Server
 A server is a computer program or a
machine that waits for requests from
other machines or software and clients
responds to them. A server typically
processes data. The purpose of a
server is to share data resources
among clients.
Typical kinds of servers
 Database server
 Mail server
 Web server
 Game server
 Application server

Browser
 A software application for retrieving,
presenting, and traversing information
resources on the World Wide Web.
Browsers include:
 Back and forward buttons to go back to
the previous resource and forward
respectively.
 A refresh or reload button to reload the
current resource.
 A stop button to cancel loading the
resource. In some browsers, the stop
button is merged with the reload button.
 A home button to return to the user's home
page.
 An Address bar
Cookie
 Small piece of data sent from a website and
stored in the user's web browser while the user is
browsing it.
 Every time the user loads the website, the browser
sends the cookie back to the server to notify the
user's previous activity.
 Cookies were designed to be a reliable
mechanism for websites to remember information
(such as items added in the shopping cart in an
online store) or to record the user's browsing
activity (including clicking particular buttons,
logging in, or recording which pages were visited
in the past).
 Cookies can also store passwords and form
content a user has previously entered, such as a
credit card number or an address.
Cloud
 If you use any kind of social media or
online data drive, you're already using the
cloud; you just may not realize it.
So what is the cloud?
 The cloud is a network of servers, and
each server has a different function.
Some servers use computing power to
run applications or "deliver a service."
 For example, Adobe recently moved its
creative services to the cloud. You can
no longer buy the Creative Suite
(Photoshop, Premier Pro, etc) in a box
set. Instead, you must pay a monthly
subscription fee to use each individual
service. That's why it's now called the
“Adobe Creative Cloud" instead.
URL address
 Informally termed a web address
 a reference to a web resource that
specifies its location on a computer
network and a mechanism for
retrieving it.
 The WEB ADDRESS goes in the
ADDRESS BAR of your internet
browser.
