Technology Plan Description XXX Beauty Institute, a premiere beauty school in Lancaster, Ca., Dedicated to nurturing the artist Provides high standards for our facilities and educational services Assisting students in acquiring their license Accredited by National Accrediting Commission of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences. Technology plans length is 1600 hours, or 13 months, for each student Technology plan will be included in all modules. Demographics for the cosmetology program are 97% female, and 3% male Languages diversities Spanish, Korean, and Cambodian Ethnic diversity, Africans, Argentineans, and Mexicans, Caucasians, and African Americans.

Curriculum Objectives Objective: By April 2012, 75% of students will be able to perform basic manipulative skills in hairstyling, hair cutting, hair coloring, texture services, hair conditioning, skin and make-up, manicures, pedicures and nail extensions, over the April 2011 baseline scores measured by California CTE foundation standards. Benchmark: Laptop computers and smart phones are regular technological tools in the teaching environment. By the end of the year 2012, the percentage of students passing the state board examination will increase by 10% from the 2011 to 2012 baseline scores for a total of 85%, passing the examination. With teachers and students increasing their use of computers to improve classroom presentations for learning the curriculum aligned with the California CTE standards, this percentage could increase to 96%.

Professional Development Xxx Beauty Institute teachers attend an annual professional development class titled “Mindful Teaching,” which is for all educators who teach in the beauty human services industry, the sponsor is Pivot Point International . Goal: Mandatory 40 hours of professional development every 2 years Objective: All instructors to sign in for attendance to receive instructional hours Benchmark: All instructors to attend a professional development class on team teaching Evaluation: All instructors certification of attendance turned in to administration

10. Funding Established and potential funding sources: On going student enrollment and the sale of beauty supplies and services offered to the public. Annual implementation costs: $117,000 for 1 – 2 years Instructors will provide their own travel costs for professional development Educators will seek avenues for technical support Electronic resources are provided by the campus and are upgraded every year Instructors can include their own electronic resources to implement in instruction Ed Tech funding: Ed Tech funding will be monitored by events of new electronic resources that become available, and the cost to implement, which is generally every 3 years. There usually is no cost to implement other new electronic resources, most xxx instructors bring in and implement the resources.

12. Collaborative Strategies with Adult Literacy Providers Educators will collaborate in advance on what content they are teaching and if any student has a literacy problem. The literacy problems in the content area of cosmetology or barbering are brought to Mrs. H xxx campus supervisor, then brought to Ms. Breda’s attention for tutoring purposes. Other providers and services are located at the local community college in the learning lab, of which some students have access to these services.

14. Strategies Enhance the curriculum and the learning environment for all students. Distance learning is supplied by the school from an online Milady’s testing site provided by Xxx Beauty Institute. All students have access to the testing site with an ID and password provided by Xxx Beauty Institute. Will help students for distance learning to study for exams on campus and raise their testing scores. The web site can be accessed at any time, so students can study ahead of time the next chapter. Computerized testing bank has 3 formats in which the students can practice tests. Students can also access the computerized testing site after graduation in preparation for the California Cosmetology or Barbering state board written examination for licensure.
