In the DSM-IV, the chapter titled “Sexual and Gender Identity Disorders” included a diagnosis
of gender identity disorder. This diagnosis has been eliminated and recategorized into its own
diagnostic class. The new grouping—gender dysphoria— reflects substantial changes in
conceptualization.
Substance-related disorders have also been substantially changed in the DSM-5. The most
significant changes are related to diagnostic labels, criteria, and defining terminology.
A brief summary of key changes in these two diagnostic classification groups are provided
below.
Gender Dysphoria
This new DSM-5 classification represents an evolution in the understanding of the
interrelationship between sex and gender. The diagnostic group is categorized by an
incongruence between assigned gender and the experience of gender. There are only three
diagnoses in this group: gender dysphoria, other specified gender dysphoria, and unspecified
gender dysphoria.
Both other specified gender dysphoria and unspecified gender dysphoria include significant
clinical distress or impairment in their diagnostic criteria but do not meet full criteria for a
specific diagnosis in this class. Clinicians should use other specified gender dysphoria and add
the specific reason for the more general diagnosis (e.g., insufficient duration to meet gender
dysphoria diagnosis). The latter diagnosis—unspecified gender dysphoria— is used when
clinicians cannot (or choose not to) identify reasons for the inability to make a more specific
diagnosis, yet clearly observe multiple criteria from the gender dysphoria criteria.
Gender Dysphoria
Distinct criteria sets for the presence of this disorder in children, adolescents, or adults are
outlined in the DSM-5. Language has been altered to include and clarify cultural and
environmental influences as well. The resulting gender dysphoria diagnosis is more narrow and
specific than the former gender identity disorder. In addition, specifiers have changed
dramatically. Those pertaining to sexual orientation previously part of the gender identity
disorder diagnosis have been removed, as it was determined they were not relevant to the
diagnosis of gender dysphoria. A developmental specifier addressing the potential influence of a
biological component was added. In addition, a specifier reflecting the stage or status of
transition was added.
Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders
There are significant differences in this classification, most prominently in the conceptualization
and association of criteria. This category of disorders is marked by activation of the brain reward
system—an intensive experience that may interfere with desire to partake in normal activities
and/or make pro-social or healthy decisions. This diagnostic classification is divided into

It is essential to note that the aspect of human culture is a complex system made up of values. The aspect of cultural values implies specific ideas, items, and concepts that get either negative or positive connotation. This paper analyses some of the choices or behaviors in human life influenced by diffusion.
Responsibility and diffusion: this is the first choice/behavior influenced by diffusion, other scholars call it diffusion of responsibilities, which is phenomenon influenced by human psychology and it is where a person displays less chances of taking an action in presence of people. For many years, social psychology recognizes the aspect that human behavior regarding social responsibility is significantly influenced by the presence of people. The simple way to understand this is attributed to the ‘bystander effect’ where the probability of people taking actions to assists other in case of an emergency is low especially if there are many people in that place, Beyer (2017).
Another common example regarding responsibility is the “social loafing” effect. Although people strive to work as a team with a primary objective of achieving a similar goal, the likelihood that individual will put in less efforts on average is always high. The possibilities of taking a risk at an individual level are always low, but when working or deciding on something as a group, the possibilities of taking risks are always high. These examples shows that a person’s behavior changes within the social context. The presence of people develops that virtue of becoming less responsible.

Sex, Sexuality, and Substance Abuse
In the DSM-IV, the chapter titled “Sexual and Gender Identity Disorders” included a diagnosis
of gender identity disorder. This diagnosis has been eliminated and recategorized into its own
diagnostic class. The new grouping—gender dysphoria— reflects substantial changes in
conceptualization.
Substance-related disorders have also been substantially changed in the DSM-5. The most
significant changes are related to diagnostic labels, criteria, and defining terminology.
A brief summary of key changes in these two diagnostic classification groups are provided
below.
Gender Dysphoria
This new DSM-5 classification represents an evolution in the understanding of the
interrelationship between sex and gender. The diagnostic group is categorized by an
incongruence between assigned gender and the experience of gender. There are only three
diagnoses in this group: gender dysphoria, other specified gender dysphoria, and unspecified
gender dysphoria.
Both other specified gender dysphoria and unspecified gender dysphoria include significant
clinical distress or impairment in their diagnostic criteria but do not meet full criteria for a
specific diagnosis in this class. Clinicians should use other specified gender dysphoria and add
the specific reason for the more general diagnosis (e.g., insufficient duration to meet gender
dysphoria diagnosis). The latter diagnosis—unspecified gender dysphoria— is used when
clinicians cannot (or choose not to) identify reasons for the inability to make a more specific
diagnosis, yet clearly observe multiple criteria from the gender dysphoria criteria.
Gender Dysphoria
Distinct criteria sets for the presence of this disorder in children, adolescents, or adults are
outlined in the DSM-5. Language has been altered to include and clarify cultural and
environmental influences as well. The resulting gender dysphoria diagnosis is more narrow and
specific than the former gender identity disorder. In addition, specifiers have changed
dramatically. Those pertaining to sexual orientation previously part of the gender identity
disorder diagnosis have been removed, as it was determined they were not relevant to the
diagnosis of gender dysphoria. A developmental specifier addressing the potential influence of a
biological component was added. In addition, a specifier reflecting the stage or status of
transition was added.
Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders
There are significant differences in this classification, most prominently in the conceptualization
and association of criteria. This category of disorders is marked by activation of the brain reward
system—an intensive experience that may interfere with desire to partake in normal activities
and/or make pro-social or healthy decisions. This diagnostic classification is divided into

Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

He has learned about deinstitutionalization and its consequences for mental health and the public. Likewise, Jamal acknowledges how perspectives have changed regarding the duty of clinical professionals to provide treatment to those in need, as well as how social and cultural changes have influenced our conception of abnormality. In many cases, advancements in symptom classification and diagnostic assessment have caused us to question whether what we once viewed as disorders are actually disorders at all. Conversely, we now recognize new disorders that did not exist before.Given his newfound interest in mental health advocacy, Jamal wants to be able to speak to the many changes that have occurred within the mental health paradigm over time and how those changes continue to forge progressive new pathways in mental health reform. Jamal has recently created a blog to highlight the many ways in which we can change the conversation about abnormal behavior.For this project, you will first create a blog post that compares the diagnostic features and underlying biopsychosocial factors of various psychological disorders. Your post will outline the history of mental health disorders, the impact of deinstitutionalization, and the shared symptoms across various diagnoses. - 2. various psychological disorders that you’ve learned about in the course and select 3 disorders from your textbook’s “DSM-5 Quick Guide.” Next, in a minimum of 3 to 5 sentences per bullet for each psychological disorder, respond to each of the rubric criteria below to structure your blog post. Support your answers with credible sources when appropriate.In your own words, identify and describe the main diagnostic features of each of the disorders selected.Consider biomedical factors: Describe what it means to characterize the disorders as “diseases of the nervous system and the body.”Consider clinical factors: Describe the similarities between the disorders selected.
