This photograph shows Pete Doherty and Carl Barat of the band The Libertines performing live on stage. It captures both of their passion for music through Pete's closed eyes while singing and Carl straining his neck. They are singing intensely into their microphones together, showing intimacy. Their matching all-black outfits with red, white and blue bandanas tied around their wrists further illustrates their bond. The photo effectively depicts their love and passion for both music and each other.

1. Analysis:
This is photograph is of Paul Weller the lead singer
and guitarist of the 1980’s rock band The Jam sat
next to Miles Kane who is a solo artist of the similar
genre. The black and white colours add good effect
to the picture as it makes it seem older which is
clearly the look both men are going for in their
smart sixties style suits. Both artists are very
influenced by sixties music which is why the suits
and the black and white effect works. My favourite
part of this photo is the positioning of both Weller
and Kane. Weller has gone for the legs
crossed, hands on knees approach with a serious
expression on his face looking straight at the
camera. He looks comfortable with his positioning
unlike Miles who looks a bit awkward. You sense the
awkwardness through his smile and hand
positioning. Miles has very similar positioning to
Weller with the legs crossed and hands on knees
posture. Miles is also looking at Weller and
smiling, if you add the awkwardness you can easily
assume the picture is trying to connote the fact that
Miles is a big fan of Weller and looks up to him. It
looks like Miles idolises Weller and is trying to
almost copy him which could then be represented
through their music. This is a good photo and I chose
to analyse it because of what it represents, it shows
young and old coming together and the young
aspiring to be like the old.

2. Analysis:
This is photograph is of the Grand Canyon which is arguably
the greatest and most impressive natural feature on this
planet. This photo captures the variety of the Grand Canyon
in the top 80% of the picture through showing the range of
depths , height and colour throughout. You can clearly
distinguish the different shades of yellows and reds of the
rocks which makes this area so impressive. The shape of the
canyons is also clearly shown in the picture unlike some
photographs of the grand canyon. At the bottom of the mise-
en-scene we have a female who is alone sat down on the
ground in a legs crossed position. She appears to be just
looking at the view but we cannot see her face on. From this
we can connote that she is just enjoying the view and the
overwhelmingness of the grand canyon. She could be
meditating as the grand canyon is meant to be a relaxing
place. Wherever she is just enjoying the view or meditating
the photo shows how small we are compared to the size of
the world and nature itself. The red colour of her clothing
makes her stand her out against the yellows, reds and greys
of the rocks which draws your attention to her. The trees
with very few leaves still have some green on them in the
foreground and again they draw you to the bottom section of
the mise-en-scene. Without these extra colours the photo
would be quite bleak. This photo makes me want to explore
the world and see some of the greatest wonders in the world
and appreciate them.

3. Analysis:
This is probably the most iconic photograph in
English football. England hosted the 1966 world
cup which they went on to win. In this picture we
see Bobby Moore who captained the side to victory
celebrating their triumph. This is a good photo as
we see Bobby Moore lifted higher than everyone
else like a king would have been, its like he is
superior to the others as he lead his side to victory.
The England players are in their famous red and
white kit which brings all the players together as a
team, the team that won such a huge sporting
event. Happiness and joy can be seen on the faces
of the players especially Bobby Moore and the
players to his right. You can sense the players being
proud of their win as Bobby Moore lifts the trophy
higher than everyone else including him to show it
off and as if to say ‘look at what we achieved’.
Another great aspect of this photo is the
background and the thousands of fans that stayed
at Wembley to watch England celebrate the World
Cup.

4. Analysis:
This photo is of Pigeon Point Lighthouse in California.
The clear focus of the photo is the moon that stands
out brightly against the dark blue early morning sky.
The lighthouse is just off from the centre of the picture
to capture the moon in behind the lighthouse. The
positioning of the photograph is perfect as it gives the
effect that the moon is the light from the lighthouse.
Apart from the moon that is a bright yellow in this
picture the colours in the foreground are rather dull
with the white of the lighthouse and grey and browns
of the rocks. The sea and the sky almost merge together
as they are such a similar shade and this time of the day
which also makes the moon stand out even further. This
photograph is definitely one for being in the right place
at the right time to capture such brilliant positioning of
the moon.

5. Analysis:
This photograph shows Pete Doherty (right) and Carl
Barat (left) of The Libertines performing live. Both
are considered frontmen for the band and this
picture really shows that. This photo shows both
passion and love for music and towards each other.
These emotions are shown towards music by Pete’s
closing of the eyes when singing, this is associated
with really trying therefore showing passion. Carl
has gone for a similar approach and you can see he
is straining his neck. In this picture you can see both
men are trying to put on their best show for the
audience by performing their best which shows real
passion. You can see sweat especially from Carl on as
his hair sticks to his face which also shows he has
been lively on stage. The passion and love for each
other is clear, we have the singing into the
microphone together which Pete and Carl are
famous for. Although they have their individual mics
one has opted to join the other and sing together
which means getting close and intimate. We also can
see matching outfits in the fact they are both in all
black with the red, white and blue bandanas tied
around their wrists and the fact they both have
guitars in their hands. I really like the photo as it
shows passion and love for two things in one image,
music and each other.
