This document outlines several learning targets related to understanding concepts of Earth and space science for a 5th grade level. The targets include demonstrating and explaining seasons using a model, explaining how the Earth's revolution around the sun defines a year, designing a model of the solar system showing relative distances and positions of celestial objects, describing the motion of planets and moons in terms of rotation and orbits, explaining the phases of the moon, apparent motion of stars and sun, lunar and solar eclipses, and how ocean tides relate to the gravitational pull of the moon.
