8 Ways to Eat Healthier for West Thames College StudentsAnamaria Busic
Â
Good nutrition and exercise are of paramount importance for maintaining healthy body and mind. In todayâs world saturated in easily accessible, high in fat, sugar and salt food it can be difficult to maintain healthy eating habits. Furthermore, it can be hard to motivate ourselves to be physically active when our lives increasingly revolve around social media and technology. All of that can lead to poor physical and mental health as well as to under-achievement at school. Follow the advice on this presentation for healthier lifestyle and maximise your chances for success on your course.
As children we learn how to share with others and in the words of Darwin "In the long history of humankind (and animal kind too) those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed". Through the ubiquitous adoption of the internet there has been an exponential growth of information shared. The use of digital technologies such as social networking tools and smart devices have enabled individuals to connect, communicate, curate, collaborate and create. An array of user-generated multimedia artefacts are now shared that can be discussed, debated and critiqued. As educators it is through knowledge sharing and socially mediated interactions that we can make a difference. However it is not simply the giving or receiving of information, but about the new co-learning opportunities we can make (Rheingold); the ability to develop new capacities for action and change (Grey); and how we create knowledge and leverage it (Wenger). My keynote presentation will consider the concept of shareology and connectedness through social media and the value of working out loud.
Massive Sustainable Learning SDGs for 2016 Global Education Conference richar...Chrysalis Campaign, Inc.
Â
Massive, Self-Sustainable Collaborative Learning. The unabridged version of UN HQ session on Education and Sustainable Development Goals SDGs presented 2/2016.
Full Session Description (as long as you would like):
This is an expanded version of the SDG and Education session presented at Sustainable Development Goals SDGs in the UN HQ. The unabridged version includes many of the issues, and heated complaints, brought in discussions after the session. Many of the issues focused around the sanitization of culture out of curriculum when culture is a driving force to learn and build communities.
The session provides a series of cases on how massive global collaborative learning events impact the work both in global reach (breadth) and (depth) in transformation perception and technology.
The session also covers massive cultural learning transformations in relation to poverty and self-perception. The US is used as a case of a poor colonial nation and becuase of learning events evoluted into a massive inventive force. In addition how massive learning events such as the Novel and Microsoft certification programs people entrenched markets, such as IBMâs computer monopoly.
These global learning events, such as Microsoft Cloud cell phone banking, create grounds for massive shifts in both how and what we learn.
This is relevant for a global educators to grasp because key student motivators are latent within the classroom on massive shifts.
UN SDGs is also a great framework for a student on becoming global social citizens.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Â
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.

Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
Â
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Why Do We...
remember tragedies like the Holocaust when it would be less
painful to forget? Most survivors believe that we must acknowl-
edge the mass genocide of six million Jews so that we donât let
similar events happen again. Well, since Adolf Hitler established
a systematic method to âpurifyâ Nazi Germany, weâve had Cam-
bodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur. Itâs easy to say ânever forget,â
but these are just words until we rid the world of the kind of
intolerance Hitlerâs regime represented.
STILL, ITâS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER,
so that we understand the human faces of the
Holocaust. Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day,
in which schools around the world will remember
the millions who died in the Holocaust, as well as
the many more who survived.

Technology Has
Impacted..
the classroom in numerous ways, including how teachers present this import-
ant information to students. We believe that digital tools make it easierânot
harderâfor students to learn about the Holocaust, and have come up with
creative ways that educators can use technology to teach about this important
chapter in human history.

8 Ways to Teach
the Holocaust:1. Video Stream Survivor Testimonies with Skype
A Catholic school in Minnesota recently broadcasted Holocaust survivor Steen
Metzâs story to their student body, and they used video conferencing software
Skype to make this happen. Many survivors are elderly and unable to travel, or
live in different places throughout the world. Skype enables survivors to share
their testimonies anyway.
2. Use Periscope to Present Guest Lectures
At universities around the world, there are highly respected academics who
specialize in Holocaust Studies. What if a high school teacher wanted one of
these academics to share important information to her students, but couldnât
get the academic to come in person? Periscope is a live streaming app that
would allow this academic to present a guest lecture from a separate location.
info@live)les.nyc @LiveTilesUI www.live)les.nyc
5. 5info@live)les.nyc @LiveTilesUI www.live)les.nyc
3. Integrate Ted Talks into your Intranet
There are a number of provocative Ted Talks about topics related to the Holo-
caust, such as Paul Bloomâs âCan prejudice ever be a good thingâ and Gordon
Brownâs âGlobal ethic. vs. national interest.â These Ted Talks can be integrated
into a classroomâs intranet, and are bound to start a stimulating discussion.
4. Have Students Collaborate on OneNote
One way to teach about the Holocaust is to have a group of students create a
memorial. Collaboration software like OneNote will allow them to share im-
portant information outside of class.
6. 6info@live)les.nyc @LiveTilesUI www.live)les.nyc
5. Stream Classic Holocaust Movies to Compliment Readings
Of course, students should read the canonical texts of the Holocaust, but this
wonât be enough. To compensate for textbooks, teachers can upload Holocaust
movies like Schindlerâs List (1993) or The Pianist (2002) to the classroomâs in-
tranet for students to watch on their own time.
6. Take a Virtual Tour of Holocaust Museums
While it would be ideal to take students to Holocaust museums, some schools
donât have the budget, and others are just too far away. Rather than give up
all together, teachers can arrange virtual tours of museums, like The Holocaust
Memorial Center in Michigan.
7. 7info@live)les.nyc @LiveTilesUI www.live)les.nyc
7. Assign Group Presentations on Sway
Want your students to present an important Holocaust topic that wasnât cov-
ered in class? Sway allows users to create and share interactive presentations,
which will undoubtedly lead to some profound discussions.
8. Embed YouTube Videos to Engage Students
There are a plethora of fascinating YouTube videos about the Holocaust that
can spark a dialogue, such as âWhy Do People Still Deny The Holocaust?â
Teachers can assign these videos as a homework assignment and have students
come prepared to discuss the next day.
8. 8
The lessons of the Holocaust arenât pleasant, but they are important,
and every citizen of the world should learn them. Technology enhances the
classroom experience, and can help remind students about the Holocaust
on this important day.
