After leaving schools, 8 "student thinking" that hurt you
In the past three months, another partner and I spent
hundreds of hours on a practical project with a group of
high school, college students, and self-students. My role is
not a teacher, but more like Mentor or Coach. I don’t do it
myself, just " "Open a mouth" to accompany them to
discuss, implement, review, and optimize, and then repeat
the above actions continuously.
During this period of time, several students have performed
amazingly in many places, and their "ability" is definitely the best
among their peers. However, from them, I deeply feel that
Taiwan’s education places too much emphasis on the
transmission of "knowledge" while ignoring the "most important
things."
The project came to an end. The consensus between me and
another Mentor is that we are not looking forward to the
improvement of our students ’skills. We will learn them again; but
what we care most about is what kind of "thinking" they develop
because of a A good "work attitude" will follow them forever!
How to seize new business opportunities with new thinking and
grow up to new peaks after the epidemic?
The following 8 thoughts are exactly what I think "students" should
completely leave behind:
1. Only division of labor, no "cooperation"
[The most common in school] When reporting in groups, everyone
starts to divide the work, each person is responsible for a part,
and another person is responsible for the "integration." Finally,
hand over the respective parts to the unified "sufferer", cut, paste,
and paste the format. A report that seems to be the same thing
can be handed in. Everyone has scored. The question is, can you
read the report?
[The real world of the workplace] Of course, jobs need
to be assigned, but it’s not as good as the assignment
is complete, but everyone must be clear about their
role, and they should continue to consciously and
regularly discuss things in a constant frequency to
understand each other’s The progress and whether
they need to cooperate with each other, so that the
final product will be "a product" instead of collaged
loose sand. This is "product thinking": everyone knows
that they are responsible for the entire product, not
just the screws.
2. Being a person and not doing things is not as good as "doing things but not doing
things"
[The most common in school] It’s time to report in groups again. Hurry up and grab
good friends, good brothers or roommates in the same group, and then find that
some group members are not progressing as expected, or they are acting badly,
missing, and grouping with strangers. The team will also encounter this situation,
but in order not to offend people or even treat friends, they have to swallow it
themselves.
[The real world of the workplace] "Being a human" is of course important, but since
we gather together for "doing things," there is no reason for those who should
communicate and the showdown to swallow them by themselves, and there is no
need to tie their hands and feet in order to be human. In communication, we must
adhere to the principle of "right to the matter and not to the person". Sometimes
everyone has their own difficulties. Only by further understanding can it be possible
to break the deadlock or redistribute powers and responsibilities. This is the
"responsible attitude": we are responsible for things, even if we are people, we are
doing things well.
3. Meetings are not for discussion, but for "finalizing"
[The most common in school] There are countless "meetings" whether it is
group reports, participating in various competitions, or holding activities. The
problem is that if each meeting is not very lengthy, or it is inefficient, there is
no conclusion at the end, or it is good to play and have a good relationship,
but we are not here to make friends! ?
[The real world of the workplace] Except for a few jobs, various meetings
every day are basically the norm. The key is not the meeting, but "pre-
meeting preparation". A good meeting is decided before the scheduled
meeting, and there must be a clear purpose of the meeting and The outline,
determine the roles/rights and responsibilities of each participant, and their
respective needs to provide information, and ensure that everyone has read
the information before the meeting and came with their own ideas and
decisions. Meetings are not to express their opinions, but to make decisions;
to save time, not to waste time.
4. Don't wait for the answer, but propose a "plan"
[I often encounter as Mentor] Some students come to ask questions. The
beginning is "What should I do if I have a problem with XX?", "How do I do
YY?", "Can you help me see ZZ?" ㄟ This doesn't seem to be mine
Homework or work? Behind these questions reflects the mentality of "waiting
for answers," or throwing one's own responsibility to others.
[One of the problems of education in Taiwan] Most people are used to being
fed by answers, thinking that there will be a standard answer. In fact, most of
them don't have standard answers. When you encounter problems in the
workplace, you are not asking the supervisor what to do. That is the most
irresponsible behavior. Instead, first analyze the problem, search for
information and cases as much as possible, propose various solutions, and
the applicability and pros and cons of different solutions, and then go to
Mentor or the supervisor to discuss. This process is "learning": the
experience of others is of course good, but to get the answer directly, the
experience will always be other people.
5. When it comes to speaking, we must "do it"
[Most common in school] Often when meeting or competing between friends,
someone will inadvertently mention how some things can actually be done
and he can also help, or it is as simple as asking someone to come out and
have a party together. But usually, you will find that when you are concerned
about the progress, if you haven't done anything yet, or you have forgotten
about it, you will only get it done after a month or two of procrastination.
[The real world of the workplace] Whether it is an annual project, or just a
small matter such as an appointment for a meal or a meeting record, as long
as it is something you "promise", the time is up and the thing is about to
happen, there is no second possibility. These all represent your "credit", no
matter how big or small things are, you must overcome all difficulties. Even if
something is delayed, you should inform the person in advance, explaining
the reason and the specific time to complete the change.
