1) In 1993, Brooks Memorial Hospital issued a request for information to leading healthcare information systems vendors to evaluate which system to select. Meditech scored highly based on criteria like stability, presence in New York, costs, and existing clients of similar size and needs.
2) Meditech received the highest scores of the six shortlisted vendors after onsite demonstrations and reference calls to existing clients. It also had the strongest user manuals.
3) In the final vote by Brooks' departments, Meditech overwhelmingly won, capturing 29 out of a possible 30 points across departments. This led the hospital to select Meditech without conducting remaining stages of evaluation.
