Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the second edition of 'World Food India 2023' in New Delhi to present India as the 'food basket of the world' and celebrate 2023 as the International Year of Millets. He also extended seed capital assistance to over one lakh self-help group members. A recent report found that food production accounts for approximately 15% of global fossil fuel usage annually, equivalent to 4.6 gigatons of carbon dioxide emissions, on par with the EU and Russia combined.
