out in spring 2022, there will be an advisory seat, and the gender equity coalition is the number
one place we will be looking for nominations here. Covid related has been a big part of my
week, the covid-19 data now has the positive case data and vaccination data. The masking
mandating is now put in place officially in the borough. We will be meeting with the 320
coalition and members of the borough to be expanding the vaxnow campaign, it is important
we work together to increase the vax rates.
Megan Neeley: do you know the vax information on the dashboard, is that based on the survey
or the uploaded vax records on the UHS.
Erin boas: it only reflects the fully vaccinated, and it is reflective upon the UHS.
Noah Robertson: do you know if there are nay funds of fuel divestment
Erin boas: this will be my first finance meeting, but I do not believe there will be one this time
around, but we can get that mentioned there in the near future.
Najee Rodriguez: notes we now have office hours minor Tuesdays and Thursdays Tuesdays at
two to three and then Thursdays from 12 to one be there thank you to everyone who attended
the Wellness fund launched reception we had some trustees. I'm sure those of you who have
attended saw how impactful it is how amazing it is that UPUA is taking tangible and actionable
steps to address student poverty and we're having a real impact on the university and students
who just simply cannot afford medical assistance or any activity that should exist but they don't
have like need I remind me this of course effects most underrepresented communities that has
of course affected myself which I have been honest about and I appreciate everyone for
3. showing up in supporting that four students already have been served and it passed a week ago
so that doesn't show you what trajectory that we're on. I'm so thankful for the support of this
assembly and I'm glad that it's not an institutional mechanism that will move on to bigger and
better things hopefully in the future I also participated in interviews for director of community
health with president boas and I have the upmost faith that we advocated for the candidate
that will be most student oriented in the realms of HealthEquity in the future so we're excited
about that I met with administrators from housing and food services on Tuesday first student
government leadership meeting greet that conversation transitioned into food insecurity and
the initiatives that we discussed in this assembly previously in my reports more specifically, ebt
acceptance active markets for students to opt out of the meal plan and be able to utilize that
with these systems on the case manager along with that I also brought up the idea of having
first years opt out of housing given that they display extraordinary financial need which will
hopefully really help students from of course the Commonwealth who are from low income
families and who are working their way through college to allow them to have that burden of
1000 thousands of dollars away from their anxiety for affording of course education here. so
something to keep in mind we really excited to have course update you all on that soon I met
with UPUA faculty advisor Barry last week it's always great time meeting Barry in that meeting I
discussed just the functionality of how the assembly is going Please note that there is of course
a pole for you all take in the email that Sydney sends out and there's also different forms like
the legislation amendment form that you're able to you as well please take note of that as we
get into legislation I also spoke to Barry and then eventually the chair of student fee board
about an idea that I discussed with the D&I related offices about creating the idea of creating
an equity fund within the student keyboard which would be able to facilitate projects in the
wide arena of did related initiatives met with student organizations like access club and of
course other underrepresented organizations to really speak out ideas about this I've gotten
the permission of the chair who's chair Kelly and it's been really exciting effort moving forward
president boas and I have been emphasis doing some research into how we can best advance
this given the success of the environmental sustainability fund and as you already know
president poses reports cover all the student government meetings that we will be attending I
will be in the board of trustees tomorrow and Friday so please just reach out if you need
anything at all and do not hesitate to reach out to me or contact me via my Florida number that
is listed in the agenda because I’d love to meet with you get to know you better etc.
Lewis Richardson: you mentioned creating a provision to allow students to opt out of housing,
but has there been any talk about how that is going to work etc.
Najee Rodriguez: so what happens is the office of HFS is in need of more funding for case
managers, so we can ensure that there is completion, but I want everyone to know that this is
just one tool in this tool box, there is a concern that these students who need this would miss
out on the full student experience, unfortunately that is something that might happen, but it’s
something that needs to funding in order to get there if it can go that far.
We will now move into line-item A election for association of big ten students. I will now open
the floor for nominations.
4. Aarthi Kallur: I nominate Nora O’toole.
Nora O’toole: I believe we are at the crossroads of our schools; we are handling so many things
right now. We need to collaborate with the other schools to accomplish all of this. I want to
connect us with all of the schools around us. I want to ensure that all communication is being
shared, all ideas are being shared, and we are working to solve all of our problems. I know
UPUA is bipartisan, but we need to acknowledge the political situations going on. I encourage
everyone to reach out to me with any ideas you have for ABTS
Lewis Richardson: how do you expect to use this organizations to work on issues and
benchmark them.
