Today the document's author worked on finalizing the voice over work and sound effects for their animation project. They arranged a recording session with their voice actor to get the final clip they needed. They also found and edited the final few sound effect clips. While fine-tuning audio can be tedious, the author recognizes its importance and was happy to complete the task to the best of their ability as they near the end of the project.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.

2. Process
Today I started making a basic first few frames on paper
and then scanned them in to go over in Photoshop and
add colour. I used a tutorial that I found on YouTube for
my experiments to go over the line art produced and
colour under the lines to fill it in. I used this same
technique for the words I was using for my fight scenes. I
feel this technique works amazingly well to do exactly
what you want it to, it can just be a little fiddly at first
before you’re used to it.
I was trying to animate the words changing size, which I
found in Photoshop to not be as easy as I first imagined.
This lead to needing to ask for help and going into
AfterEffects by Adobe to change it. Although I still find this
programme confusing and require assistance during use.
3. Process
Today I was trying to create the explosion of the
meteor impact and the scene after that where the
main character throws it.
I started with one idea of just making it seem like
everything was flying up around it, but was then
shown a better way that I could do it involving many
bright coloured splashes covering the screen to show
impact that I feel is a lot better.
I then went on and found I needed to keep doing the
layer mask technique as I did yesterday that seems, to
me, to be much easier than drawing in colours as I find
that harder than in black. Also, it gave me a base to
edit the arm position slightly between frames so that I
could more easily create my next position.
4. Process
Today I was unable to do a lot of work on
the computer as I required some images
to be scanned in, in order for me to add
them to my work, so I managed to do my
background.
Then the scanner broke so I was unable
to get the rest of my work done, which
lead to a lot of reference images up so
that I was able to hand draw them on
paper in order to be scanned in at a later
date. Around half way through last
lesson today the scanner was fixed,
which made me very happy as I was able
to scan them in before they had a chance
to be lost or damaged, even though I
keep them in a folder in my bag to keep
them nice.
5. Process
Today I was finishing the scene that I could not
yesterday, with the main character flying. I also
managed to complete my voice over scene
animations to the standards I am happy with at the
moment, although I know I will need to edit it
together with the other scenes a little better once I
actually put them together. The first scene with the
fox villain in, may also be complete to this stage as I
have managed to animate the clouds and make it
look almost as if he is watching the village in
complete stillness, as a trained assassin would – in
my eyes. This shows a little of his personality I feel,
as it shows he would like to attack the whole village
after just a little bit of a watching, planning to use
brute strength. I am happy with how it went as it
gets through more scenes and I feel it is making
good progress.
6. Process
Today I was creating the first scene with the snake and the
one reaction shot to the narrator. The first thing I realised
when I started was that I had used the wrong colours which
meant that I had to redo about 3 scenes that I had drawn and
coloured, taking a long while to redo it all, but essential.
The only other scene I did today was also taking a while as it
required me to draw out another couple stages and scan
them in. This was easy enough though so it was quite
satisfying and calming for me. Along with designing the
backgrounds for these scenes, this is one of my favourite
things to do for this. I realised that I had no mouth animation
in my other scenes, so this was the scene that I needed to
add some moth movements to. I did this by making it so that
the blue rabbit says ”yes” after landing.
7. Process
Today was to continue creating more scenes, consisting of
the fight scenes which did not go well at first as I found it
difficult to make the movement seem more natural for
both parties involved. The main problem here was with
the fox as I had forgotten how I had planned to do it at
first and so hadn’t planned out and designed as many
frames as I needed, leading to some last minute designs
that I feel may have worked acceptably as it is only
designed to be one small scene to give a basic impression
of what may be in the full show somewhere mixed in with
a lot of other fight actions. Another thing that I feel may
have been done wrong is that the line art in the snake
scene is a lot thicker than all other scenes. Looking back
now, I do not feel that this is the way I should have done it
so I feel I will need to change this tomorrow, although that
means redoing it all.
I tried to draw out my front facing rabbit for the
next scene, and I am not sure how exactly that has
worked, so I will attempt a few more goes at that
tomorrow from possibly the same, or slightly
different reference images as well.
8. Process
Today was hard to complete too much work
as my tablet driver had an update that I did
not realise until 2nd lesson after I had already
restarted my computer once to get it to
work. This delayed my work a lot as I was
restarting my computer a few times so that it
would work again. This did give me time to
try t draw out and create the bunny shape
that I wanted though so I made a couple
more designs to scan in and trace over. I
think this one has worked much better than
the one yesterday as that was more of a
rushed one and this one I took my time with
as I should to make it the best possible
design.
I then had to create my crowd which is a
simple copy and paste design which I simply
needed to change the colour each time for,
this made is easy but time consuming to
create as many as I wish to have.
9. Process
Today I decided to spend most of my time with my
voice actor getting sounds and voices recorded as it
is not often that we can have time with her. She is a
busy person, and our timetables do not match at all
so it was best to do it when we could. We got many
clips, that some are a few minutes long of
continuous sound effects for me to pick and choose
from. We decided it would be best to have too much
than too little in terms of amount of sounds as it
would be extremely difficult to have the time when
our schedules match again.
I then decided to spend what time I had left to try
animating the creation I made yesterday, which I am
unsure about and think that more time may be
needed to try to make it look much more natural as
they all flock to the super bun. This is because, I had
not had a clear idea of how they would move until I
had created them all, and with them as still
characters, I feel it may be best to do it in a way that
you cannot tell whether or not their feet are
moving, and possibly even do it where they are not
appearing to fly up to her, and do it in more of a
stack or a mound, possibly like a just huddle.
