The municipality of Likovrisi-Pefki implemented ISO 50001 energy management standards and developed a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) to better manage its energy use. The municipality collected energy data from 2011 onward for its buildings, vehicles, streetlights, and more. This data collection allowed it to analyze its energy profile, set reduction goals, and identify priority areas to focus efficiency efforts. Some successes included installing an isothermic cover at the swimming pool for 40% energy savings and replacing streetlights with more efficient LED bulbs. The municipality found that management commitment, a dedicated team, training staff, and communicating results were key to successfully implementing the energy management system.