Nora o’toole: I would love to use this as a point of advocacy and use them as a way to get some
more POVs from other schools on issues we are dealing with to help us solve them here.
Ryan Loscalzo: historically there have been other conferences, are you planning on advocating
to bring these other conferences back into existence
Nora o’toole: yes
Annemarie Rounds-Sorenson: I was wondering if you could elaborate on your leadership
experience
Nora o’toole: I am currently the treasurer for college democrats, this has allowed me to expand
my communications skills, and learn to listen to other people.
Ryan loscalzo: how would you work to essentially make these diverse groups exist?
Nora o’toole: I would work to bring the voice to these issues and have a mindset that I do not
understand firsthand but be a voice and bring them to this conference.
Najee Rodriguez: seeing no further questions, Nora o’toole please leave the room we will come
get you after discussion. Congratulations Nora O’Toole, you have been elected unanimously.
Ben Brauser: I am very excited to be nominated as an at-large rep. I look forward to meeting all
of you and working with all of you. I grew up here in state college, I know a lot of people,
faculty, and staff. I understand the relationship[ between the university and the community at
large. I want to bridge that gap. One of the biggest disparities is the vaccination rates, there is a
huge gap of the information available. This information is detrimental to the students and the
community. One of the main this I want to advocate for is increasing medical literacy. The
hesitancy towards not getting vaccinated is the lack of information available, which I want to
encourage people to have and know. One of the main ways I want to promote vaccination
rates, is to make it extremely easy to find where to go and why. It is my hope that no student
5. has to be suspended because they have not been tested or vaccinated. So, I think it is vital that
UHS is well equip with information for students about vaccination etc.
Ryan loscalzo: upua has a number of committees, what committees do you wish to work on and
other initiatives?
Ben brauser: I was looking to see what committees are understaffed and underrepresented, I’m
not dead set on one group, I know facilities needs more help, so I am interested and willing to
help them. I really just want to talk with the rest of the directors to get a full sense of the
organization before I commit.
Carter gangl: health literacy, over 43% of people in state college live in poverty, so those people
often have less access to it, so how to you plan to incorporate that into getting them this
information?
Ben brauser: we do end up missing a huge population when we focus our advocacy digitally, so
I want to have some on the group information available, having people go out as community
ambassadors, and have paper information available, people things in businesses, the library,
etc. by doing this we can get more people to know, as there are people who do not have access
to the digital world.
Jason nelson: your linkden mentions you are in PLA, could elaborate on that?
Ben Brauser: being in this group has given me many skills that I will bring here, it also gives me
many connections that will allow me to communicate with more people to ensure we are
getting lots of POVS, and handling things in the best way possible.
Amanda Li: I believe in compassion, collaboration, and companionship; I wear my heart on my
sleeve, if I don’t know you, I will want to. I’m involved in the international student council,
tennis club, and ALSA. I want to work on racial issues, climate change, and more mobility and
help for students with disabilities. I also want to work with the international student
community and find the accurate resources that can help them with work and getting around.
Matthew DeAngelis: hearing that you are in various organizations, how much are you going to
be committed to this and how are you going to allocate your time?
Amanda Li: I’m very dedicated to UPUA, one this I have learned throughout my high schools
years serving on several clubs, it has taught me a lot about scheduling and communication,
working together to create a harmonious schedule
Sean Terrey: do you have specific initiatives for climate change?
Amanda Li: I do not have anything specific in mind, but most of my family members are
farmers, so I see how it affects agriculture a lot and I would really like to start there.
6. Patricia Birungi: what inspired to join UPUA?
Amanda Li: “we are in your corner” this drew me to UPUA, when I was at home studying, I was
alone, and I felt so left out and was scared to some here that I wasn’t going to be able to meet
people. So, I wanted to join an organization that would help me feel like I belonged and give me
purpose, so I felt that the UPUA is that. I don’t want to just someone be in a corner, but I want
to be in someone else’s. I want to learn about the issues that are present on campus and do all I
can to help.
Najee Rodriguez: seeing no further questions, I will now ask that you leave the room as we
move into discussion. Congratulations Amanda and Ben, you have been confirmed with a vote
of 29-1-0. We will now move into a swearing in by President Boas. We will now move into line-
item D. representative steeger will you please introduce this.