6. Finishing does not mean "doing well"
[The most common thing in school] After the assignment of the work, I waited
until the death line with an uneasy mood. In the end, what everyone threw
out was not the same as the original discussion, or it was unsatisfactory and
unusable at all. Every time, the person who becomes the last person in
charge of "unification" must be the suffering master, and he will not sleep to
finish all the work that should be remedied and finished. Do you think you are
really taking advantage?
[The real world of the workplace] If the job is not 100 points or even 120
points, it should not be handed over at all. Because everything we have
handled represents our own "personal brand." Colleagues, customers, or
supervisors don’t necessarily know who you are, but they definitely
remember your “work attitude” and will have an impression of your “work
results”. If you just “hand over” things, it’s good, 60 points The label will
always follow you, without knowing how to die in the workplace.
7. Networking is not about how many people you know, but about "do yourself well"
[The most common in school] There are always people who love to brag about
knowing someone who is so and so, KOL, or which senior sister is her friend.
Otherwise, how many activities have been run, what elite gatherings have been
invited to, and which well-known companies have internships However, how many
friends do you have on Facebook, how many experiences/Titles you have posted,
how many people follow on IG, and how many people have liked your posts. It
seems that having these "numbers" means that you have more "connections"?
[The real world of the workplace] To be honest, it’s useless to know how many
people you know. If you don’t have a credit and don’t do well when you get things
done, even if you know 100 people, it just means that 100 people know it. You are
an "untrustworthy" person. The essence of networking is "trust." First do yourself
well, do your best in everything you promised and handle. Even if you only know 10
people, these 10 people will trust you to more people.
8. What evaluates you is not numbers, but "your behavior"
[The most common in school] When students are students, most people can’t help
but care about the test scores, how high the average is at the end of the semester,
how many classes are arranged, or how many people won the competition at the
end, how many people participated in the activities, Whether the elected
representatives and cadres were finally elected. Even if they leave society and enter
the workplace, many people will still be lost in their performance, traffic,
performance appraisal, whether they have won awards, or are afraid that others will
not know that they have merit... etc.
[The real world of the workplace] Things will never end at the moment of "handing
over". Yes, you will get a number right now, which may come from a teacher,
supervisor, client or peer, but that only represents the "you of the present", but it
does not mean the "you of the future." And life is an "infinite game." The key is not
this result, but whether you can review it immediately and optimize it next time.
That's how others really remember you.

三和一善 | 社会に出た後にあなたを傷つける8つの「学生の思考」

  • 2. After leaving schools, 8 "student thinking" that hurt you In the past three months, another partner and I spent hundreds of hours on a practical project with a group of high school, college students, and self-students. My role is not a teacher, but more like Mentor or Coach. I don’t do it myself, just " "Open a mouth" to accompany them to discuss, implement, review, and optimize, and then repeat the above actions continuously.
  • 3. During this period of time, several students have performed amazingly in many places, and their "ability" is definitely the best among their peers. However, from them, I deeply feel that Taiwan’s education places too much emphasis on the transmission of "knowledge" while ignoring the "most important things." The project came to an end. The consensus between me and another Mentor is that we are not looking forward to the improvement of our students ’skills. We will learn them again; but what we care most about is what kind of "thinking" they develop because of a A good "work attitude" will follow them forever!
  • 4. How to seize new business opportunities with new thinking and grow up to new peaks after the epidemic? The following 8 thoughts are exactly what I think "students" should completely leave behind: 1. Only division of labor, no "cooperation" [The most common in school] When reporting in groups, everyone starts to divide the work, each person is responsible for a part, and another person is responsible for the "integration." Finally, hand over the respective parts to the unified "sufferer", cut, paste, and paste the format. A report that seems to be the same thing can be handed in. Everyone has scored. The question is, can you read the report?
  • 5. [The real world of the workplace] Of course, jobs need to be assigned, but it’s not as good as the assignment is complete, but everyone must be clear about their role, and they should continue to consciously and regularly discuss things in a constant frequency to understand each other’s The progress and whether they need to cooperate with each other, so that the final product will be "a product" instead of collaged loose sand. This is "product thinking": everyone knows that they are responsible for the entire product, not just the screws.
  • 6. 2. Being a person and not doing things is not as good as "doing things but not doing things" [The most common in school] It’s time to report in groups again. Hurry up and grab good friends, good brothers or roommates in the same group, and then find that some group members are not progressing as expected, or they are acting badly, missing, and grouping with strangers. The team will also encounter this situation, but in order not to offend people or even treat friends, they have to swallow it themselves. [The real world of the workplace] "Being a human" is of course important, but since we gather together for "doing things," there is no reason for those who should communicate and the showdown to swallow them by themselves, and there is no need to tie their hands and feet in order to be human. In communication, we must adhere to the principle of "right to the matter and not to the person". Sometimes everyone has their own difficulties. Only by further understanding can it be possible to break the deadlock or redistribute powers and responsibilities. This is the "responsible attitude": we are responsible for things, even if we are people, we are doing things well.
