has introduced a number of
distinct styles at great value.
Two excellent varieties to
look out for come from the
House of Janisson et Fils in
the idyllic grand cru village of
Verzenay. The house has
been making Champagne
since 1923 and is owned by
world-renowned winemaker
Manuel Janisson, who is
assisted by a rising star of
wine-making, Cyril Tanazacq.
Janisson et Fils Premier
Cru won bronze medal at the
2008 International Wine Show
Challenge. Made from a
60/40 blend of Chardonnay
and Pinot Noir, this attractive
Champagne is clear and
bright with fine bubbles. The
maturing Chardonnay gives
off brioche, vanilla and
hazelnut aromas, while the
pinot noir brings hints of
honey, acacia and cedar.
Janisson et Fils Rose is
another award winner,
collecting a silver medal at
the 2008 Decanter Awards.