10. Process
Today I started by trying to design a font and
design for my logo and title screen. I took
inspiration from various other things I’ve found
that contain 2 different fonts in one design. I also
customised this slightly more by adding the rabbit
ears to a letter. I also decided that it would be
good to overlap the words slightly as it makes it
take up slightly less space. I think this works more
as it allows it to be more of a box shape than any
other design I was considering, which seems to
work better, and is a more usable logo for any
other merchandise.
I used this to also try to complete the end scene
with the launch date, which I created from the
time of how the summer holidays in the UK
generally are, so it can release when the children
are home all day to watch it.
After I finished that, I decided to try create part of
my zoom out, by resizing my pile of rabbits to
eventually fade out.
11. Process
Today I completed my final shots that I started yesterday.
This included trying to make the fades in and out of the
different scenes. This did not go well originally as I was trying
to add another frame and it was changing all the next frames
that I already had sorted. The way that I sorted this was to
create one in front of the one I wanted to change and then
move it after. This was not something that I found easy or
fun.
I then had to try to put all of my clips into Premiere, which is
when I realised that I had forgotten to even export half of my
clips, meaning that I had to go back and do that as well.
It then lead to me trying to organise my recorded sounds and
see how they would fit. By doing this, I realise that I may
need to record many more for the scenes that need sounds.
Although, there are some acceptable sounds recorded I
think, seems as we were trying to make them for around 2
hours – so it was likely we would miss something.
12. Process
Today I was working on editing my clips
together to make them the correct speed and
to cut them off in time and such. I then began
to go through my sound clips to see how they
would work with the clips and line a few of
them up with the visuals, along with cutting it
down so that no extra audio is present.
Through this process, I have found that I am
not sure that I have enough audio, so I will
need to make some more soon in order to be
able to complete it when I come back from half
term.
I will also need to produce my background
music for my entire trailer that has come out as
around a minute long. This is because it is
currently very silent behind the occasional
sound effect, as I am planning to have it a
comprehensive story by the background music
mixing with the imagery instead of all on the
sound effects that are to be put in as well.
13. Process
Today I had quite a lot of trouble with my
audio clips as my external hard drive seemed
to delete some of the important clips that I
had already put into my video timeline and so
I had to view all of the clips on there, and then
also had to go through the backups saved onto
the Mac I have been using to find the correct
one before being able to copy it back into the
correct place. This took a lot longer than I had
wished to just get back to the place that I was
last time I had opened the project. After this, I
went to try get more clips into it, realising that
I did not necessarily have all that I needed so I
have gone to find very few on online royalty
free websites, as I don’t really want a lot of
them, but it may be required.
I have also been allowed to hire out more
equipment meaning that I can try to record
more sounds that I need tonight, hopefully
including, a meteor sound and some more
cheering.
14. Process
Today I added one of my possibly last sound effects that I
had and was wanting to get a start on the background
music that would play throughout the entire trailer. I
started this by going online to try find a simple website that
would allow me to do this with minimum complications. At
this I found Audiotool. This is a website that helps you
create your own simple tunes. This was a lot more complex
than it was first presented and I figured out that I lacked the
knowledge and ability to truly use this website to it’s full
extent, so I decided to rest on that and attempt to use
GarageBand again as it is the default music programme
already installed. I also have very little ability in this
programme, but as I discovered that there are pre-loaded
loops in there, I am able to try piece them together with
minimum creation from me as well. This also has not yet
come out in a usable piece of sound, but I am optimistic
that if I keep at it, I may eventually be able to create
something more. Today I was struggling to create too much
as I was very unfamiliar with the programmes and there
was little in terms of premade loops that I felt really fit my
scenes so I am unsure exactly what I am wanting to create, I
just feel I will know it when it happens.
15. Process
As I realised that I was not creating anything worthy
of implementing into my work from GarageBand, I
decided to stop that and find some royalty free
music online. For this, I settled on the YouTube
audio library which is full of music and sound effects
to use, some you must credit the artist and some
not. From here I found 3 pieces that I would
possibly want in my work and narrowed it down to
2 that I find mix together really well. This made me
happy as it allows me to use some well created
music and as they are free for use of anything, I do
not need to worry about copyright or the such. All I
needed to do was then implement it into my work
and start playing around with all the levels in all my
audio. I have managed to do an amount of that
today, although I feel like I may like to try adding
another voice over section for the end, only if I can
find someone who may be good for it though, as I
find it can be quite hard to do good voice overs and
I would like it to be as good as possible if I am to
have it at all.
16. Process
For this day, I was deciding on extra sound effects to
keep the children viewing the show interested and
excited to keep watching the show. This is because it is
seen as more fun and entertaining.
I was looking for these through the YouTube Audio
Library and my pre-recorded sounds that I previously
thought unusable. But I realised that with an amount
of editing to the sound, it is much more usable and
able to fit the scenes. This included
17. Process
This day I was needing to produce my final voice over and final couple sounds. So I
managed to arrange for my voice actor to come meet me for a recording session. This
worked out extremely well as I got exactly the clip that I wanted and it fit my work
much better than expected. This meant that I only needed to find the final few clips of
noise that I wanted and to edit the levels and pitch slightly of each of them. I found this
easy enough as it was a more simple thing that I have been practicing throughout this
project and the other rotations. This made me happy to approach this task and
complete it to the best of my ability even though it can annoy me quite a bit to have to
watch the same scene over and over with the same audio at just slight volume changes,
I appreciate the importance of it and so am happy to complete the task.