  • 7. 3. Meetings are not for discussion, but for "finalizing" [The most common in school] There are countless "meetings" whether it is group reports, participating in various competitions, or holding activities. The problem is that if each meeting is not very lengthy, or it is inefficient, there is no conclusion at the end, or it is good to play and have a good relationship, but we are not here to make friends! ? [The real world of the workplace] Except for a few jobs, various meetings every day are basically the norm. The key is not the meeting, but "pre- meeting preparation". A good meeting is decided before the scheduled meeting, and there must be a clear purpose of the meeting and The outline, determine the roles/rights and responsibilities of each participant, and their respective needs to provide information, and ensure that everyone has read the information before the meeting and came with their own ideas and decisions. Meetings are not to express their opinions, but to make decisions; to save time, not to waste time.
  • 8. 4. Don't wait for the answer, but propose a "plan" [I often encounter as Mentor] Some students come to ask questions. The beginning is "What should I do if I have a problem with XX?", "How do I do YY?", "Can you help me see ZZ?" ㄟ This doesn't seem to be mine Homework or work? Behind these questions reflects the mentality of "waiting for answers," or throwing one's own responsibility to others. [One of the problems of education in Taiwan] Most people are used to being fed by answers, thinking that there will be a standard answer. In fact, most of them don't have standard answers. When you encounter problems in the workplace, you are not asking the supervisor what to do. That is the most irresponsible behavior. Instead, first analyze the problem, search for information and cases as much as possible, propose various solutions, and the applicability and pros and cons of different solutions, and then go to Mentor or the supervisor to discuss. This process is "learning": the experience of others is of course good, but to get the answer directly, the experience will always be other people.
  • 9. 5. When it comes to speaking, we must "do it" [Most common in school] Often when meeting or competing between friends, someone will inadvertently mention how some things can actually be done and he can also help, or it is as simple as asking someone to come out and have a party together. But usually, you will find that when you are concerned about the progress, if you haven't done anything yet, or you have forgotten about it, you will only get it done after a month or two of procrastination. [The real world of the workplace] Whether it is an annual project, or just a small matter such as an appointment for a meal or a meeting record, as long as it is something you "promise", the time is up and the thing is about to happen, there is no second possibility. These all represent your "credit", no matter how big or small things are, you must overcome all difficulties. Even if something is delayed, you should inform the person in advance, explaining the reason and the specific time to complete the change.
  • 10. 6. Finishing does not mean "doing well" [The most common thing in school] After the assignment of the work, I waited until the death line with an uneasy mood. In the end, what everyone threw out was not the same as the original discussion, or it was unsatisfactory and unusable at all. Every time, the person who becomes the last person in charge of "unification" must be the suffering master, and he will not sleep to finish all the work that should be remedied and finished. Do you think you are really taking advantage? [The real world of the workplace] If the job is not 100 points or even 120 points, it should not be handed over at all. Because everything we have handled represents our own "personal brand." Colleagues, customers, or supervisors don’t necessarily know who you are, but they definitely remember your “work attitude” and will have an impression of your “work results”. If you just “hand over” things, it’s good, 60 points The label will always follow you, without knowing how to die in the workplace.
  • 11. 7. Networking is not about how many people you know, but about "do yourself well" [The most common in school] There are always people who love to brag about knowing someone who is so and so, KOL, or which senior sister is her friend. Otherwise, how many activities have been run, what elite gatherings have been invited to, and which well-known companies have internships However, how many friends do you have on Facebook, how many experiences/Titles you have posted, how many people follow on IG, and how many people have liked your posts. It seems that having these "numbers" means that you have more "connections"? [The real world of the workplace] To be honest, it’s useless to know how many people you know. If you don’t have a credit and don’t do well when you get things done, even if you know 100 people, it just means that 100 people know it. You are an "untrustworthy" person. The essence of networking is "trust." First do yourself well, do your best in everything you promised and handle. Even if you only know 10 people, these 10 people will trust you to more people.
  • 12. 8. What evaluates you is not numbers, but "your behavior" [The most common in school] When students are students, most people can’t help but care about the test scores, how high the average is at the end of the semester, how many classes are arranged, or how many people won the competition at the end, how many people participated in the activities, Whether the elected representatives and cadres were finally elected. Even if they leave society and enter the workplace, many people will still be lost in their performance, traffic, performance appraisal, whether they have won awards, or are afraid that others will not know that they have merit... etc. [The real world of the workplace] Things will never end at the moment of "handing over". Yes, you will get a number right now, which may come from a teacher, supervisor, client or peer, but that only represents the "you of the present", but it does not mean the "you of the future." And life is an "infinite game." The key is not this result, but whether you can review it immediately and optimize it next time. That's how others really remember you.
