PRODUCTION REFLECTION
Emily wood
PROCESS
I started off my
production process by
editing the song I wanted
to use for my trailer, I used
adobe audition to do this I
wanted to replicate some
of music I heard in the
trailers I researched , in
those trailers the music
helped tell the story, it was
normal in the begging and
then when the inciting
incident happens the
music drops and becomes
more eerie, I wanted to
replicate this in my own
trailer so I decide to try to
isolate the vocals of the
first verse
PROCESS
Then I started the main shoot, I
decided to do this over two days,
I would have like to do more
shoot days but It was difficult to
get everyone I needed available
on the same days, the first day we
shot I wanted to do an evening
shoot, I want to use the darkness
to create a feeling of unease,
however the clips didn’t turn out
exactly how I wanted them to,
they had a lot of visual noise on
them as I didn’t have access to
good enough light for some of
the shots. I think if I had shot on
an over cast day and edited it
then it would have looked better.
However I do like how some of
the clips came out.
PROCESS
• I did the whole shoot handheld, when I shot my test shots I used a tripod
and I felt like there was disconnect between the characters and the
audience, I felt the handheld approach allowed me to get close to the actor
which hopefully helps the audience feel apart of the story.
• I wanted to stick to a certain colour palette, I tried to keep it cool toned to
add to the atmosphere of the film.
• In the first part of the trailer I edited it to have no frame like the rest of it
because I wanted to have a clear disconnect between them, the normal life
and the horror life.
PROCESS
Shoot day 2 , went well
however It was quite sunny
which is not really what I
wanted it to look like but I
tried my best to shoot away
from the sun so it was easier
to edit it darker, I managed
to get all the shots I wanted.
We also shot inside a bit and
I am happy with how those
turned out. I wish I had shot
more b roll/ shots of the
characters daily life to make
the first part of the trailer
into more of a story.
PROCESS
I wanted to recreate the
graphics used in actual film
trailers so used the presets on
premiere pro to create a logo
for a fake production company,
I wanted an interesting font so I
went on website called da font
to choose a font I liked and
downloaded it.
I did a similar thing for the tile
screen, I want to stick to a
colour scheme with this so It
looked cohesive.
PROCESS
the overall editing process
was good, I struggled to get
the lighting better I couldn’t
figure out how to do wanted
to do.
I wanted to make the trailer
look as real as possible so I
did some simple fx makeup
on the actors and I made my
own fake blood.
