Subject:                   Word Processing


Lesson Topic:                  Inserting Clipart into a
Document

Student Performance Objective:

By the end of the lesson: Given a word processing program students will
be able to:

  •   Insert (step-by-step) a clipart graphic in the document.

How will students be evaluated and what methods will be used to measure
competency?

      Through a performance test in which each student will be given a set of step-by-step
      instructions and a computer word processing program from which a clipart graphic can be
      added to a document. Students will then be asked to show the instructor how they can
      "insert and format the clipart.”



Materials Needed: (Video, worksheets, overhead, computer, quiz, etc.)

 Computer, projector, computer for each student.
Anticipatory Set or Mental Readiness: (Describe the introduction to the
lesson you will use to get the students involved in the lesson)
      Statement of objective (from above) - BEOLSWBAT
        (By End Of Lesson Students Will Be Able To ... )
      * Instructor opens a completed document.
      * Tie in the importance of using step-by-step creation.

Instructional Components: (Include type of lesson and major concepts to
be covered)
      Instruction - Key Concepts (120 seconds)
      * Demonstrate each step on the handout (see attached handout).

Check for Understanding and/or Guided Practice and Independent
Practice:
      Checking for Understanding and Clarification (30 seconds)
      * Ask individual students questions about particular steps.
Closure: ("Are there any questions?" is NOT an adequate closure)
      Conclusion - Closure (30 seconds)
     * Reemphasize importance of the step-by-step process.
     * Encourage students to use handout as a guide.



Assessment Tool: (Written test, skill performance, scenario, portfolio,
discussion, etc.)

       Skill performance – The students will successfully insert a graphic into a document.
Answer Key: (Answer key, rubric, Likert scale, etc.)

 The step by step instruction handout provides what the screen should look like upon successful
completion of skill.

Scholar: Rachel Barnard Final Presentation Lesson Plan Subject: Word Processing Lesson Topic: Inserting Clipart into a Document Student Performance Objective: By the end of the lesson: Given a word processing program students will be able to: • Insert (step-by-step) a clipart graphic in the document. How will students be evaluated and what methods will be used to measure competency? Through a performance test in which each student will be given a set of step-by-step instructions and a computer word processing program from which a clipart graphic can be added to a document. Students will then be asked to show the instructor how they can "insert and format the clipart.” Materials Needed: (Video, worksheets, overhead, computer, quiz, etc.) Computer, projector, computer for each student.