Hope steeger: RedZone action week is the first three months of the semester, where a good
majority of the assaults happen. Tonight, we had some great students come in and talk about
these events and the affects that they have. we will be talking about this at the Villanova game,
we will also be doing tabling events in east, as they have the most assaults out of the housing
complexes. As I was writing this bill, I kept getting alerts of assaults happening on campus. So,
this is obviously a huge issue. On this bill we have tabling in the hub, east, and south. We will
have a big poster board where they can sign saying that it is on us to stop this. there will be
flyers and they will have information on what to do if you or someone you know is assaulted, so
they will be easily and readily available. This bill is sort of common sense in my opinion, so I
hope you all consider it.
Najee Rodriguez: we will now move into discussion, being that there are no questions.
Sydney gibbard: uh basically this resolution is talking about two different trainings that UPUA
representatives and hopefully the executive branch and judicial branch will also be undergoing
these trainings as well the two different ones are Idi training which I will let speakers former
speaker Stevens and talk about and then I also I'm going to just briefly touch on stand for state
training before I hand over the mic to him but basically stand for state training comes from an
organization called Stanford state it was actually just referenced in the red zone action week
legislation you just heard and so SFS training basically will provide people with the ability to
assess risky situations whether that is involving sexual assault on or off campus but I also will
talk on social situations that you may be uncomfortable in as well so basically this training will
be conducted by Becca from the gender equity center it's normally run by SFS themselves but
their director recently stepped down from that position and they've just been restructuring the
organization a little bit and so the gender equity center is delivering their same curriculum but
with that Becca has a pretty good relationship with you and has worked with us in a bunch of
different programming aspects over the past few years and so she will be working to not just
deliver the SFS curriculum but also focus on how we as UPUA advocates can disseminate these
resources disseminate this curriculum to other organizations on campus and not just for us as
representatives to learn that curriculum but it's also an opportunity for us to either incorporate
7. that in programming or in different educational campaigns that we do and so that is with victor
after one hour training and then there's also idi training which I’ll let steven and talk about and
then I can give a little bit more context for the timeline moving forward and what that will look
like for you as representatives.
Steven Zhang: the IDI training gives a half hour questionnaire about biases and understanding
perspectives. It’s something that has been proven to be effective across cultures and countries,
so it’s not specific to the US. The questions are a lot more general. This is really important
because it really helps teach us about how to handle situations where we might not be on the
same page as other people.
Najee Rodriguez: Resolution 07-16 passes unanimously. We will now move into resolution 08-
16
Samantha Browne: a little bit about him and what he did in advocating for students mental
health so he was the co-founder of the Center for collegiate mental health this is a resource
network of over 650 colleges and universities that have gathered information and statistics
about counseling students on their campuses format to health issues so that when universities
or colleges need to gather a large statistic they could just go to this website and be able to
disseminate that information to their university which is really amazing during this time at Penn
State with caps specifically he was extremely instrumental in expanding the staff he helped
create caption actually helps create in the texting service and expanded the website so we just
wanted to write this resolution to thank him for all his hard work and dedication towards
working for mental health for students mental health on campus.
Najee Rodriguez: seeing no questions for chair Browne, we will move into questions, seeing no
questions. This resolution, 08-16 passes unanimously. We will now move into resolution 09-16.
Noah Robertson: what this resolution does it is supports the creation of a survey on election
day, we have advocated for this in the past years as attendance rates do go down on those
days. in the process of developing this to faculty senate, we want to show student support. If
you go to the appendix, then you can see the specific survey questions. We met with the
director of data analytics and developed these questions together, so we want to survey the
student body, not just at UP but the commonwealth campuses as well. There was a
conversation in steering about this also establishing the existence of this day, but I’m not so
sure about that.
Patricia Birungi: in the establishment of this, did you consider simultaneously doing the soft
edge or decided that a survey by itself would be more beneficially.
Noah Robertson: we did not talk about that, it’s still on the table, but the next step for the
UPUA is to send out the survey, so hopefully we will have this on the priorities for this year.
8. Jason Nelson: I heard of the effort to try to increase student attendance in the trustees
elections, so is there any considerations for making those elections a holiday as well?
Noah Robertson: the short answer is no, as current students cannot vote.
Najee Rodriguez: resolution 09-16 passes unanimously. We will now move into line-item H,
resolution 11-16.
