February 26, 2025-Wednesday
1:45-2:30 P.M
Demonstration Teacher: JEAN R. FUENTES
Directions: Look at the 4 pictures displayed on
the screen. The pictures are all related to a single
word. You need to figure out what that word is.
Whoever gets the highest score will be the winner

Drill
What do you mean by soil
erosion?
Soil erosion is the weathering
away of topsoil caused by water,
wind, or tillage.
Review
Directions: Draw a happy face( )if the statement describe a
beneficial effect of soil erosion on living things and the
environment, and a sad face( )if it is harmful effect.
Review
1. Sand dunes, which are popular tourist spots in Middle
East, are formed due to soil erosion.
2. During soil erosion, the topsoil thins out and therefore
becomes less fertile.
3. Sediments can also clog the irrigation system
so the water supply may not be enough for
plants.
4. Mine tailing pollutes the rivers and seas and
thus affecting the aquatic animals and supply
of potable water.
5. Massive soil erosion can lead to destruction
of people’s lives and properties.
I have here cut-out pictures all you have to do
is to piece together the puzzle by matching
the images to reveal a complete picture. You
will be given 2 minute to reveal the complete
picture and paste on the board.
Motivation
 Listen to everyone’s ideas and take turns.
 Work together and support each other to
complete the task.
 Complete the activity within the given time
frame.
 Everyone should participate equally.
 Share thoughts clearly and discuss ideas
openly.
Things to remember in Group Activity:
What do you think is
happening in our
environment?
Have you ever experienced
something like this before?
WEATHER
DISTURBANCES
What type of climate does the
Philippine have?
-warm
temperature
-high humidity
-plenty of rainfall throughou
the year
The Philippines have a tropical maritime
climate, meaning the weather is generally
hot and quite humid.
"tropical" refers to its location near the
equator, where it is generally hot,
"maritime" means that the climate is
influenced by the surrounding oceans, bringing
moist air and frequent rains.
Climate is the long-term pattern of
weather conditions in a specific area.
Weather on the other hand, refers to the
short-term changes in atmospheric
conditions, such as temperature, humidity,
wind, and precipitation, that can change from
day to day or even hour to hour.
What weather patterns affect the
Philippines?
Southwest Monsoon (Habagat)
Northeast Monsoon (Amihan)
-it brings heavy rain from May -October
-it brings cooler and drier air from
November to early May
Which government agency in the
Philippines is responsible for monitoring
and managing weather conditions?
PAG-ASA
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and
Astronomical Services Administration
Weather Disturbances
-are generally characterized by
sudden change in the steady
condition of the atmosphere that is
experienced in a given place
Guide Questions:
1. What are the different types of weather disturbances
shown in the video?
2. What happens in the atmosphere when a storm occurs?
3. What are the signs that a thunderstorm is forming?
4. How does a tornado form, and what does it look like?
5. What makes a typhoon different from other
weather disturbances?
What are the different types of weather
disturbances shown in the video?
storm thunderstorm
tornado typhoon
What happens in the atmosphere
when a storm occurs?
👉 A storm is a violent disturbance in the
atmosphere caused by sudden changes in air
pressure. This results in strong winds, heavy rain,
and sometimes thunder and lightning.

What are the signs that a
thunderstorm is forming?
👉 A thunderstorm forms when warm air
rises and meets cold air. It is characterized
by dark clouds, strong winds, heavy rain,
thunder, and lightning.

👉 A tornado forms when a mass of warm,
humid air meets cold, dry air, creating a
spinning column of air. It looks like a funnel-
shaped cloud that touches the ground and
moves quickly, causing destruction.
Does anybody from the class knows how
does a tornado form, and what does it
look like?

What makes a typhoon different from
other weather disturbances?
👉 A typhoon is very powerful among the other
-TYPHOON came from a Japanese term
TAI-FU which means GREAT WIND
👉 A typhoon is a powerful
tropical cyclone that forms
over warm ocean waters. It
has strong winds, heavy
rains, and a well-defined
eye in the center. Unlike
storms or thunderstorms,
typhoons cover a large area
and can last for several
days.
Remember:
The Philippines is prone to
any weather disturbances
due to its geographical
location.
Match Me ( Group Activity)
Each group will be given a jumbled words. All you
have to do is rearrange the jumbled words to form
a complete a characteristic or meaning from the
different weather disturbances in the Philippines.
Then match it in the picture posted on board. You
will be given 3 minutes only to do the activity.

What are the two monsoons that affect
the weather in the Philippines?
Southwest Monsoon (Habagat)
Northeast Monsoon (Amihan),
Generalization:
Which government agency is
responsible for monitoring and
managing weather conditions in the
Philippines?
PAG-ASA
Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and

What do you call a violent disturbance
in the atmosphere that involves
sudden changes in air pressure and
causes strong winds and rain?
STORM
What type of storm is characterized
by heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and
forms within cumulonimbus clouds?
THUNDERSTORM
What do you call a rapidly whirling,
funnel-shaped cloud that extends from
a storm cloud to the ground and can
cause severe destruction?
TORNADO
What do you call a strong tropical
cyclone that forms over the Pacific
Ocean and is characterized by spiraling
cloud bands, heavy rain, and a low-
pressure center?
TYPHOON
Why is it important to stay informed an
prepared for weather disturbances like
storms, typhoons, tornadoes, and
thunderstorms?
VALUES:
Staying informed and prepared helps protect
lives and minimize damage during severe
weather conditions.
How can we help ensure the safety
of our family and community
during these events?
VALUES:
We can ensure safety by following weather
updates, creating emergency plans, preparing
emergency kits, and helping others in need,
especially the elderly and children in our
community.
Activity: "Weather Watch Report"
 Make a Simple Weather Report – On a piece of paper or a
mini-poster, write:
Weather Condition Today: (e.g., sunny, cloudy, rainy)
Possible Weather Disturbance: (e.g., storm, typhoon,
thunderstorm)
Safety Tips specially for those persons with disabilities: (e.g.,
bring an umbrella with whistle , stay indoors during storms)
 Presentation – Each group will share their weather report with
the class in a simple news-style format. You will be given 3
minutes only.
