Miss Roberts' social studies class is beginning a project where students assume the role of advisors to a U.S. ambassador of a developing nation. They must create a proposal for a volunteer program. The students, Mary, Tatiana, and Juan, are already hard at work researching information from emails, websites, and the computer lab to complete tasks for their project. They update their project plan and share their progress with Miss Roberts daily. Projects in Miss Roberts' class help students learn skills and social studies content by taking on real-world roles to solve problems similarly to how adults work, while also meeting subject area standards.