Anne Marie rounds Sorenson: super triggering and so like for some people and so if you're
feeling like that I'd be happy to talk to you after just as a resource and if you like don't feel
comfortable sitting and listening to like discussions I hope that it would be a better people like
step out there uncomfortable so I just wanted to say that before I got started and I'm going to
look at my computer a little bit that's OK we worked on this resolution in like very close
coverage and guidance of the gender equity coalition I'm very proud about this part of them it's
amazing work so last week they during open student forum they mentioned that they released
this open letter with a list of demands and it can be found in the appendix if you'd like to read it
it's very sad but there are a lot of resources in there are citations that I think are really
important to look at reading the actual data is important so it's I don't know it's they already
have over 600 signatures but think that they could have more and so that's good this is just a
continuation of advocacy that they had been doing it started last year as mentioned like in the
nature of the situation so yes it's like it's just a continuation of some advocacy and so where
this is coming from, cause I'm like all wired up cause this is a stressful topic but anyway sorry so
since we came back to school like when already started returning there have been ten timely
mornings for forcible sex offenses and so right now is like it's really important that we're
showing students that we're here for them and that we support them and it's an opportunity
for us to be a microphone to student advocacy happening on this issue instead of speaking over
them and so I think that it's really important. if you look at the nature of the situation I have
some statistics there that I got from the gender identity coalitions Instagram they're really
jarring because as like a graphic on their Instagram post like only three percent of victims of
sexual assault report there's like their story to the Penn State office of student conduct and that
statistic is from 2015 which is outdated which is the point of releasing the 2018 statistics and
doing new survey so I do recognize the statistics is old but that means that closer to 300
students have been sexually assaulted since we returned, that's really sad and it's really awful
and so it's really important that we join him in advocacy and like expand our efforts I know that
there are already so many things happening in UPUA where to like toggle list issue so I'mhappy
that we're like just flushing that out and doing more so to the recommended course of action
we would give you, essentially you would be supporting like full heartedly to work with the
gender equity coalition, doing and then we would also be charging president boas with using
mass emailing privileges which we did like talk about and I hope that like if it passes that
happens because it would be a wonderful way to show university administration moving
forward that there are people concerned with this and so we could get more signatures and
show students like that we are listening and it they can also sign their own names and the allies
so yeah the data hasn't been released and that's all in there we would also recharging the
Department of Public relations with disseminating graphics solely created by the gender equity
9. center so like we're not like rebranding them to be like UPUA we're sharing work that's already
been done so I think that that's important to point out and then the sorry the link to the
petition where are the open letter would be added to the link tree I don't know how that works
but I would be happy to like talk with someone after about that I think that would be a really
easy way for people to access the form even if they don't see it through the email for some
reason so it's just like safeguard to make sure that people are seeing it I think that that's pretty
much it. there is special acknowledgement to be current and former members of the gender
equity coalition on their names were all there a lot of them were here earlier, so yea I stand for
any questions.
Najee Rodriguez: seeing no questions, I open the floor for discussion
Erin Boas: last year one of the feedback pieces we got and we mentioned this in our policy
genius last spring as well was there was a greater need for collaboration with communication
with those directors with the legislative branch in crossing for organization so as we mentioned
in that policy restructuring none of those director positions went away they just got remove
into that department of community relations so that they could have better collaboration and
communication with the assembly and the organization at large Speaking of that those
positions are now available on posted on the website you also posted graphics about them so
please spread them we need to fill student experts in this positions to make sure that we're not
only focusing a week or two weeks or part of our semester on these issues but rather
prioritizing these issues is the main thing that we do as an organization broadly tired here on
the topic of mass email I'm just to give further clarity on how that works so a mass email for me
to send out takes at least two to five days to get approved so the content itself does not have
to get improved they check it for vulgarity and stuff like that but also to make sure that it's an
authorized user that sending out on the university listserv so I talked briefly with the students
from the gender equity coalition during caucus breakout and we're going to be meeting to
discuss about what that content would be like of the mask email anyone else would like to be
part of that conversation just let me know as soon as possible, but once that date release also
because we've been told it's in release next week please also share the data it's not many
students check their email not many students checked end state news but please make sure
that you're sharing data make sure that you're sharing everything that we can to amplify the
priority that that we have on the need for sexual assault awareness.
Najee Rodriguez: resolution 11-16 passes unanimously. We will now move into judicial report.
