6. Spring Clean.docx
- 1. Spring clean, 7th April 2022, Sunderland Riverside (Galleys Gill). This was a collaborative event between Sunderland Bid, Sunderland Council and Greggs. The event was organised by Dot Dixon, the college business tutor. We were accompanied by Alex Rowland, the Skills Development Coach. We also worked alongside the Year 1 Business Students. For who filmed, that was between a few of us media students and the digital art students. Being a real important and positive event, we had followed to where the business students were working, cleaning up the area of Sunderland Riverside and we went around filming their progress. Capturing them getting on with the work, we had also interviewed a few of the students allowing them to praise the charitable work they were doing. What wasn’t so great about the day was the weather turning for the worse, but luckily the students carried on with their amazing attitudes and never let the wet and cold prevent them from getting on with the work. These students definitely inspired me with their attitude, and I had enjoyed getting to participate in making their charitable work known. As bad as I did feel having to stand around and watch them get their hands dirty. Filming in the state of what the weather was in at the time was surely something I hadn’t had to do before, so that was a new experience with great practice thinking about the stories of filmmakers having to carry on with their production no matter the weather issue depending on what they are filming. Fantastic Four comes to mind when thinking about that, with Michael Chiklis sweating in the Thing suit through the summer, but once winter had come around, he was cosy and warm whilst the rest of the crew and cast were freezing. Point is, you’ve got to work with what you’ve got at times and this, again, was great practice for that.
