3. 2. Build your audience
❏ No one wants to follow brands who over-promote their products/services.
❏ Must offer value
❏ Example: If you sell hair wigs, offer different pics. Try funny pics, nice pics, ugly pics. Offer a
“wig buying guide”, “how to pick the right color”, “how to prevent slip”, “Worried about losing
your hair, try these tips” etc etc.
❏ Sprinkle in promotions. As a rule of thumb, use the 70/30 rule. 70% value, 30%
promotions. Once you build your audience you can move 50/50.
❏ Ask friends to like, comment on your page. Get them to ask questions
❏ Avoid paying for likes. A few paid likes is ok, but too many paid likes will be
counterproductive

4. 3. Build a funnel
There are 2 types of advertising strategies
1. Go straight for the sale (hit or miss)
2. Use a sales funnel
“Window shoppers”
Buyers

5. 3. Build a funnel - Straight Sale vs Funnel
Straight for the sale
1. Create Ad
2. Make offer
3. Customer either buys or doesn’t
This is not recommended. You’re basically
guessing or hoping people will be interested
in your product/service.
You are targeting people at the TOP of the
sales funnel (ie. ‘window shoppers’)

6. 3. Build a funnel - Straight Sale vs Funnel
How to Build a funnel → this is the better way to run fb ads. It takes longer but increases conversions.
Create FB offer Capture email or ‘like’ Re-target Make offer
Example: “Download the
10 step guide to making
your wig look more
natural”
On your website:
‘Enter your email and
we’ll send you the guide”
Create lookalike audience
on FB. Enter the emails you
captured from your ‘free’
offer into FB and create new
ads targeting those emails
and FB will find people who
are similar.
This is where your pixel
comes in handy.
FB can target people who
already visited your site
Created new ad
With offer.
FB will show it people
Have engaged with your
previous ad and who
visited your site and
People who are similar

7. 3. Build a funnel - Straight Sale vs Funnel
Example:
1. Free Webinar
2. Re-target people who
attended webinar or clicked on
site
3. Show new ad
“Buy my course for $1000”
Which is like saying “hey you
liked my free webinar, now you
know me, why not buy my
course?

8. 4. How to find your audience
FB ads work like this:
1. Create your ad
2. Select audience
3. Pay
Select audience is the most important part of your ad
To select audience you should:
❏ Target audience size in 100’s thousands NOT millions
❏ Choose the right demographic (age, gender, city etc)
❏ Target groups that have active engagement
❏ Target NICHE groups ONLY
❏ Target groups that have lots of posts and
comments
Use this when creating your first ad offering
something for ‘free’. This is to get the ball
rolling only
When you run your 2nd ad campaign, you
should use the data collected by your email,
pixel and page engagement

9. 4. How to find niche audience
Everyone know this guy.
Just because someone ‘likes’ him
on FB, doesn’t mean they’re
interested in buying Golf products.
This is too Broad
Only hardcore Golf fans know her.
Chances are if someone ‘likes’ her
then they are more likely to be real
gold fans and maybe real players
who want to buy golf equipment.
Target FB groups who have a niche
interest in the product you’re selling.