Jordan Zaia: judicial board met this past Monday we're going to be changing our time from 6:00
o'clock PM on Mondays to 7:30 tentatively there was some conflicts with some of the
schedules so I was trying to make it work for the rest of the members board I also sent out the
first round of emails for our clerk interviews those will take place next week most likely on
Monday and Tuesday ending their responses on what works and furthermore I have contacted
performing Arts Council president Brian crawl to let him know that the review process will
begin at our meeting this Monday for their community receipt and the governing documents
10. and documents concerning hearings and complaints have been posted to the website to
utilized
Sarah Jordan: the cabinet met on Monday, we went through all our executive director reports,
we still have applications open, please spread the word and spread the graphics. Thank you to
all those who went to lion bash, it was great really fun! With that being said, with tabling, we
need help, it’s hard for steering to do all the shifts, so with that being said, I’m going to send a
RedZone action tabling sheet, so please sign up. If you have any questions, please let me know.
We also head record interviews this past Monday, so we will be adding more department of
record directors. If you have any questions about the budget or bill, please send your questions
to me. please check teams and react in teams so I know you guys saw it.
Anthony Avella: for the website, if anything needs to be updated, please come to me. also, the
contact sheet was last updated in the spring, so if that’s the case just update that.
Amy Garry: dan and I finished going through applications, we are going to have 55 interviews
this week and the crew will be figured out by the end of next week.
Sydney gibbard: so steering, 11 interviews weren’t that bad compared to the 55 for first year
council but also just to touch on that to explain the process for picking first your
representatives basically what's going to happen is that they'll nominate five different students
who checked off a box indicating that they would be interested in a little bit of a larger time
commitment being the first-year representative. they'll send them to steer and then steering
will pick two of those students to serve as first year representatives, the first-year council
directors will also be serving on that like kind of selection committee as well. so, I just wanted
you all to be aware if you're wondering how those first-year reps were picked out of like the
group basically. other than that, I would say that we did connect with Brian Kroll he presented
earlier today about PAC, and he has recently applied for a community Group C application
which we’ll keep you updated about tha.t thank you so much to Chief Justice Zaia and Megan
Neely for the collaboration there. also your external events are due next Friday, an easy way to
get an external event was just submitting a gen-ed course idea and just screenshotting your
submission to me but I just wanted to remind you I’ve had a couple people reach out to me
saying oh hey like I'm attending my student council meeting does that count, that definitely
counts, faculty Senate counts, so feel free to reach out to me if you aren't sure about an event
that you've participated in whether that counts. I met with GPS a president Sean Franklin and
representative last also to talk about rank choice voting we had a conversation in steering
about that and how that could actually be implemented within the UPUA I'm definitely
continuing that conversation with Chief Justice Zaia and then the rest of the judicial board
because they are really the ones who oversee elections and I want to make sure it's feasible on
their part and they see it meaningful for our organization to do elections that way but the fact
that the PSA has done it definitely gives us some context for student government elections
thank you all so much for voting yes on the IDI training and SFS training I'm extremely excited
about that I think it's going to be not just a great way for you to gain skills like in leadership in
advocacy but also to like bring us together and like really unify our purpose in this organization
11. and I want to of course give a huge thank you to Steven for all your work you've done over the
past year for that like really especially with the Idi training like he really basically just hitting me
off and I just had to present it to you but it was really all him um so thank you for that been all
going also to COVID ad-hoc meeting today kind of took to discuss the committee as a whole and
how to stay in communication because obviously share Nelson will not be like actually
attending steering meetings but however we can still facilitate that communication and update
the rest of the organization that way and I also want to thank chair brown for going to the
watercolor painting and I really enjoyed it also we are in the process of filling in IFC seat so I've
been talking to the president of IFC Greg McNicholas about this so you should see an IFC
confirmation coming soon so get excited about that and then one thing posting more sorry oh
right so yes I was actually going to talk with us so one last thing I just wanted to mention is that
I know a lot of chairs have been expressing in steering like that some people have not been
attending their committee meetings or haven't been fully engaged and that totally is
understandable through a lot going on I know it's a hard transition back to the school year and
I've been trying to be super lenient with your attendance when you come to assembly and
everything I will say that you have the chance to get three attendance points for a semester so
just keep that in mind you can also use those wisely so if you have a for example you have a
meeting that you wouldn't actually get excused for and if you attended that instead of UPUA
General Assembly meeting that's totally fine and like you can make those decisions every once
in a while but I just wanted to let you know that it's a central that you're continuing especially if
you're made like an important leadership role within a programming week or within an
initiative to constantly communicate with your chairs just so that they know what's going on
even if like you know even if your communication is have a lot going on this week like I can't
take on this role just so that they can cover whatever is needed because especially for some of
these bills we have to pass 12 times so highlight that we can purchase and stay that way they
aren't coming to the floor by 2/3 and you're all informed about legislation coming it's also your
constitutional duty to repost you UPUA thing so when they post things in the UI Instagram it's
actually part of our constitution that representatives are required to share and disseminate
social media posts and whatever type of resources UPUA is putting out so I just wanted to
remind you that but of course if you have any questions for me feel free to reach out
Lewis Richardson: faculty senate Tuesday went really well for those of you who were there
thank you so much for those of you who weren't there still on the hook for your reports those
people were there again you're obviously going to offer a ports to those we do next Monday
and you can find information for that email last week I know there were some issues with the
options form cause it was like not add was like the editing form I'll send that out to you again
with an actual version that you can fill out if you're going to miss any event or committee
whether it be a mentor event faculty Senate committee meeting anything of that sort not
General Assembly related but committee related please fill out that form it will make it really
easy for us to not you points moving in the next week we're going to start assigning points for
absences and not filling out the form so yeah just be sure to do that everything else my report
bottom this agenda.
