This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. Chess players of different levels were shown a chessboard for a few seconds, depicting the placement of pieces at a random point in an actual game. They were then asked to recall the position of the pieces. The novice players were only able to recall the position of 5 or 6 pieces while the experts could recall nearly every piece on the board.
However, when the experiment was repeated, but this time with the chess pieces randomly placed on the board - rather than positions from a real game - novices and experts performed the same.