12. Jason Nelson: I’m giving this report on behalf of Cara, our third committee meeting will be on
Thursday. If you cannot make it, please reach out to me or Cara, we are also looking into a
different time to meet. There are 2 surveys for you to fill out. We are looking to the feasibility
for the bus route, we have a meeting this week about this. we also have a meeting with SDS.
Joshua Reynolds is having a meeting with pollock residence hall to talk about virtual id cards.
We are also talking about what to fix day, we are trying to reach more constituents. While we
are looking forward to what to fix day, do not what until then, please reach out to me or Cara.
Samuel Ajah: chair Meeder asked me to just say that if you have any questions, please reach
out to her.
Aarthi kallur: please share graphics that are out, I will update you on when we decide to close
it. I’m ordering supplies for we care/school supplies week. I couldn’t order them to the hub so I
have 10 boxes at my apartment, so if someone can help me out with that, that would be great.
Other than that, I met with the director of data analytics to talk about the housing survey, so if
anyone has any ideas with that, please let me know. Lastly, I met with the PRCC today, it was
wonderful, if you have any suggestions, please let me know.
Samantha Browne: red zone action we thank you guys so much for passing the bill I'm so
excited to have this tabling across campus and targeting these specific areas Speaking of tabling
I am bringing back a 14 assembly AAC chair tradition um offering up a gift card for the person
who tables the most so if you sign up on this guy I would count whatever tables the most it's a
gift card from me to your you know whatever you decide whatever place you want so I hope
that helps, I shouldn't have to do that, but I really hope that that will increase cabling as it's
extremely important professional attire closet make sure you're volunteering for that that's
also really important I think representative Reynolds had a really great experience there and he
shared it in our group meeting today so that's really awesome and yeah I think that's pretty
much it enjoy your weekend
Najee Rodriguez: we will now move into comments for the good of the order
Joshua Reynolds: there will be a vigil on Friday; also, the professional attire closet needs smaller
size men’s clothes so please consider donating if you can.
Anne-Marie Rounds Sorenson: college democrats are hosting a trivia night, if you want to play
with us, please do, its $5, there will be different rounds.
Jason Nelson: the student against sexual violence is meeting this week, so please reach out to
find out more information and attend. An untimely warning protest on October 1st will be
taking place. The covid-committee is looking for new members, last meeting we talked about
continuing masking during outdoor events and expanding student sections so there is more
room. The committee was made aware that many classes being exposed to covid does not
count as an excused absence, and if you miss 3 classes, you fail. So, this is affecting students
13. negatively, so we are looking to work with the proper people to talk about how to approach
this.
Ryan Loscalzo: next weekend, rash cinemas is going to be back, free movies in the hub; next
Monday, QTPAC is having its meeting, get to know people, be an ally. Penn state drag society is
having a drag event, it is $5. Tomorrow through next Thursday is bisexuality awareness week,
bisexuality is when you are attracted to people of your gender and others, it is an umbrella
term for other sexualities as well. Bi people are valid no matter what! Bisexuality is a valid
sexuality; it is not a steppingstone.
Steven Zhang: student round table, I brought up people not being excused for covid- so I am in
contact with some people about this, so if you know anyone that is in this situation, please let
me know.
Marie misener: tomorrow, the lambda theta alpha will be holding an event, so please come!
Najee Rodriguez: seeing no further comments, secretary campos will you please take closing
role.
